Suitable for vegan and vegetarian helpers ( or those those willing to try something new).
If you are interested in becoming part of an exciting new wellness project involving international cultural exchange, community living, vegetarian cooking, yoga, meditation and being surrounded by Australian rainforest wildlife, our project is for you!
We are looking for helpers to get involved to create and develop our lovely Japanese style water garden and wellness eco retreat.
Specific work can involve:
Japanese water garden creation
Large bamboo bending
small house construction
Stabilising the forest tracks
Landscaping and garden paving
Planting and harvesting fresh foods ( including honey from our hives)
Pruning and weeding.
Creating outside eating area.
Building a new amenities block
Forest clearing for camping
Au Pair duties for our 12 year old daughter including school runs twice a day.
Establish a Bush track to the creek
No skills necessary but a keenness and enthusiasm for an adventure in nature connection.
In exchange for 4 hours of work a day (flexible hours for sightseeing) you will receive 3 vegetarian (or vegan) meals and accommodation.
We like help in preparing and clearing meals together.
Meals include green smoothies, fresh fruit juices, salads, vegetable curries and fruit deserts.
Accommodation is either in our house or our cosy caravan for singles or couples. For larger groups 4-10 people camping facilities are available .
If you would like to join us for yoga / meditation classes and or participate in a juice and wellness detox, this can be arranged either for a longer hours work exchange, or financial training costs.
In your free time you can explore the surrounding area, there any many rainforest walks, 35 mins drive from the beaches, local markets, access to glass house mountains for hiking or viewing, swimming in the creek star gazing or just relax with a book in the newly made hammock.
Native Australian wildlife can be seen on the property including Wallabies, King Parrots, Monitor Lizards, Snakes and other species. We protect our wildlife and have a no pets policy.
We live on a community of healers, educators and meditators. Our property also houses the Ananda Marga River School. As our vegetarian community is spiritually based, we refrain from smoking, alcohol and drug use and kindly ask you to also.
Our family has travelled extensively, throughout Asia, India, Africa, Europe, Mongolia and Japan and welcome international visitors and travelling adventurers.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Kate, Madhu and Rashmi.
UPDATE; Leilani from America arrived with her cooking expertise, helping our family to learn about excellent vegetarian pizza and delicious salads - great recepies to use during our catering retreats, with the additional comfort of a rock-walled fire pit, built by our French help-x guest, Jimmy, where visitors can now comfortably sit and enjoy the night sky's of stars.
We were amazed at the tenacity of jimmys rock wall work and more recently of Leilani's determined efforts to complete the path to the waterfall creek bed!
Fantastic team work and greatly appreciated!
Our fruit trees are taking off since Cassian visited, teaching us new systems for composting that truly work wonders in our orchard.
We are so glad that help-x visitors keep arriving to establish beauty and functional garden and home spaces.
Thanks to Lina and Sophia for the craft work in making the beautiful meditation mats for our circle. The garden's you weeded after the long week of rain, and the new beds look fabulous!
