This is a large old 18th century house in the countryside near Cork City which is a family home with dogs and cats. We are very easy going friendly household and have always had guests coming and going (although this is the first time with Helpx). We live in beautiful open countryside with fields and trees around for miles, but very close to local shops by bus/cycle. Kinsale, West Cork and Kerry are all within driving distance for fab days out and bus is two miles away but I can collect and drop back to buses and will give lifts when I can or you can borrow my bicycle. Nearest bus is two miles away but it can go into Cork city one way and all the way down to Dingle and the Kerry Coast the other way, so perfect for adventures when you want to get away. Cork is an amazing vibrant city but still has a small feel, gorgeous restaurants, music in the pubs most nights and there is a festival of some sort always going on around the city especially in the summer. To get away from it all this is a nice country setting but not far from city life and the beautiful Irish coastline.

I would like to offer accommodation from mid June, July and August to a 30+ couple with some plant knowledge in exchange for some horticultural work (potting, weeding, watering etc and general care of nursery plants). Non smokers and veggie or vegan people are welcome, but meat eaters welcome too. The house is big and your room is spacious and you would have a separate sitting room and eating area, with a large sash window and an open fire should you wish to use it.
I have reviews from other visitors which I attach below:

Marian will definitely advise you the directions for the same. Very good spot for photography with all the scenic beauty. Thanks for everything Marian! Good luck. Rgds.Ross

Marian went above and beyond to make our one night stay enjoyable. I had some car troubles when I arrived at Marian's house and she drove to the local mechanics to see if he could assist me, when he couldn't she sourced the details of another local mechanic and was available to assist me further when the breakdown assistance arrived. She made us tea when the dust had settled and offered wine as an option for something stronger! She was extremely welcoming and friendly, making conversation with the two teenagers we had with us. I would have no problem in recommending Marian's room to those looking for a spot outside of Cork but with many facilities nearby.

This was an absolutely fantastic place for a group of four friends to stay. It's a lovely old house with lots of character and charm. Marian was extremely accommodating and very friendly, providing everything we needed and giving us lots of great tips about things to see in the area. We are animal people, so we loved the cats and dog as well! I absolutely recommend this place for travellers with a car, it is well worth it to stay a bit out of the nearby cities for a peaceful gorgeous location and just a short drive to Cork and Blarney and many other spots. It's a great place to stay, with great people!
