This farm is at the edge between the forest and cultivation, in a hidden valley of the Chianti, 30 minutes form Florence. The NEW part of the villa dates fron 1600. The foundations are Roman. Ghosts available. A long history of disputes on heritage now resolved, I am back to my roots to reclaim the land, which has gone a bit wild...Chestnut forest to tidy up, Olive trees to tend, and I want to plant figs, raise chicken and geese, produce timber.
You can learn to cook Italian if interested.
I mean REAL Italian.

A first round of Helpers-John and Ben from UK came round and got so enthusistic we ended up having two other friends of theirs. They did a great job.
Since then, we have gone along way, and Helpers played an important role.
Now we even have the Jacuzzi working..but don't expect luxury.
The homestead is now reconstructed, we are down to the fineries- second coat of painting, hanging the curtains, etc
Winter has come and gone - boy, it was cold! But we love being cozy and looking at the snow outside. I soak in the Jacuzzi with a book and a capuccino and when I raise my eyes, there are the chestnut trees.. feeling sorry for the freezing blackbirds perching on the branches.
Now the work to do is outdoors. in the fields, in the orchard an in the garden.
As I write, April 2017, the cherry trees are in full bloom, fields are full of flowers and the deer come to graze on the new grass in the lawn.
At sunset, standard procedure is to listen to some opera arias to accompany white wine..Have subscribed to NY Met streaming, getting gorgeous stuff.
Ok, but this is no luxury resort. We do expect helpers to work seriously and earn their keep.
And we have established some house rules:

1- The house is heated with firewood in chimneys and stoves. Means we have to keep a constant supply of firewood going, collecting it it and stocking it to dry.
Fortunately there is an endless supply in the woods that surround the house, and we have a power saw which make the job easy-personally, I enjoy the exercise.
2- It is a constant effort to keep the house clean and tidy. Guests are expected to contribute, keeping their room tidy and clean, and to do their share for bathrooms and kitchen.
3- Should you meet the ghost of my grandmother Luisa, don't be afraid but greet her kindly (she speaks Spanish, French, German, and some English, but she is very formal).
