We are a couple who bought a piece of land with few ruins on this beautiful island. Last summer we spent clearing the land and this coming up summer we are hoping to bring 2 of the 4 ruins back to a "wall" status. Therefore, we are looking for an experienced stone worker who has built at least one house out of stone to help us and teach us how to work with stone and oversee the works being done.

We would like for the volunteers to work 5 hours a day 5 days a week, most likely morning time as it's less hot, and then have free time rest of the day. If the task requires continuous labor throughout the day we can arrange that we work one day and have one whole day off after or that we work 3 days in the row but then have 3 days free and so on... of course we would have to agree on it all together;)

We will provide an acommodation in the tent and 3 meals a day including drinks and snacks. On your day off you are welcome to eat with us as long as we are home and making food, but if we are out you need to provide for yoruself. Would be nice if you participate in food preparation and clean up as you may at the house, but its voluntary.

I do not cook meat, so most of the meals will be vegetarian but i can occassionally make an exception.
The island we live on is absolutely amazing and provides a lot of opportunities for exploring forgotten villages, empty beaches, as well as buzzing with life touristic seaside towns and turquoise blue water beaches.

In our village (its an abandoned village and we are the only ones living there so far) there is an awesome river in which we cool off few times a day and since its in a bit of a canyon it's about 15 degrees cooler than outside. Perfect spot for an afternoon chill.
The beach nearest to us is called Vassiliki, world famous for its termal winds and shallow waters perfect for windsurfing. We may even be able to work out a good deal for windsurfing gear for the volunteers.

As I mentioned before, this is an abandoned village so there is no electricity except for some solar power that we have put in our caravan. There is an outdoor shower and outhouse (to be constructed now), so you must be prepared to live in a very simple way. As it is Greece, the nights do not get too cold and the cool shower is actually desirable during the day. It's a bit of a "back to basics" lifestyle:)

We have a van so we can bring people to places and also have two bikes which are at the disposition of the volunteers.
Well, we are hoping you are excited about this and can help us out:)

PS. A little more about us:

We are a polish couple in our thirties. We have been both living for a while in Colorado, USA in our twenties. About eight years ago we decided to live, work and travel in Europe. After living for some time in Greece, Portugal and Spain, we ended up in Chamonix, France. We have spent our several most recent winters enjoying all the fun things one can do in the mountains. Then, a year ago we visited Greece again and ended up buying a small plot of land in an abandoned village, on an island called Lefkada. And so the new chapter of our lives begins..
In recent years we helped as volounteers on various projects during our travels. Now we would love to find some help ourselves, make new friends and create something a little special in this beautiful wild, old abandoned village.
Some of our Interests are: skiing/snowboarding, hiking, windsurfing, rock climbing, soccer, chess, tennis, traveling, spirituality, philosophy, meeting people, outdoor activities... and more! Did we mention collecting stamps? - we didn't? oh well, we actually don't (but not that there is anything wrong with that!:).
Wherever we went during our travels in the last few years, we always loved to invite people over and share the "local" knowledge, pointing to the great places in the area. We would love to share all the little local gems on this greek island, its simple but super delicious food and the relaxed lifestyle.
