Hi, we are friendly, easy-going hosts who would like to help you get the best out of your farm experience in NZ. We are 40 minutes from Wanganui township in a small, friendly, rural community. We farm sheep and cattle and also have 4 hectares of export kiwifruit. In Spring we raise calves & usually have pet lambs. We also have chickens, dogs, cats & horses.
If you can jump in and help out with whatever is happening (usually different every day!), have a reasonable level of English, a big smile and enthusiasm, we would love to hear from you :)

We have a 7 acre farmlet between Wanganui and Palmerston North. Our main project is our garden but we also have two horses available for riding, 5 dogs, calves to check and two cats.
We ask for four hours work a day in return for meals, accommodation and access to wifi.

We live in the NOrth Island 5mins from BULLS which is on the main State Highway 1 and very near a bus stop. 30 mins away from Palmerston North, 25 mins away from Wanganui. Farming beef,sheep and cropping and have HORSES (polo ponies and hunters)that always need exercising-(must be an experienced rider).Most work is outdoors or rainy days some indoor chores. contact us by either text phone or email.

We are 660 meters from the beach on a life style block with chickens, cows, a cat and a dog. We have 2 school aged children and both work part time. We have a sleep out with own toilet and shower for use by guests. We are looking for people who can help with general house hold and gardening work. If you have building skills or can do farm work (fencing, weeding etc.) that can come in handy too. We ask for 4 hours of work in return for food and accommodation. We are flexible about hours etc. Travel to Wanganui is 15 mins by car, no public transport here, sorry. We are not available from late May till early July. (2013)

Family orchard and alpaca stud on Wanganui city boundary with 6 kms to City centre - Main crops are walnuts, with apples, feijoa, kiwifruit, citrus, plums and pears for home use. Member of Tree Crops Association
Small Alpaca stud (9 animals) and suffolk sheep (13 animals) -also 1 old dog, 3 cats, 5 guinea pigs, 2 canarys and a budgie.
We have a self contained apartment, called "the Loft" for helpers accommodation - breakfast available in the loft,lunch in the kitchen at the end of our work and dinner is a family occasion in the main house.
Lisa is a registered nurse, Murray is a stay at home Dad and business advisor working from home - 4 children under 13 years. As a family we have had some wonderful expereinces over the past two years with helpers in our property and we are looking forward to continuing to meet interesting people from other countries and cultures.

We require 2 people who are self motivated and fun. We have gardens that require some love, assistance with general building and cleaning.
We live beside the river, have a variety of crafts for use and the environment is peaceful and fun.
Mangaweka is a small community with lots of young people, some with small families - so extra money could be made with evening childcare.
We can provide accommodation and meals in exchange for 4-5hrs per day. Prefer if you stay at least 5 days.

We live on our sheep and beef hill country farm, near the Ruahine Ranges. It is 35-40 minutes to the closest towns (Taihape and Feilding). We have wireless satellite internet, but no cellphone coverage, although this is available from the nearest hilltop. It is approx 1hr 40mins to to the Ski slopes and two hours to Lake Taupo. Fly Fishing in the local river is just 10 minutes away.
Depending on your skills base we require help with childcare, cooking, cleaning, gardening, painting, odd jobs, weed/pest control, scrub cutting, farm work. And depending on the work you end up doing some of it might be paid - we are not totally into slave labour :)
We have a cat and dogs and 2 young children - (6) and (4) We do eat meat most nights. Would prefer non-smokers and people wanting to stay for a minimum of 5 days (but this is flexible).

Cat and house sitting. Available from 13 April (4 weeks minimum stay)
Whanganui is on the west coast of the North Island about half way between New Plymouth and Wellington. There are quite a lot of things to do in the area and it is a good base for exploring from. Our property is set on a big garden, on the outskirts of the city (so own transport is important). The setting is semi-rural, quiet and relaxing. It is quiet but our adult children and previous back packers have all loved staying here - it is a great place to relax and unwind at.
We are usually away for at least three nights during the week but sometimes for the whole week and/or weekend. You are free to go away (or stay) when we are home. In return for free private accommodation in a fully self contained furnished "studio style" unit you would need to look after our two very spoilt cats and free range chickens, mow lawns, clean the house and carry out some general duties (total 20 hours light duties per week)....

Inspired to join Helpx from my sister who is also host in Auckland. I am a working professional who is at work during the day living with my 19yr old son.
We are looking for a couple who can assist us with all household duties, including cooking dinners and especially the gardens which is the main project.
Ask 4hrs a day in lieu for meals and accommodation, wireless internet available, bus stop just out the door.
We live 20mins walk to the central city and within 5mins to the popular Kowhai Park which is next to the Whanganui river also the weekly saturday market.
