Description
"Farming is the new hipster occupation"

***Peruvian Jungle Kibbutz***

We are Josh and Arianna and we own a small urban farm placed in the centre of Jaen, Cajamarca (just two blocks from the main square).
Actually Jaén is located in the cloud/fog forest of Peru (it is a weird jungle, people here don't look, act or think like Peruvian Humans from the Jungle).

My husband Josh is an expat from the USA and I´m a peruvian young poet. We used to live in Lima, but a couple years ago we decided to move to the jungle in order to live close to the nature (our own jungle dream).

Finally we moved to Jaen betwen sept-oct 2013. Our son Hasday was born here on november 2013. We also have a four year old daughter, Hannah.

We are interested on hosting people, work together and enjoy.

We want to breed goats and make cheese, build chicken coops and grow organic vegetables.

We offer lots of coffee, tasty food, a cozy place to stay and fun!

Our property is placed tw... more inside

Our hostel is located in the heart of Huaraz, the trekking and mountaineering capital of Peru, nestled in the beautiful, glacier-clad mountains of the Cordillera Blanca. Here you are surrounded by breathtaking Andean landscapes, enchanting Andean culture, and adventurers from all over the world.

We are looking for an organized and responsible volunteer (or two!) to help out at the hostel for a minimum of three weeks. However, the longer you can stay the better!

Volunteer duties include:

• Checking in & out of guests
• Organizing reservations
• General cleaning and maintenance
• Basic bookkeeping
• Coordination & communication with clients

You would work six days a week, and the hours are pretty flexible day-to-day. The volunteer will, however, need to be available early in the morning when the majority of the clients arrive to town for check-in.

In exchange for your help, we offer the following:

• Room & board
• Breakfast
• Free day tours with our agency (i... more inside

UPCOMING EVENT NOVEMBER: CONSTRUCTION WORKSHOP with local traditional adobe (mud bricks) builder.//
Our farm is below Corongo in Northern Ancash, 6-7 hours drive from Huaraz. English mandatory. ONE MONTH MINIMUM STAY. We teach "natural farming" and search for voulunteers that want to learn about it. We recommend reading "The One Straw Revolution" by Masanobu Fukuoka, for information about what it is.
Our farm is about 2600 masl but we have fields until about 3500 meters altitude, for the cultivation of many highland crops and frost-resistant crops from the northern hemisphere. We run a small seedbank.
Natural farming has influences from southern China; from Daoism, but also from traditional ways of mountain-peoples from Amerika to Europe and India. It is spiritual farming, searching for the Sacred Road ; Dao. It is about reverence for life, like Albert Schweitzer called it; to tread softly on the ground.
One of our main principles is: No Burning (except for firewood in the st... more inside

Description:
Our accommodation is located in Santiago de Surco, a beautiful residential area of Lima, very close to touristy areas like Barranco or Miraflores. We have enough space to accommodate 8 travelers per night. As our accommodation is small we give our guests a different and more personal service. We started hosting travelers as a hobby in 2009 and started this project in 2012. Since then we have been quite successful and now our accommodation is a favorite among travelers who visit Lima. As we are now quite busy we are looking for a volunteer to support us a bit.
