Australian bushland, teeming with goannas, lizards, kangaroos, and some koalas. Beautiful views and places to explore. We are currently building a sustainable, off grid, home and would love a hand with the building, even if you have never done this before. You will learn lots about sustainability and the Australian countryside. While we build accommodation is in a comfortable float beside the house - meals etc all shared with our family. Family (all well travelled) includes Sonia, usually a zoologist but working full time with the horses at the moment & Max, environmental advisor, and son Brooke is paraglider and professional photographer. A fun, busy environment. Sonia loves cooking great food and our volunteers really enjoy the meals, healthy and tasty. We enjoy people who are bright, enthusiastic, enjoy conversation and able to work efficiently. We have a litter of puppies due on the 9th November - labradoodles. Our farm is home to goannas, 34 species of birds and lots of little lizards and skinks. Beautiful and endangered Brigalow Belt country. Our horses are endurance racing arabian horses and we have a couple of lovely donkeys which are good to ride also. Experienced riders always welcome for endurance horse training and sometimes riding in events if suitable weight and experience wise. Hours vary, some days are quite busy and long, others very easy and short. Two full days a week off to either explore the local area. We are quite close to Bunya Mountains and Coomba Waterfalls for swimming, so head that way when its quiet sometimes. Work is a mixture of some animal work and general farm stuff depending on the sort of thing that you prefer, and what needs doing at the time. Please text or email me as first contact, straight to our address, as we don't clear the Helpx one often, and provide a phone number if you have one. Pictures are of us, then pictures of people who have stayed and visited from overseas and some of our animals, although there is one of Roxy the fox we had in South Australia, but wasn't able to come to Queensland with us. We look forward to meeting you soon!
