Hello there and many thanks for your interest.
We run a tourist hostel, language school and traditional pub in a beautiful Victorian house located on Achill Island, Co. Mayo, on the west coast of Ireland. (The island is linked to the mainland by a bridge).

If applying to stay with us, please note the following:

--Tell us your approximate arrival date and how long you would like to stay.
--Give us brief details of any experience or skills you might have.
--Please have a photograph of yourself on your profile.
--You must be proficient in English. There is a lot of interaction with our guests, in person and sometimes on the phone.
--Note that we usually prefer stays of 3 weeks or longer if possible.

We live in a beautiful location and if you like water sports, surfing, hill walking etc, you will love it here. We are 10 mins walk to the sea and great beaches. It's very quiet here in the low season but busy from June to September. We enjoy many good music sessions around the fire in our pub and everyone is welcome to join in. We have a lake and woods on our grounds was well as a pitch and putt (short golf) course. We also have a Faerie Trail running through our woods.

We have a very friendly, easy going team here. We work hard and play hard!
Generally the work involves hostel tasks (checking in and out, helping with breakfast, cleaning), light maintenance, painting, gardening.

It gets busy from April onwards and very busy in July and August. In June and July, we run language summer camps for Irish teenagers. You will not have any involvement with the students as there are separate staff for the language school. In the low season, we do more maintenance work, in the high season it's mostly help in the hostel. For 25 hours work per week, we offer accommodation, breakfast and will provide food for the main evening meal, which you will either cook for yourself as a team or will be provided by the chef, depending on the time of year you are here.

Depending also on the time of year, we have accommodation in the hostel, in an Annexe building off our courtyard or in a mobile home. Rooms are dormitory style usually with bunk beds, about 2 to 4 people per room. Males and females are in separate rooms. There is very limited accommodation for couples for some months of the year, check with us.

Please let us know when applying if you have any dietary restrictions.
We offer free wi-fi and free access to laundry facilities.
