*** UPDATE: AT THE MOMENT, WE ARE PARTICULARLY LOOKING FOR HELPERS DURING THE PERIOD 21 OCTOBER - 5 NOVEMBER. THERE WILL BE SOME OUTDOOR WORKS IN OUR GARDEN LIKE LAYING PATIO TILES FOR OUR NEW TERRACE, PLANTING, DECORATING ETC. :-) ***

Hello! We are a family of three (36, 34 and 2 years old), living in a nice single house in central Bonn. The area we live in is called Bonn-Beuel, there are two arthouse cinemas, a lot of supermarkets/shops and also a few pubs/ beer gardens. From ours, it's just a 10 minute walk to the river Rhine. There are several very convenient transport options to explore Bonn and its surroundings. A 5 minute walk will take you to the next tram station: the city centre is only two stations away :-)

In the past, we have done a fair bit of couchsurfing and have always enjoyed the company of people from other cultural backgrounds and the exchange that comes with it! We would love to host people from all over the world, not so much for the work aspect but more to get to know different cultures!

However, as we both work we could always do with a bit of help in and around the house :-) It's all quite easy work: mostly general housework (like cleaning) but probably also some gardening, cooking, grocery shopping or looking after our little daughter.. and why not try something else: Maybe you play an instrument (we have several at home) or speak a language you would like to teach us?

We would only expect about 2-3 hours of light work a day (and 2 days off per week: days usually chosen by you) in return for free accommodation and at least one meal (breakfast) per day. We won't be able to offer lunch due to our work schedule but will offer dinner if we're also having dinner at home (usually sandwiches - the typical German "Abendbrot")! You'll have our top floor for yourself, including a private bathroom, a desk, chess table and coffee/tea making facilities.

A basic knowledge of English on your side would be helpful but we also speak Spanish, Italian and a bit French. We usually get a lot of requests, but if you put “Beuel" in your message we’ll know right away you’ve read this and it will massively increase your chances of getting a yes.

We look forward to hearing from you!
Britta, Philip & Clara

SOME MORE INFORMATION ON SIGHTSEEING/ TRANSPORT OPTIONS:

When you're here you simply have to visit Bonn's neighbor city COLOGNE on a free day (30 minutes train ride) with its beautiful Cathedral (Germany's most visited landmark) and all its museums, galleries.. and the CHOCOLATE museum where there is a chocolate fountain to taste from. Very yummy! Other day tour options by train are Königswinter with the famous Dragon's Rock (00:20h), Koblenz (00:45h), Düsseldorf (1h) and Aachen (1:15h).

Bonn was actually Germany's capital until 1990, is famous as it's Beethoven's birthplace and has a very nice city centre (Altstadt) and plenty of culture stuff/ festivals going on. There are also a lot of interesting museums (like the totally recommendable and free-entry House of the History of the Federal Republic of Germany). If you like nature, Bonn is surrounded by it (e.g. the Siebengebirge hills) and has quite a few nature options (like the Rheinauen, a leisure park on the banks of the Rhine almost as big as the city centre itself! If you're lucky, you'll have the chance to visit one of its famous flee markets...).
