Overlooks Medlands surf Beach.
Great beach for walking, fishing, thinking, swimming and surfing.
We supply the food and you cook for yourselves.
If you have any special food requirements you would have to bring them with you.
Would help if you could work independently and entertain yourself. We have lots of gardening to do.
We are looking for a couple of mature guys or a couple that don't mind hard work and have an understanding and love of gardening and we would also need some cleaning help.
You would do 5 hours a day and weekends off.
At the moment we are looking for someone who can do weedeating, strimming snd scrubcutting. We have a bank which needs a lot of tidying up.

We have a shop selling fishing and diving gear and outdoor supplies as well as coffee and food. We also operate a charter boat doing fishing and sightseeing. Need assistance in tidying up the property, and the boat, also can use suitable people in the shop and on the charter boat. Helping arrangements are flexible so that you can take advantage of the local surf beaches, walking tracks or pubs. We will endeavor to include you on fishing or sightseeing trips if you are interested. As a general guideline we will provide accommodation and food for 3 - 4 hours work per day but its OK to work full days and then to go off to explore the island for whole days if you wish.
We are close to local shops and services and the beach. We have a separate sleep out with a double bunk with basic cooking facilities for breakfasts but you would be welcome to dine with us evenings. Lunches tend to be casual affairs depending on the activities.

I have a small house where I live near the sea with my young boxer dog. There is loads of jobs needing doing both inside and out. Gardening, firewood, window cleaning, spouting cleaning. To name a few. You can google Medlands beach if you want an idea of the situation. I have a spare bedroom but otherwise it is shared close quarter living. The dog too! The beach is a 5 min walk away. The area is rural and backs on to natural bush...

WE have a small lifestyle block close to the beach at Tryphena on Great Barrier Island, with beautiful gardens. Need some help to keep them beautiful as we are both live busy lives and they are missing us. Lots of chooks and a large vege garden. There's a cottage near the house needing some painting too. Our house is 4 bedroom so plenty of room. Half day work for food and board.

Volunteering and Internships!

We have one vacancy for our Internship programme starting anytime between now and end November 2017 through to end January/February 2018:(12 weeks minimum stay)

I have called my beautiful beach-front property on this pristine Pacific surf beach my Paradise Island home for the last 29 yrs. I am now finally realizing my dream and have built a small private B&B home-stay healing retreat here. I have a large comfortable double guest room in the main house & 1 garden chalet and sleepout providing separate self-contained accommodation.I am currently developing organic vegetable and beach gardens & am requiring experienced &/or willing handymen/women, cleaners & gardeners for odd jobs, ongoing maintenance & general help on this stunning sun-filled property. Also I would really appreciate help with sorting out my business and marketing strategies on Fb and continue to develop my websites etc. so any creative design/photography/computer/techno skills are also very welcome (& if you can teach me how to do more of this myself SIMPLY that's even better!). Special diets catered for if necessary (gluten/dairy free etc).

Our Community was born in 1975 when a group of young friends including my father and uncle got together and bought this land to start a community of like minded people, in that first period they built the communal house we call the A-frame, established big gardens and had dreams of more communal space such as yoga studios and library but as the people had different ideas and focus in there lives they mostly left the Island.

My partner and I are now living on the land, with renewed energy to revive the community, and we invite you to be a part of that.

The things we are working on at the moment are establishing organic permiculture gardens, track work, mud brick composting toilet and stuff like that.

At this time we don't have much income so unfortunately we cant supply your food, although we can share meals together some times.
This offer is for accommodation only.
So because of this we only ask for two 6 hour days per week of work and the rest of the time you are free t... more inside

We do not currently have any availability until 2018 and are not taking any new bookings at this stage.

When we have availablity, we are looking for a helper to help us for two weeks or more. In between doing beautiful hikes, surfing our uncrowded waves or wandering along empty beaches, we would love your help with childcare, helping out around the house, gardening and possibly cutting paths in the bush at our new house.

We are a family who love the outdoors and our alternative lifestyle here on Great Barrier Island. We live in a house that is completely off the grid and runs on solar power. Our water comes directly from the sky or from the stream and we have a big vege patch. In our spare time we fish, dive, surf, hike or just enjoy wandering along the beach with our 2 year old son.

We've recently moved into this property and while we have been renovating for the last year (thanks to all the help from wonderful helpXers) there's still lots to be done. We would love your... more inside

I'm sorry we are booked out till the end of February 2018

Great Barrier Island is a remote, stunningly beautiful Island about 100 km's East of Auckland. Excellent tramping, beaches, surfing, fishing and kayaking

We (husband and wife) live in a large architecturally designed house on 4 hectares of land overlooking Tryphena Harbour
We have a large garden - both ornamental and vegetables from which we eat. While not totally organic we try to use organic techniques to grow our food
We have a small boat and always need encouragement to take time off and go fishing.
We always have masses of projects going on, as we attempt to be as self sufficient as possible - without losing out on the luxuries of life. Our projects projects include gardening, building, websites and making papercrete building blocks etc etc
Great Barrier Island has no reticulated power or water. So we have 8 solar panels, which provide most of our power. Our water is from a spring (imagine water that has been... more inside
