COMMUNITY PROJECT - CONNECTING LOCALS AND TOURISTS
Hello, thanks for reading our profile!
My name is Katrin, I am looking forward to hearing from you, but please make sure to carefully read all below information and only reach out to us if you really feel passionate about it.
We believe that giving communities access to healthy, entertaining and insightful cultural exchanges with tourists can change the world, can replace fear and hatred with acceptance and love.
Do you feel passionate about making a difference and bringing positive change to the world? Are you proactive, independent and creative? Do you like people, building networks, being out there in the community? If all of that sounds like you, we would love to hear from you, we need your help!
We're a young, very ambitious nonprofit organization. Currently, we are getting established in Ponferrada, situated in the beautiful North/West of Spain, along the "Camino de Santiago", a popular pilgrimage across northern Spain.
Starting a new NGO, building a team and making it happen, is not easy, but extremely rewarding.
You need to bring a lot of good energy, have to be committed and resourceful. It's fantastic to see a project grow, to experience joyful cultural exchanges and work alongside inspiring people, it can't get much better than that!
You will be a crucial member of this young team, working mostly together with me, Katrin, (44) from Germany, Richard (33) from Chicago and other local or international volunteers.
Both, me and Richard are passionate travelers and experienced volunteers as well as hosts.
We work hard, but there is always time for socializing and fun. Working and living together with like minded people can inspire beautiful conversations, which is something I love. I have many good stories to share about my travels and I am very interested in hearing yours.
We can only consider helpers with a good level of English and Spanish.
An important part of our current work is to raise local awareness about our project, to built a local volunteer team, find other local organizations or institutions to collaborate with and inspire local people as well as tourists to participate.
Its best that you are outgoing and happy to be around people, that you have a natural inclination for networking and emerging yourself in a community.
The help we ask of you can be very diverse, from guiding our cultural exchanges, researching and contacting organizations about collaborating with us, handing out flyers, designing informative material, presenting us on social media. No day will be like the other, you have to be very solution oriented, flexible and confident. Of course, you will always be supported by the rest of the team, but you should understand that we expect a high level of independence in decision and action.
Being part of a young team as ours gives you ample opportunity to learn and grow, about how to operate a NGO, about interacting with people (project participants, collaborators and other team members), about how to grow from challenges.
Interacting with project participants on a regular level, you never know what you will learn next, the cultural diversity and insights are seemingly endless.
You will have your own room in a shared flat in the center of Ponferrada.
You will be in easy reach of supermarkets, tourist attractions, bars/restaurants and public transport.
Ponferrada is situated in the beautiful North/West of Spain, with many opportunities to hike, mountain bike, explore the surroundings and neighbour towns.
