Hi
I have a small cottage in Petone, old but comfortable, with a tiny garden. Petone is a pretty seaside town quite close to Wellington city. It has lots of cafes, a movie theatre, library, and two supermarkets as well as many little shops. My house is quite close to the river and the sea, about 10 minutes walk. I also live close to public transport - both train and bus. It takes 15 minutes by train to get to Wellington and 30 minutes by bus. During the day the buses and trains go every 30 minutes.
I am vegetarian. I like to read, listen to music, go for walks in the outdoors, go to concerts and movies and visit with friends. I don't have TV but do have wi-fi.
I decided to join HelpX as I enjoy meeting people from other places and I would like some help with some house cleaning, looking after my little garden and sometimes looking after cats or kittens. There is a cat here and and often guest cats or kittens as I foster for a local shelter. It would also be nice to share som... more inside

We are a family of 3, offering you a furnished room plus study in the separate, ground floor flat of our Kilbirnie home. The second bedroom of the flat is operated as an Airbnb.
Darryl and Laurian are a professional couple and our delightful daughter has recently turned 5 and started school. We are a well-travelled, fun loving family who enjoy sharing our city with people from elsewhere.

I am German and have lived in New Zealand for almost 20 years. My two children live here half the week (4yr and 16yr), which tends to be the more social half of the week (other half I work a lot). We have a Kiwi dog, 6 kiwi chickens and 2 Kiwi guinea pig.

Only five minutes drive from Hutt city, or 20 min to Wellington by train.

We live amidst a very beautiful native bush setting with a small stream running through the property, lots of Fantail, Kererus, Tui and other native birds. Enjoy unlimited access to the bush via walking tracks which go right to the top of the hills above Wainuiomata via fire breaks, or take a quick 20-minute loop walk to work up an appetite before dinner.

Right now I am looking for someone mainly for painting, gardening work and some cleaning. Anyone with woods skills would also be very handy. If you can handle a chainsaw let me know! You must be happy to work if it's raining as most work is outdoors.

The suggested arrangement is for you to... more inside

Hello helpers out there,

We are a young Belgian family living on a lovely lifestyle block in rural Kaitoke. We have three children Lena (5.5yrs), Morris (3yrs) and Rosa (8 months). Our animal menagerie consists of sheep, chickens, two Belted Galloway steers and Muscat, our cat.

We are looking for a enthusiastic, reliable and proactive person to stay with us for about one week mainly to help with general household jobs like vacuuming, cleaning windows, babysitting, cooking, tidying etc. There may some other small jobs with the animals or in the garden as well.

Hi, we live in Wellington in two old, turn of the century, historic cottages (1860's) that are 200 paces above the street, private, set in the bush amongst the song of tui and kaka. It is an easy 20 minute walk into the central city.

Note: we are not a farm.

We are self-employed, busy and very hands on in all that we do. We are a couple with two adult daughters, one has recently returned home to live with us.
We provide all your food and accommodation, in exchange for about 8 hours help on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and 4 hours on Thursday. This gives you a 3 day weekend to explore and relax. (The hours can vary depending on whether we are in a middle of a job that must get finished - for example - building a roof before it rains). The accommodation is rough at the moment as we are in the middle of renovating these old cottages... if you don't expect a palace you will be fine.

We need your skills in one of these areas:
1. Building and restoring the three cottages. ... more inside
