ABOUT THE OPAL CENTRE:
OPAL consists of a house, Holistic Centre, outbuildings and garden area. It is in the heart of a rural part of Ireland, a small village called Donamon, which is approximately 15km outside of Roscommon Town. This makes it a great location for a peaceful and relaxed stay, whilst being fairly close to Roscommon town. It is a short drive from a number of great places to visit. There is no public transport from Donamon so you would need a car or bike to travel anywhere that is not in walking distance, although I am happy to give you a lift if I am going into town, etc.

Set in a rural environment it is an ideal location for a relaxing break, a retreat or fishing, walking, etc. whilst providing us with some help. We are a short walk from the river Suck and Donamon Castle.

OPAL offers a tranquil setting where you can escape from the distractions of modern day life. Our aim is to provide a peaceful and quiet environment, suitable for relaxation and retreat. For this reason there are no TV's, radios, etc.in the centre. However, there is a Wi-Fi connection which is provided via mobile broadband for you to use.

ABOUT ME:
I am open minded, fairly laid back, enjoy meeting people, interacting with others and also like times of solitude and stillness.
I live with my partner Bob in the house next to the OPAL centre. We both enjoy the quiet country life. As well as running our residential Holistic Centre, I teach Mindfulness and meditation and am also a cognitive psychotherapist. Both Bob and I also do some craft work. Bob enjoys working with stained glass and polishing various types of stones. I enjoy painting, making sculptures from wood and pieces of jewellery using gemstones. We enjoy gardening although we are not very skilled at this. I am also a writer.

HELP THAT I AM SEEKING:
I am looking for the following enthusiastic and self-motivated helpers:

Someone to help with general domestic duties (Cleaning, Ironing and preparing guest rooms etc.)

Someone to help with any of the following: General Maintenance - DIY, Painting, Basic Plumbing and Electrical Work, Gardening, etc.

Someone to help with clearing our small polytunnel and making some raised beds inside

Someone to help with fixing a leaking flat roof

Any helpers may also be required to help out in the centre in general when necessary.

The following options are available for helpers:

OPTION ONE - 12.5 HOURS HELP PER WEEK over 2 to 5 days (whichever you prefer).
In return I offer accommodation all week.

OPTION TWO - 20 HOURS HELP PER WEEK over 4 or 5 days
In return I offer accommodation all week and food for breakfast, lunch and dinner on each day that you work.

OPTION THREE - 25 HOURS HELP PER WEEK over 5 days
In return I offer accommodation all week and food for breakfast, lunch and dinner on each day of your stay including on your days off as well

I can cater for Vegetarians and other dietary requirements as long as I am made aware at least one week prior to your arrival. I am happy to interact with you or give you some space and privacy. If you wish, I can arrange some trips out during your free time to places of interest such as Rathcroghan Heritage Centre, Strokestown Famine Museum, local towns etc.

PLEASE GIVE DETAILS OF WHAT YOU CAN HELP WITH AND ANY EXPERIENCE YOU MAY HAVE. IF YOU HAVE SKILLS NOT LISTED ABOVE, PLEASE LET US KNOW AS WE MAY ALSO BE ABLE TO USE THESE.

What I offer in return:
A welcoming, friendly and relaxing environment. Accommodation and food as per your preferred option (see above). I would be happy to share meditation techniques if you wish. Also happy to share arts & crafts ideas.

Sorry, no pets. Jamie, the dog who lives with us is very friendly with humans but not so friendly with other animals.

Local Amenities:
Our local shop is approx. 8km and local pubs are approx. 4km and 8km. Roscommon town offers: Post Office, Banks, Library, Pubs, Cafes/Restaurants, Supermarkets, Gyms, Pharmacies, Castle, Organic Health and Food Store, Cinema, Leisure Centre with swimming pool

Places of local interest:
Donamon Castle, Rathcroghan Heritage Centre, Strokestown House and Famine Museum, Roscommon Museum, Castlecoote House, Elphin Windmill, Claypipe Museum, Roscommon Castle, Black Lake and River Suck, Mote Park, Hudson Bay (where you can get a boat trip down the River Shannon), Athlone town, Arigna Mining Experience, Kings House in Boyle and Carrick on Shannon with its marina.

If I am going into Roscommon Town, Carrick-on-Shannon or Athlone, etc., you are welcome to come along if you wish.

Please feel free to ask as many question as you would like. I hope to hear from you soon.
