I am currently looking for two, committed adults age 22 or above to help with various projects on our farm.
Silverleaf is a young farm hoping to one day become a permaculture community filled with like-minded, organic, earth-friendly individuals.
The farm's current need is to have one helper who has skills or interest with carpentry, electrical, water harvesting, organic gardening and other things to help our project manager on achieving farm goals.
Since, the farm is young and not as organized as we hope to be, the person suitable for this position needs to be able to roll with punches, utilize reclaimed lumber, and other materials and occasionally move from one project to another if things work out that way. Carpentry skills is a plus for this position.
We have need for another helper. The person suited for this role will help me with my off-grid, sustainable home. Our home is a four, shipping container unit being built by me. The home is in process, as myself and one other person has been doing all the work including welding, backhoe work, etc.
My helper will aid me in building projects including:
*repurposing a 60 foot grain silo as a roof on my root cellar *Building cobb and cordwood walls on our 22foot, nine-sided-cordwood guest home *Doing decorative inside cobb work on our 18 foot earthbag berm structure *greenhouse upkeep and food production *firewood harvesting *spring, and rain-water systems *solar heating and power projects.
Work-trade will be a minimum of 4 hours/day, 5 days/week outside of work-trade hours depending on interests:
**Organic Gardening **Animal care **rock garden- design and planting **Water Harvesting **Rocket Stove Building **Landscaping **soil retention
In trade for the 20 hours of help we will prepare breakfast and dinner most weekdays. There will be food you can prepare the rest of the time, or we can trade off meal-responsibilities.
Accommodation for the farm-helper is a bed inside our community house which is currently peopled by 2 other folks in their 20's. This is where people come to assemble most evenings.
My helper will stay in a small camper in our yard or choose to tent camp at specified places across the property.
Amenities include high speed internet, light electrical access for phones or laptop, shower, and root cellar for food storage.
Our home is located on a clean salmon river 20 miles Northeast of Astoria, Oregon. Surrounding areas are mostly timber, and filled with numerous wildlife and gorgeous views. We are also just 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean!
