Planning to visit Rotorua? We can offer you your own private accommodation in this tourist mecca famous for Maori cultural experiences, geothermal activity, spas, hot pools, nature parks, biking & outdoor adventures. Our sleepout (cabin-studio-bedsit) has a comfortable, firm king-size bed, unlimited high-speed wifi, a basic kitchenette with a fridge, microwave & a few appliances. Your private ensuite has a toilet, handbasin & shower. There is secure off-street parking for you inside the gate right in front of the sleepout, plus there's an exterior powerpoint to hook up your van.

This very modest accommodation is available in exchange for an equally modest amount of time housekeeping, lawn mowing, weeding, window cleaning, gutter cleaning, various repairs and maintenance... tasks that suit the weather and your abilities. We're totally flexible about work start & finish times and ask 2 hours work per person per night. If you prefer, you can do hours in advance to have full days entirely free & just be a tourist exploring the many offerings of this region.

We have a long list of improvements to restore the property to a pristine state. We also welcome guests' suggestions based on your talents and work experience. Unless you have skills of exceptional value - eg builder, plasterer, painter, electrician, carpenter etc - the usual maximum stay is one week.

NO MEALS PROVIDED. HelpXers are responsible for their own personal supplies & meals. Beautifully clean fresh bedding & towels are provided. There is a lovely large supermarket a few minutes' walk away. You will also find a small supply of donations in the sleepout - feel free to add your own "koha" of supplies you don't want to take when departing.

The washing machine and stove in the main house are both readily available by prior arrangement. There is minimal 'stuff' in the sleepout to maximise your space there but just ask if you need anything more -eg rack & hangars for clothing? swivel chair & desk for laptop? Just ask and if we have it, we'll gladly provide.

Our suburb is Fairy Springs. As well as the supermarket, several takeaway food outlets and suburban bus stops on Fairy Springs Road (SH5) are very close. The Skyline Luge Gondola can be seen from our driveway.

If it is essential for you to share meals and spend lots of free time with a chatty host family in an upmarket situation, this is NOT the place for you. It is ideal for self-reliant, self-catering HelpXers who value privacy and a good night's sleep or wwoofers wanting a quiet suburban break.

We go out of our way to give guests privacy while still glad to offer suggestions based on our local knowledge. We're well travelled internationally so we know exactly how it is to be in a foreign environment.

We receive multiple various enquiries each day. If you do not confirm arrangements ASAP after receiving our response to your initial enquiry, that response will be out of date very quickly. Many HelpXers make an enquiry but do not reply promptly or do not reply at all... hopefully because they're out having fun :) It was taking a lot of our time chasing people for confirmations and providing individuals with updates so we no longer do that. Instead, we update the 'Next Vacancies' information at the top of this listing when a new booking is confirmed.
