I am German and have lived in New Zealand for almost 20 years. My two children live here half the week (4yr and 16yr), which tends to be the more social half of the week (other half I work a lot). We have a Kiwi dog, 6 kiwi chickens and 2 Kiwi guinea pig.

Only five minutes drive from Hutt city, or 20 min to Wellington by train.

We live amidst a very beautiful native bush setting with a small stream running through the property, lots of Fantail, Kererus, Tui and other native birds. Enjoy unlimited access to the bush via walking tracks which go right to the top of the hills above Wainuiomata via fire breaks, or take a quick 20-minute loop walk to work up an appetite before dinner.

Right now I am looking for someone mainly for painting, gardening work and some cleaning. Anyone with woods skills would also be very handy. If you can handle a chainsaw let me know! You must be happy to work if it's raining as most work is outdoors.

The suggested arrangement is for you to... more inside

Please Note the Next Vacancy APRIL 2018

We are a middle aged, fit couple who enjoy meeting people from around the world. It would be a bonus to have assistance of 4 hours a day as we are often busy, and our lovely house and section has lots of challenges.

We live close to Wellington CBD, the Capital of New Zealand. There is good transport. We live 10 minutes by road to the Wellington railway station and the Cook Strait Ferry to/from the South Island (Interislander). [We will try and pick up helpers.] We live in the suburb of Johnsonville which is 20 minutes by rail (on a scenic line) to the city. Johnsonville has its own shopping centre. The Intercity buses have a stop at Johnsonville - (Naked Bus does not).

We can host a couple or two friends, or an individual. There is a double bed. See photo.

Our section has over 200 trees and shrubs with nice lawns. It is a half acre, or 0.2 hectors. There are always tasks to do depending on one's skills, gardening, weeding, cu... more inside

Nau mai, haere mai and welcome...

...to our busy family of 5 humans and Wellington city around us. And you might be the ONE helpxer who could join our brood! Our cultural roots span across Europe and we have travelled quite a bit.

We are a multilingual family; we play lots of music and appreciate a fun and simple lifestyle. We play cards, board games, and enjoy life together. We do a lot of homemade food and baking. Once you enter the door, our kids will see you as part of the family, so make sure you are up for this - come as a stranger but leave as a friend. You sure will learn lots of things about making fermented foods, bake European style bread (... and eat it:), and eat some healthy foods (some meats, veges, fruit, homecooked meals).

My husband is a born musician and will be happy for you to join him just like we all do - but that is your choice. Our oldest (14yr) loves hockey, strategic games and goofing around ... he hasn't caught the music bug yet; he's pretty swit... more inside

Hi! I am a local outdoor adventure teacher and circus performer.I live in a restored home and am now working on restoring the sheds and garden.

It is a quiet suburban home very close to shops and the train to the city. The home is open and light with wooden floors. I have two spare bedrooms with beds, WIFI and normal house services.

Our house is quiet and personal, hang out near the fire. We eat good food and enjoy sharing stories about travels.

As far as help, I have painting, gardening, decorating type tasks I am working on. If there is an aspect of this that is preferred, the help would be appreciated. We can arrange hours and provisions that can be made before arrival.

As an outdoor leader i would be hapy to help you set up for any journeys around the country.

Hi
I have a small cottage in Petone, old but comfortable. Petone is a pretty seaside town quite close to Wellington city that is known for its cafes. It also has a movie theatre, library, summer swimming pool and two supermarkets as well as many little shops. My house is quite close to the river and the beach. It is nice to walk along by the beach but mostly the water is too cold to swim in. I also live close to public transport - both train and bus. It takes 15 minutes by train to get to Wellington and 30 minutes by bus. During the day the buses and trains go every 30 minutes.
I am a vegetarian host. I like to read, listen to music, go for walks in the outdoors, go to concerts and movies and visit with friends. I don't have TV but I do have wi-fi.
I decided to join HelpX as I enjoy meeting people from other places and I would like some help with some house cleaning, looking after my small garden and sometimes looking after cats or kittens. There is a cat here and and often g... more inside

Hi,
We are a family of 4.
Kelly is a stay at home mum who also works part-time mostly from home.
Stu works in Wellington at NZRTA. He leaves early in the morning and gets back at about 5.30pm.
Ella is 8 and Hazel is 6. They have great imaginations and love to play together . They enjoy being read to, doing crafts, walks on the beach....
Harry is our enthusiastic small dog who to be honest needs to spend more time on the end of a lead. Lemon is our cat.
We live one street back from the beach and at the end of our road is the entrance to Queen Elizabeth Park (great for bike riding, running etc). We have a reasonable sized section and try to grow our own organic vegetables and have the odd fruit tree. Any help with this would be much appreciated!

We would love helpers from time to time to help with odd jobs both inside and outside of the house: gardening, painting, helping with housework (vacuuming, doing dishes). Would be great if you are able to cook and ab... more inside

Deb runs a global leadership program and teaches at university. Dai is a retired management professor, organisation development consultant, and was a trustee of the New Zealand Olympic Academy.

Our younger sons, Liam and Bryn, are graduates launched on more experiences overseas. Piers, the eldest son, Jaci and their two small girls (Alice and Nina) also live in the farm cottage. Our great mate Paul also lives on the farm and is the resident 'chef extraordinaire' for weekend taste delights.

We also have wonderful WWOOFERS come to stay and a very full set of information and video are available at http://www.wwoof.co.nz/profile/?mid=675

It has been a joy to meet so many impressive people and learn about their cultures. And we love laughter and sharing our kiwi culture with visitors.
