Beautiful green Galicia, a little-known region in north-western Spain, is where we have started making our home and centre for various activities.

We are a mixed-nationality, multi-cultural couple, Siets (Dutch, 42) and Tariq (English, 51) with professional backgrounds in hospitality, corporate marketing, rider and horse training and photography and art that we practised in various countries. Our family currently consists of 2 dogs, 2 horses and 3 cats.

We believe in a natural and holistic approach to all things. Our horses are barefoot, kept outdoors with 24/7 forage and access to shelter when they decide to use it. We will soon have chickens for free-range organic eggs, to keep the land free of some bugs and manage some of the horse manure.

We have 2 buildings on the property which accommodate our private living area, an art/print studio, a horse tack/feed room, a tool room, several bedrooms with ensuite-bathrooms for a few guests, and a communal kitchen and eating area.

Our project here is just beginning. We are setting up a place to host creative and active retreats, from art workshops to horse and rider training.

In return for help we offer accommodation and food in a beautiful countryside setting.

We need help with the land (gardening based on permaculture and organic principles, weeding and strimming, landscaping, etc), general DIY and maintenance (painting, wood care, cleaning areas), managing the horse pastures and helping to build a horse shelter and chicken house.

The help is quite physical, so you need to be fit and it would be preferable to have experience. You will need outdoor clothing for all types of weather (hot/cold, sun/rain).

We welcome single persons or couples (any gender or age).

There are a few things that we ask while staying here:
- no excessive drinking, no drugs
- no smoking indoors or while working
- no noise, parties or friends staying over
- that volunteers have emergency medical insurance for Spain

The accommodation will be your own room with en-suite bathroom, and own entrance, for a single person or couple (any gender or age). The rooms really are lovely.

Wifi is available but limited to basic usage. Please bring your own smart phone, tablet or laptop as there is no communal computer.

We will try to have some lunches together, otherwise you prepare your own meals in the communal kitchen/dining area.

There are free and wonderfully hot thermal springs in Ourense, river cruises and swimming in the River Miño, and ancient vineyards along the Ribeira Sacra. And of course around our place, there is the lake, beautiful countryside and beautiful nature walks...

There is an excellent public transport network and we can offer lifts into town.
