Summer discription:

besides our work on the farm we organise international workcamps, long-term stays, and voluntary work in different companies as printery, carpentry, farming, nursery

If you like to learn milking cows or driving an old tractor, cutting hedges, shear sheep, build fences or throw honey, test your strength in the muck or while digging the garden - you should join us.
If you find dung and greens not so interesting, we understand :-)
We are a living and working community with different workshops and bio-dynamic farming in Germany, Baden-Wuerttemberg.
We are doing carpentry, printing, video production, publishing and distribution - it is always possible to help. Depending what you want to learn, you can help.
We have four more than less old houses here in the village, so we also have to do a lot of construction work. The farming we do is not a business for us to earn money. We do it because we think farming is an important part in a holistic way of life. We have sheep, four cows, three of them will have a calf in summer, one calf is already born and one rind (I just don't know the English word for it), we grow weed and rye, vegetables, we make butter, bread, marmelade, juice, we preserve vegetables and fruit and -sometimes - we try to make cheese (but this not always crowned with success. :-))
In summer we always have three month with workcamps for students from all over the world from the beginning of June til the end of August.
We always try to integrate our guests in our everyday life. We eat and work together and we have fun together. Of course, sometime we also have trouble all together. :-)

Herzliche Einladung!

Workcamps this year

Our experiences from the last years have given us the impression that more and more people who register to our workcamps are predomininatly interested in tourism. We are not the right place for such people. We would like to have a learning and working atmosphere in which we can share a lively exchange with our interested guests.
With this premise, after a two-year break, we are continuing the twelve-year tradition of our Summer-Workcamps. We are happy to receive your application and would be pleased to have a short explanation of why you would want to take part of our camps.

Place

Dürnau is a small village in the heart of "Upper Swabia", sitting between Stuttgart and Lake Constance. The nearby nature reserve surrounding Federsee, the proximity to the Danube Valley and the short distance to the Alps offers a multitude of possibilities for lovely and meaningful leisure activities.

Activities

The tasks of the Workcamp provide primarily for the upkeep and care of the community grounds and the support of various ongoing projects within the Kooperative. This year we envision the following tasks:

- Continuation of the network of garden paths already underway
- Uprooting and replacing of hedges, berry-harvesting
- Dung removal and composting
- Hay harvesting
- Help with construction work
- Assistance in dishwashing and cleaning up after meals

In case of bad weather, participants can help with simple construction work.

Free time

In addition to the access to sporting activities like cayaking, biketours and mountain trekking in the Danube Valley and the Alps, we can off participants short courses in the operation of the Kooperative Dürnau, such as bookbinding, paper marbelling, making beehives, as well as bread-baking, butter-making, and canning methods. We can attend performances, speech art, produce a video, and will gladly offer advice for a theatre group.
Climbers are welcome.

Scheduled dates

We have organised for this year three workcamps on the following dates:

01.06.2017 to 30.06.2017
01.07.2017 to 31.07.2017
01.08.2017 to 31.08.2017
