We live ten minutes out of Cheviot and about ten minutes drive from the coast (Gore Bay, a great surfing spot). We've got 2 lovely house dogs, 2 horses, 2 donkeys, 4 kunekune pigs, a pet sheep with a lamb and 4 cats.

We would prefer a couple or two friends.

There's a lot of work to do in the gardens at the moment, including hedge trimming, and preparing the garden for winter, although those weeds keep growing with the nice weather we are having at the moment.

Im also going to be away a bit over the next few days (Jane) so if you could cook and keep the place running during those times, that would be useful. Bryan doesnt cook...

Bryan runs Harris Meats, which is located on next door. If you don't eat/like meat, then you may not like our place. If you do, then you will be amazed at how good the meat here is, and you will know exactly where it came from!

There's lots of sporting activities around here, Bryan cycles and watches a lot of rugby. There's some... more inside

We run an "Alternative Lifestyle" Bed & Breakfast and adult event venue, in rural North Canterbury. We have large gardens (fruit, berries, vegetables and leisure) and extensive tree hedges that take more time than we ourselves have for upkeep, so we're looking particularly for help with the outdoors. We use our gardens to feed guests the freshest possible food.

Our place is unusual, not for the prudish, but we do have a lot of fun!

We'd recommend you take a look at our website before you contact us, so you get a better idea of what we are about.

We'd recommend anyone who comes to help out has their own transport, as the nearest public transport is 13kms away, in Rangiora, or a weekday only twice daily commuter shuttle to Christchurch that runs early morning and late afternoons.

WHO WE ARE:

Ellis and Sanna are a fun, loving, easygoing couple. We believe in living life to the fullest and love to meet new people from different countries and experience their culture. Between us we have travelled extensively and know what it is like to be in a new country far away from home.

Sanna and Michelle (our daughter 21) are from Finland, Ellis from New Zealand. We have 2 cats; Simba & Ziggy & Sasha the dog.

Over the past 10 years we have built our own magnificent home, situated on top of a small hill overlooking the distant Inland Kaikoura Mountains. Our house is a 3 story, rustic dwelling with loads of character and Kiwi ingenuity. We have two massive trees up through the center of the house. The back bone structure is made up of huge hand milled beams with a natural timber ceiling. We also have built the biggest rock fire place you probably will see in NZ.

We are both into health and fitness. Sanna is a personal trainer.

We have our own gym/studio ... more inside

This Iconic Hotel is situated in The Southern Alps on the Great Alpine Highway (SH73) halfway between the east & west coasts of New Zealand's South Island.

We are 90 minutes from both Christchurch (East Coast) & Greymouth (West Coast).

The hotel is set on a hill surrounded by spectacular views of mountains, river & valley.
Our Motels & Lodge are below on the banks of the Waimakariri River.

We are offering accommodation & meals for a fit, energetic person keen to mow lawns and trim some shubbery . . .

We are interested in hosting helpers wanting to stay long term (4 weeks+ would be great)

Having a vehicle would be an advantage for exploring & enjoying this awesome region.
Of course it is by no means essential.
It is easy to get here from either coast by either west coast shuttles or atomic shuttles.
(just google for their timetables & contact details)

Nestled in the beautiful Southern Alps is the historic settlement of Cass (approx half way between Christchurch and Greymouth). I am offering private accommodation (separate from the house with own bathroom)in exchange for odd jobs - painting, gardening and lawn mowing.
I also have a horse drawn wagon seen in the photo's which is needing a keen horseperson to drive and keep working.
There is plenty to do in the area including fishing on many of the nearby high country lakes (1.6 km to Lake Sarah) day walks/ tramping in Arthurs Pass National Park and Craigieburn forest Park, skiing on one of the 5 local ski fields, four wheel driving, Scree jumping (down Sugar Loaf). A short drive to Cave stream scenic reserve (one of the south Islands best free activities) and Castle Hill natural rock climbing park (where scenes from Lord of the Rings and Narnia were filmed). Other nearby facilities are The Bealy Hotel (10mins) and Arthurs Pass 20mins. In exchange I would like four hours work... more inside

We would love to have helpers from May onwards :-)
We are so lucky to live on a 10 acre life style block situated in North Canterbury . We have horses which are used primarily for dressage, show jumping and eventing. We also have a lovely property with a large easy care garden!
It would be great to have some help in the garden, general weeding and spraying, but mainly we need help exercising and caring for the horses. So we would love to hear from helpers that are really experienced horse people! Especially those that have riding experience in dressage, show jumping and or eventing!!
Our horses are competition horses and young horses, so this means that they are not "school horses" so we CAN NOT have helpers that are beginner riders or inexperienced riders!!
We are looking for help from May onwards!!
We have 4 children, 2 are school age and 2 are finished with school and are studying away from home!
We are non smokers!! And would prefer helpers that are non smokers :-)

We are a Christian family with 5 children ranging in age from 3 to 15. We also have a friendly Labrador and a kitten. We came to New Zealand from South Africa almost 9 years ago with our first 2 children. Our second child is an African who we adopted when she was 4 weeks old. We live in Hawarden which is about an hour from Christchurch and about an hour from Hanmer Springs.

Work would include general house work and gardening.

If you are interested in doing a lot of travelling you will need to have your own vehicle as there is no public transport close to us. We are about 20 minutes from State Highway 1.

You are welcome to travel with us to our families activities (church, ballet, jazz, St John and Girl Guides). My 3 year old has epilepsy and autism so we travel into Christchurch once a week to see her therapists. You are welcome to join us for that morning in town too.

Our family is on a FAILSAFE diet (Free of Additives and Low in Salicylates, Amines and Flavour Enhancer... more inside

Hello, we have a 'boutique' dairy farm on the edge of Oxford, North Canterbury, where we sell fresh, real milk through our Village Milk vending machine. We milk around 20 cows year round and this has been a very popular addition to our farm. Our eldest daughter has enjoyed doing Help Exchanges overseas so we would love to give someone the same opportunity!

We have a few jobs on at the moment that we would like some help with including altering a shed, and clearing yard areas, burning fire heaps. We also have ongoing jobs such as feeding out, weed spraying, gardening, painting, tidying and household chores so depending on the day there will be some variety.

We would like one person aged 20 and over who has reasonable English and has had a little bit of experience on a farm already so they are ready to jump in to help with anything. Hours/days of work are flexible but we would expect around 4-5 hours a day, depending on the jobs and weather. Maximum 7 day stay.

You will have y... more inside
