** WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR KIND HELPERS FROM NOW ON UNTIL THE END OF MAY **
We are a family of four (33, 31, 5, 2) and we live in northern Germany not far from the beach, surrounded by forests, fields and lakes.
We live our dream of our own house and little farm and have loads of projects where we need help. The stables for horses and our small animals must be expanded, the house needs to be rebuilt, a residential house in our garden should be built, the beds must be cultivated, a vegetable garden should be planted, a piece of forest should be reforested, firewood must be splitted, everything must be kept clean and maintained and so on...
Working in and around our house is not only a thing what we have to do! We like it and make everything with love, give always all our best and take care of all our things! Every little step is a part of the whole!
Beside of “working” we like it to spend time with our animals, craft something, play board games, make bike trips, cook, go fishing, learn instruments, practice karate, meet friends and family, make trips in the surrounding, visit flea markets, enjoy our garden or our surrounding…
"We make our world as we like it."
Working and living together:
What does a day look like in our house?
During the week, Nils works in a nearby town as an electrical engineer. Swantje works with children at home. She is always there if you have important questions and she coordinates the day and tasks!
You get tasks and work independently round about 3-6 hours a day (25-30 h a week) – It depends on that what we have to do and can be flexible if you want to make a trip in the surrounding for example! One day more and the next day less…
What could be a task for you?
The most tasks for our volunteers will be outdoors like different maintenance tasks around the house, stable and the yard or in the implementation of new projects! That means plastering walls, painting, gardening, chopping wood, mowing lawns, caring for ponies, muttering the stables, building fences, earthworks, house and yard cleaning, some creative things and much more...
In the near future we also want to restore the basement inside and outside and want to make there a paradise for crafting and a room where we can store our harvested delicacies.
Our motto is: "Learning by doing". We take everything in our own hands and try to give you the same chance. But for sure is not everybody able to try and do everything. Every little task is a part of the big whole!!!
That we have no misunderstandings:
We expect commitment and joy for work and live in nature and with nature. The motivation to do something has to come from you! We will explain you everything and help you if you have questions or need help, but we are neither your mother nor your father and we don´t want to run after you. That means that you should be able to motivate yourself by your own and can work independently!
The daily housework like cleaning your room, the bathroom what you use, the kitchen and the first room or prepare a meal for you or for all of us is not included in the “working time”!
On the weekends and in the evening we try to spend time together or work together. Please understand that it is not everyday possible because sometimes we have other things to do or need a little bit family time!
We are VERY careful with all of our things and try to do always our best! We expect the same from you! Similarly, we expect you to be as economical with everything as possible: "Take only as much as you really need and live each moment consciously."
Saving water: You are not cleaner after 10 minutes of showering than after 3 minutes.
Saving electricity: Turn off the light when you do not need it. Take power supplies (from mobile phones, laptops ...) always out of the socket, if you charge nothing.
Fuel for heating: Put on warm socks and one more sweater and save energy – this is even healthier than warm air from the heater.
We are economical with consumables and building materials and try to recycle and reuse many things. The building materials and tools are expensive and must be handled and used with care!
Please think of warm clothes, which may get dirty. Rain clothes and solid shoes are also important!
We have a guest room with a bunk bed.
For breakfast and for lunchtime we offer you a bread meal with cheese, jam and vegetables of the season, which each one prepares himself. In the evening we all cook and eat together a delicious dinner.
We eat mainly vegetarian and buy meat only from the butcher of our trust! But vegetarian people are no problem for us! We love eggs, cheese and other milk products and cook with it! Sometimes vegan is ok, but not every day! You should be flexible with that and be able to eat milk products because we like it to eat and cook together the same meal!
We live here together with our own children and the kindergarten-children in house and garden. It is very important for us that everyone is always friendly and exemplary, as well as appropriately dressed.
In the household everybody is helping and everyone cleans that what he use!
We are looking forward to getting to know kind, creative, open-minded and inquisitive people who want to develop themselves and accompany us a short way in our life. We can learn from each other and have a nice time. You are welcome!
Our main meal is in the evening when everyone is at home. For us it´s important that we all eat together and that not everybody goes one's own way.
The surrounding area invites you to cycle and go for a walk. The beach is 5 km and 15 minutes by bike away. There you can go fishing, sailing and surfing or simply enjoy the nature.
In winter it is quiet in the surrounding and you can enjoy nature and tranquility. There is something more going on in summer. Campsites, guest houses, apartments and hotels are very well visited, as well as the beach and the attractions in the surrounding.
To Kiel (35km) you need an hour by bus. The nearest shop is in Lütjenburg (9km).
Recently: We would have a free bed from now on or maybe later!
