This is a versatile bio-dynamic farm community in Sipoo right next to the border of Helsinki. We cultivate vegetables (potatoes, carrots, parsnip, onions, beetroot, cabbages etc.), berries, apples, flowers, herbs and cereals on our fields the size of 20ha. We have 10 cows and about 20 chicken. There are many families living in the community and we have a international working atmosphere with local students, farmworkers and volunteers from around the globe. We have a long history at bio-dynamic farming. The previous farmers cultivated the land 30 years and we’re pioneers of Finnish biodynamic farming. Current farmer couple has now cultivated here for 4 years and they follow the same principles.

Our HelpX volunteer tasks are focused on cooking (~5h daily work) for the farmworkers once a day for five days a week (monday-friday). Depending on the time of the year there will be from 5 to 20 people having lunch. The tasks include also household work in the kitchen building, such as cleaning and dish washing. The ingredients for cooking will be based on our own products. Know-how on vegetarian cooking and fluent english skills are all what is needed. There is also possibilities to work with the farming on some days.

Life here is peaceful and communal. There are always customers, educational- and greencare-groups stopping by and at noon we gather to eat together in the big kitchen by the cow house. We cater mostly organic vegetarian food. There is also a lot of beautiful nature around the farm, it’s really short walk to the shore of the Baltic Sea, there is old forest and cliffs surrounding the fields and if you’re lucky you’ll meet a moose or deer family. In the summer time the forests are full of berries and in the autumn there is plenty of edible mushrooms.

We accept HelpX volunteers from April to November, for a minimum stay of one month. The accommodation is in different sized and usually shared wooden cabins. Cow houses kitchen is reserved for volunteers and workers. Our toilets are outhouses and in the warm parts of year the showering premises are outdoors.

For free-time there is swimming and fishing possibilities nearby and we also have an old wooden sauna, which is normally warmed once a week. Last summer we build a beach volley court on the lawn and that soon became a common activity after the workdays. You can also go biking around (8km to nearest shop, there is also some pizza place and cafeteria nearby) and there is 10min walk to a bus stop from where it's a 20min ride to Helsinki. We also have wifi for volunteers.
