We are booked until March 2018.
In 2018: Monday to Thursday, short stays - offering accommodation in our comfortable student house, on-site wireless Internet and food in exchange for 4hrs of help per helper each day. We prefer to welcome you on short notice. Longer or regular stays negotiable after initial stay.
We are developing an edible garden and future community space in Central Ballarat and making improvements to our student accommodation.
Helpxing: We appreciate help with:
-building new vegetable garden beds & gardening
-planting a new orchard
-preparing internal door and door surrounds for painting
-moving branches, raking & tidying yard after pruning
-wood–fired oven building
-fencing for chooks & espaliers
-building a small tool and chook shed
-applying undercoat/paint to garden posts
-painting iron & timber fences
Accommodation: Sleep in the pictured comfortable home in twin-single or double bedroom, or your own accommodation if you have something suitable. Helpers have access to kitchen, bathroom, laundry, dining room, sunroom and surrounding yard and may be sharing the common areas with members of the host family, guests or other Helpers. There is no TV at the home. All bedrooms and front entry have digital keyless entry. Pictured walking trail is located opposite the home. Help is needed at two properties in Central Ballarat.
Ballarat is about 100km north-west of Melbourne - approx. $15 one-way off-peak fare by train or 1.5hr drive. We are centrally located, an easy 1km walk to Ballarat CBD, supermarket, railway station and many tourist attractions.
Ballarat: Ballarat is home to the Wathaurong indigenous people. Ballarat is a well-renowned regional tourist destination built during the Gold Rush with many beautiful heritage buildings. Visit Sovereign Hill Museum, Ballarat Wildlife Park, Art Gallery of Ballarat, Ballarat Botanic Gardens, Ballarat-Skipton Rail Trail, Ballarat Tramway Museum, Sturt Street Gardens and Statues, Lake Wendouree, Her Majesty’s Theatre, Australian Ex-Prisoners of War Memorial, Ballarat Old General Cemetery, Ballarat Fire Station, Ballarat Municipal Observatory and Museum, Gold Museum, Arch of Victory, Ballarat Bird World, restaurants, cafes, live theatre, music and cinema. There are a number of great local nature reserves to explore if you have a pushbike or enjoy walking.
