Welcome to our mixed farm and Vineyard. Approximately 1 hour (by car) north east of Melbourne we are located in a quiet peaceful valley on the edge of the beautiful Yarra Valley and close to the picturesque Dandenong Ranges.

Hi my name is Andrew and I will be your easy-going host here. I have been involved in organic agriculture, permaculture and viticulture for about 10 years and have travelled to different countries backpacking and have wwoofed many times around Australia. I am passionate about farming organically and living sustainably (sensibly) and try to live and work without impacting on the planet as best I can. I love to cook and can cook dishes from most cultures, but always learning more. I like to preserve excess fruit and vegetables throughout the year also, focussing on more traditional and simple techniques and recipes.

Accommodation here is shared in a large old, well-presented and tidy farmhouse. There are two rooms available, one with bunks (sleeps 4)and a queen room (sleeps 2). Well stocked kitchen and bathroom is shared. For the summer months there are 2 swimming holes nearby and for winter lots of fireplaces and heaters too!

Work here is varied but consists mainly of vineyard work, maintaining and expanding the vegetable garden (non certified organic),general property maintenance and housekeeping.

I believe each individual is different and has varying needs/expectations/talents and so I prefer not to have a set rule on the exchange arrangement; rather I prefer to communicate with you the helper(s) before your arrival so we can achieve the best mutual outcome. It does not matter if you have experience in farming either, but it is important that you come with a good positive frame of mind.

This farm is about 10 minutes drive from Gembrook so it is helpful if you have your own transport. Buses leave Gembrook to Melbourne regularly and pick-ups drop-offs are easy to organise with prior arrangement also.

If I have left out anything or you would like more info, please contact me. I look forward to hosting you and being a part of the helpx family.

Cheers, Andrew
p.s. pics to be added soon :)
