We are a couple living and working our everyday-life in Norway´s largest ecovillage. In weekends and holidays we travel to our conference-center in Sweden – GaiaGården. Since we are working (teacher, therapist, holistic organization) during the week, we have started to feel the burden of work in our spare time. We have to admit: We need help.
GaiaGården is a wonderful, pristine place at the border between Norway and Sweden. It started as the local school in 1953, but since the pupils were moved to another school we were able to buy it in 2010.
We changed the place into a bed and breakfast - sort of little hotel with facilities for workshops, conferences, retreats, festivals, concerts or just a holiday place for families and groups. Our pillars are ecophilosophy, holism and equality.
We usually serve breakfast, but the kitchen is equipped for serving lunch and dinner too.
There are two big rooms – one for yoga, arts, movies and workout (the ”Yogaroom”) – the other for concerts, dancing, lectures and workshops (the ”Gaiaroom”).
There are 4 double rooms and one room with 4 beds with minikitchen and fridge.
We have 2 showers, 4 toilets and a sauna.
There is a room dedicated to reading and different media with big sofas and a conference-table (the ”Worldroom”).
The dining room is full of light and memories. (If you listen closely, you might hear the children talking and laughing.)
Outside is a big lawn for football, all sorts of sports and games, tents and concerts. We have a herb circle, strawberry field, flowerbeds, two campfires with benches in a circle which sits a 100 people and a playground for children.
Fields of flowers, grass and big woods surrounds GaiaGården. Not far there are small lakes for fishing and swimming. We have a canoe.
15 minutes drive from GaiaGården is a huge shopping center where you can buy everything you need. There are busses, but they are not frequent.
We are hoping to get your help and would love to house a couple – maybe also with children. Age from 35 or older. You will be running the place during weekdays in spring and autumn. You can even stay here during wintertime and look after the heatingsystem! There are great skiing all around and a skiing center near by.
During summer we are mostly at GaiaGården, but you are welcome to join us at the ecovillage in Norway too. There are approximately 120 people living there close to a big lake, farm, café and ecoshop – Hurdal Ecovillage. You can stay at our small house or we rent rooms for you at our community house.
We have two cars and can lend you one of them if needed.
We need you to help us with mostly everything:
Cutting grass, painting, repairing all sorts of things, carpentry, weeding, making new places in the garden or the surroundings for meditation, creative garden designs, plumbing, cleaning, pick berries, mushrooms, herbs and apples, making jams, making our webpage nice, helping us arranging festivals and workshops, taking care of visitors, making food and help us get more visitors….
We have been so busy working and making the place nice, that we have had no time to advertise and get people to actually know about the place.
We are looking forward to get in touch with people interested in ecology and making guests enjoy and get positive energy at GaiaGården.
