Bev runs an organic pastoral farm specialising in livestock breeding suitable for organic or biological methods.
Bev is active in running the biological farmer regional group with field days The farm have been chosen as a demonstration flagship site for the nearby Kaipara Estuary Restoration project and work closely with them to restore natural habitat on the farm to protect the Kaipara harbour.
The farm is essentially a restorative agricultural enterprise with a significant educational off farm endeavour.

At present (autumn 2016) we are looking for some one to live in the self contained accommodation and look after the teenage kids whilst we are away on conference leave.
It is really about keeping a steady ship and kids on track. No farm work as mostly all done at the moment. Just the sundry dogs and cats that the kids feed. There is plenty to keep occupied in the run up before we leave.
Barry comes three times a week to do property maintenance.
earthy practical types who are mature, capable and firm who enjoy a rural environment would enjoy their stay with plenty of relaxing walks and time to read when kids are at school.
Kids love to cook and help and make great bread. They also help with all chores and garden as well as caring for assorted goats, chickens dogs and cats. They do their own washing and get on with homework.
They prepare their own school lunch the evening before.
They need to be dropped off at school bus a short drive to end of road. Car is made available, valid driving licence required.
Farm animals are all set up for the period we will be away.
We expect that the helper would come a week before we leave to get the hang of it and get used to kids.

Dave works off-farm but when at home is a keen vegetable grower and learning orchardist and also helps organise a local group of the Alternative Technology Assn, with particular interests in earthbuilding and alternative energy. He's also a great cook and budding preserve maker!

We always have students, HelpXers, trainees, etc coming and helping or working with us in various capacities on the farm and we much enjoy the hosting experience. We also have two lively kids, Ella 15 and Rus 14, who absolutely love the company and attention of our helpers, staff and and other guests, as also do our dogs and myriad other animals. There are always lots of things going on to get involved with.

We have some very comfortable and stylish self contained accommodation for our helpers consisting of 2 bed/sitting rooms with kitchenettes, and bathroom. So you can chill out on your own or join in the family activities in the evenings. You will also have free broadband internet access an stunning views. We have a well-stocked veggie garden which provides most of the vegetables we eat and we enjoy the meat we raise too, and we and are constantly reminded of the marked difference in taste & quality to supermarket bought food.

We have a preference for guests who have an interest in farming or the practical side of self sufficiency in a real sense, perhaps to apply in their own situation. Helpers need to appreciate that this is a working farm and we work hard and expect the same from our visitors, so please don't apply unless you enjoy mucking in and helping out in the broadest sense.
Helpers are expected to work during day and to get involved with what is going on through each day and then take a break at weekends with us to explore the region. This may also include stays up north in holiday home meals or movies out. Help is of course also expected with preparing meals and tidying up afterwards and other daily living too.Basicly another family member pulling their weight and making the most of it. We particularly love helpers who take turns with us in cooking the evening meal to give us a break from our busy schedule & commitments. That way we also get to try new food ideas too
Various buses from Auckland come north through our local town of Warkworth, where we can pick you up (20mins from the farm). Please note there are no shops or public transport nearer the farm.
The farm is about 25 mins from Warkworth, wells ford or Helensville.
