** Come and help us with winter work while the Quinta is closed to guests! November - March: Harvesting oranges, pruning, weeding, sowing seeds, making cuttings and more! **
Our Quinta is approximately 8 km from Lagos, Algarve. It is a 5 hectare smallholding on the outskirts of Odiαxere, a typical Portuguese village, just 15 minutes walk away. The Quinta has been the home of the Wild family for the past 14 years. During this time it has been tastefully converted into a destination for natural, relaxing rural holidays.
A small workforce keep the formal garden and water system maintained (we have our own bore hole and ecological water filtration and sanitation system). There is also a small animal enclosure with hens, geese and ducks. We are developing a nursery area and vegetable and herb garden which we are keen to expand. Our long term aim is to be self-sufficient in supply of fruit and vegetables to the kitchens of the Quinta and its sister hotel in Lagos.
There are usually two staff assigned to the gardens at any one time. We have two garden co-ordinators that are on site one week a month. A variety of languages are spoken, mostly Portuguese, English and German.
Tasks: upkeep of the formal gardens and nursery plants - weeding, watering, tidying; care of water system, plants and wildlife; composting; development of herb and vegetable garden; care and expansion of citrus and soft fruit trees; harvesting and preserving. Taking part with animal care is optional.

The overall picture:

Communication and mutual respect is essential from both parties to ensure a happy, fulfilling and successful relationship. We hope you depart from us as friends and plan to return again in the future. However, if irresolvable circumstances should arise either party may terminate the venture by giving 48 hours notice of intended departure.
