I have a small cottage in Petone, old but quite comfortable. Petone is a pretty seaside village quite close to Wellington city that is known for its cafes. It also has a small movie theatre, library, summer swimming pool and quite a few little specialty shops. It is close to the river too. I live 10 minutes walk from the beach. It is nice to walk along by the beach but mostly the water is too cold to swim in. I am close to public transport - five minutes to the train and 5 minutes to the local bus stop. It takes 15 minutes by train to get to Wellington and 30 minutes by bus. During the day the buses and trains go every 30 minutes. I am also quite close to the airport bus stop - 10 minutes walk. but it takes nearly one hour to get to the airport on the bus.
I like to read, listen to music, go for walks in the outdoors, go to concerts and movies and visit with friends. I don't have TV but I do have wi-fi.
I decided to join HelpX as I enjoy meeting people from other places and I h... more inside

We are a German-Kiwi family living in the fabulous suburb of Wilton in Wellington. We have three children, Teo (6), Amber (5) and Vinzent (1) who are all wonderful, curious and intelligent beings. Our house is situated a 10 minute car ride into Wellington central, yet peacefully at the top of a hill, with Te Ahumairangi Hill starting literally from our back yard and a view stretching out over the western hills in front of us.

We lead a healthy, non-smoking lifestyle with a semi-vegetarian (we basically don't cook meat) diet. In addition to raising the kids in a semi-traditional setting, we are also busy with gardening projects involving vege gardening, weeding, making a compost bin, looking after the chickens and general maintenance. We are also trying to transform the garden into an experience playground and are doing some minor house renovations and maintenance projects, outside and in.

We are looking for helpers with trade or handyperson experience. Although ideally garden... more inside

Tena koe i tenei ahiahi and welcome to our page.

WE ARE FULL WITH GUESTS UNTIL MID MAY.

Our family has a warm, happy, and easy to live in smoke-free home. We like watching movies, playing cards, board games and reading. Live a ten-minute walk from a fantastic bus service that goes all around Wellington, and within a fifteen minute walk have banks, supermarkets, swimming pool, parks and a library, and 200mtrs up the road is the ‘Skyline Walk’ that will give you some fantastic views of the city, a great walk, and an amazingly mountain bike ride if you want.

If you are only planning on being in Wellington a couple of days, that would be okay, and maybe ten days at the most … Elizabeth prefers people for shorter stays, but all things are negotiable and we are flexible people.

THE WORK FOR ACCOMMODATION EXCHANGE

We don't want to work anyone into the ground, if you are happy to do around 3 hours a day we would be very happy with that. The more physical the work the less ho... more inside

We have a vacancy starting 5 November

We are a middle aged, fit couple who enjoy meeting people from around the world. It would be a bonus to have assistance of 4 hours a day as we are often busy, and our lovely house and section has lots of challenges.

We live close to Wellington CBD, the Capital of New Zealand. There is good transport. We live 10 minutes by road to the Wellington railway station and the Cook Strait Ferry to/from the South Island (Interislander). [We will try and pick up helpers.] We live in the suburb of Johnsonville which is 20 minutes by rail (on a scenic line) to the city. Johnsonville has its own shopping centre. The Intercity buses have a stop at Johnsonville - (Naked Bus does not).

We are keen for a couple or two friends. There is a double bed. See photo.

Our section has over 200 trees and shrubs with nice lawns. It is a half acre, or 0.2 hectors. There are always tasks to do depending on one's skills, gardening, weeding, cutting hedges, ... more inside

We are a couple in our early 50's who are "empty nesters" - that is our children have all left home. We are both employed in Management Positions and have varied interests.

Our preference is to host couples or two people travelling together as friends. We do not host those travelling on their own as the assistance we often require will need two people.

Andrews passion is fishing and diving. We both enjoy meeting people from differing cultures and we would describe ourselves as easy going and relaxed.

Our property is located 2 minutes walk to Paraparaumu Beach where, in the warmer months, you can enjoy swimming, collecting pipi (shellfish) and fishing.

We are located just 10 minutes walk to the Beach Shops and also the Kapiti Boat Club where the trips to the well known Kapiti Island Nature Reserve leave from. There are also a number of great places to walk in the area. We have mountain bikes that you can use while staying here.

The train station is a short bus ride f... more inside

I am German and have lived in New Zealand for almost 20 years. My two children live here half the week (4yr and 16yr), which tends to be the more social half of the week (other half I work a lot). We have a Kiwi dog, 6 kiwi chickens and 2 Kiwi guinea pig.

Only five minutes drive from Hutt city, or 20 min to Wellington by train.

We live amidst a very beautiful native bush setting with a small stream running through the property, lots of Fantail, Kererus, Tui and other native birds. Enjoy unlimited access to the bush via walking tracks which go right to the top of the hills above Wainuiomata via fire breaks, or take a quick 20-minute loop walk to work up an appetite before dinner.

Right now I am looking for someone mainly for painting, gardening work and some cleaning. Anyone with woods skills would also be very handy. If you can handle a chainsaw let me know! You must be happy to work if it's raining as most work is outdoors.

The suggested arrangement is for you to... more inside

Deb runs a global leadership program and teaches at university. Dai is a retired management professor, organisation development consultant, and was a trustee of the New Zealand Olympic Academy.

Our younger sons, Liam and Bryn, are graduates launched on more experiences overseas. Piers, the eldest son, Jaci and their two small girls (Alice and Nina) also live in the farm cottage. Our great mate Paul also lives on the farm and is the resident 'chef extraordinaire' for weekend taste delights.

We also have wonderful WWOOFERS come to stay and a very full set of information and video are available at http://www.wwoof.co.nz/profile/?mid=675

It has been a joy to meet so many impressive people and learn about their cultures. And we love laughter and sharing our kiwi culture with visitors.

HELP REQUIRED

Hey HelpXers !! :)

We're looking for a motivated couple (we require 2 people) to help us in our private lodge. We're in an amazing location right by the sea, just 15-20 minutes to the city and we've got all you need in terms of facilities: kitchen, toilets, showers, lounge, bbq etc etc. There are plenty of walking and cycling tracks around the area, a very nice licensed cafe right next door, safe swimming/kayaking/SUPing in the harbour across the road... you can come and go as you please...

We ask that volunteers do a couple of hours per day - normally it's fine to choose when you work and you can also spread out or bunch up your hours

Tasks may include some of the following: a bit of cleaning, general tidying and may also have some carpentry/wood-working to do, as well as some painting and decorating. We also need someone to look after our vege garden so if you're 'green-fingered' you may be able to help us.

Ideally you'll be laid-back, easy going, h... more inside
