We are a small grassroots community located on the Tambopata River in Puerto Maldonado, in the lovely Peruvian Amazon. We offer a tranquil work experience in the Peruvian Rainforest for all kinds of travelers and volunteers!

NO MORE PLACES FOR MARCH-APRIL :(

This is a peacefull place, 3 hour away from Lima by the river on the feet of a big Apu mountain. Good climate all year... We are growing with organic biointensive. Also growing fruit trees... Also have been building the place with natural building (bio-construction)
Vegetarians, meditation and yoga practice, temazcal...

At Tierra Langla we see work - building and working in the garden - as something that comes from within, as something we feel we want to do, not as something we are compelled to do as part of an equation of exchange. This means that we don't specify particular hours of work in exchange for accommodation and/or food. You do not need to pay for accommodation here, and we share the costs of food between us. To make this a bit more simple, we ask for a contribution of -at least- 50 soles a week (or 10 soles per day if you're planning on staying for less time).

We are a family with 3 children and we have a small farm close to the Amazon forest. We own 25 ha but cultivate only 6, the rest we are reforesting slowly the natural way, we try not to disturb this part to much so we have a lot of native animals running around.

We grow coffee, cacao and mango mainly. We have many indigenous plants (medicinal and food) that we let grow wild (we weed selectively) and are willing to share our knowledge with the volunteers.
We have other crops for our own consumption like yucca, uncucha (root crop), banana, papaya, lemon, oranges, masasamba, ginger, pineapple, avocado, and corn for the animals.
We use the wild crops for consumption but this depends on the season. In dry season the wild crops usually dry out and appear again the next rainy season.

We have some chicken, turkey, ducks and guinea pig for our own consumption too. Other animals are the dogs and cats (not for consumption ;-) )

In harvesting season, between February and June, we h... more inside
