WE ARE FULLY BOOKED WITH HELPX'ERS UNTIL EARLY SEPTEMBER - HOWEVER IF YOU ARE FEMALE AND HAPPY TO SHARE ACCOMMODATION, WE CAN POSSIBLY HELP YOU OUT :)
**IF YOU HAVE BEEN WORKING IN ANY KIWIFRUIT ORCHARDS PLEASE DO NOT APPLY - WE CANNOT TAKE THE RISK OF CONTRACTING PSA IN OUR KIWIFRUIT - THANK YOU**
Hi, we are friendly, easy-going hosts who would like to help you get the best out of your farm experience in NZ. We are 40 minutes from Wanganui township in a small, friendly, rural community. We farm sheep and cattle and also have 4 hectares of export kiwifruit. In Spring we raise calves & usually have pet lambs. We also have chickens, dogs, cats & horses.
If you can jump in and help out with whatever is happening (usually different every day!), have a reasonable level of English, a big smile and enthusiasm, we would love to hear from you :) We always need help in the Kiwifruit orchards and there are other jobs around the farm & house, also gardening, depending on the time of year. Work can vary from a few hours to longer days, balanced out with days off to explore or relax. Get involved in daily farm life. Most of our helpers have enjoyed the opportunity to interact with the kids who attend our small, local country school. Share family meals, or cook us your traditional dishes.
Separate, comfortable accommodation with queen & single beds, own bathroom, TV & DVD player. Internet access. Other recreational opportunities if the weather is right, and the chance to try NZ Venison, Wild Pork or Blue Cod. Bicycles, swimming & spa pools. We can collect you from town if you don't have a vehicle.
