We have a family business running charter fishing boats in the Bay of Plenty and Whangamata. On a daily basis we take locals and tourists fishing and sightseeing. There is work to be done on the vessels with cleaning and general maintenance, but also the opportunity to go out on the trips yourself to learn to be a deckhand and how to catch fish, during the colder months when there is bad weather we don't run as many trips as in the summer. Our property is in a quiet, secluded part of Welcome Bay and you will stay with us in the house in your own room. We have great views that look out over Tauranga and a swimming pool which is great in the summer to cool down after working in the garden.
We have extensive flower gardens, a productive vegetable patch and have many different fruit trees in the orchard. Help with general maintenance, pruning and weeding is definitely on the agenda. We turn alot of our fruit and vege into jams and chutneys.
My hobby is breeding chickens of a...

We are fully booked until the end of this year (lucky us!). We will update our profile if this changes.
We are an easy going family consisting of mum, dad and 2 boys (7 and 15 years old). Nathalie is a teacher and Kerry is an accountant, both working mainly from home. Our children are homeschooled. We are looking for someone to come and help us out for 3 hours a day (9 am to 12 noon) in return for food and accommodation. We would mainly like help with our youngest son and maybe some gardening, we are pretty flexible, let us know what your strengths and hobbies are.
The ideal person would have lots of energy and like to spend time in the garden and also like being around young children, reading them books or playing with them. Because of the latter we would prefer a helper with a good command of the English language.
Non-smokers only please and no drug users or heavy drinkers. We would prefer a non-vegetarian or if you are vegetarian and are happy to cook your own meals tha...

Hi,
Now looking for help from 15 July 2013 onwards.
We're Pete, Angie & Alex (8), an English family, living the kiwi dream on 3.5acre lifestyle bloock! We have ducks, chickens, pigs, goats, cats & a dog. Our aim is to be as self-sufficient as possible so we try to grow alot of our own veggies the kiwi way.
We have a mid-century 3 bedroom house which we are renovating with larger than normal gardens & pond that need constant attention. We also have a spray free Avocado Orchard & are 5km south of Katikati with self contained accomodation for helpers (2 bedrooms & bathroom). There are always projects on the go so help is always appreciated. Work could include sanding woodwork, painting, gardening, weeding, pruning, animal care, or helping with any number of odd jobs, depending on the weather and what you are capable of doing. All meals provided in the house with us. Accomodation and all meals in exchange for 4-5 hours working per day max of 5 days per week.(we're pretty flexi...

We have a simple living lifestyle block 20 minutes out of Tauranga, dedicated to sustainability and self sufficiency with sheep chickens and dogs. There is no access by public transport. We can teach wine making skills as well as share our experiences in gardening and vegetable and fruit preservation, bottling, drying as well a turning into wine. We hope you will have a choice of tasks to do for four hours in return for full board and homemade wine. :-) We like to have simple projects, such as a new chicken room, berry cage or sheep shelter so you have a sense of accomplishment. Food wise we can do vegetarian, vegan [with help] as well as home reared omnivorous catering. to sleep, you may have the spare double bedroom, or a pop-top camper outside or couch according to availability.

We are a middle aged couple running a country garage. Our kids are all grown up. In our spare time we look after our little farm, some sheep, some cattle, pigs, chicken and goat. Everything grows so fast in the Bay of Plenty, especially the weeds, so we always need help in our garden. We have two cats and two big, friendly dogs. We grow and eat our own meat. We need a mature, non-smoking, self-organised person, which is not a vegetarian to give us a hand with house and land. We have space for a single person. We live close to the beach and also close to the Rotorua lakes and enjoy all the hobbies this area has to offer. Our home is on a 2ha lifestyle block, which also accommodates our business. We have a small orchard with a variety of fruit trees, a vegetable garden and a big garden around the house with goldfish ponds and large lawns and lots of flowers. Our house is lovely warm, facing the sun and with a wood fire and a heat pump for cold winter nights. With all this we are a...

I breed Suri alpacas on our Twelve acres. Recently I have injured my back and am unable to attend to some of my farm chores so was wondering if someone would enjoy a stay in the lovely Bay of Plenty with free accommodation in their own separate little studio cottage in exchange for approx 2hrs of physical farm work/day (the work may include feeding stock, pulling weeds, cleaning troughs, pruning trees, clearing drains etc.) The work day begins early (approx. sunrise which is around 7:30am at the moment) so there should be plenty of time for sightseeing and enjoying the area's activities outside of your work hours.
As we live out in the country, having access to your own vehicle is essential.
You will need to provide your own food, but there is free internet for checking emails, great showers, free laundry facilities and free use of linen etc... The cottage has a small bench-top oven and a hot plate along with a fridge, microwave, electric frying pan, toaster, and kettle. The...
