Nestled in the beautiful Southern Alps is the historic settlement of Cass (approx half way between Christchurch and Greymouth). I am offering private accommodation (separate from the house with own bathroom)in exchange for odd jobs - painting, gardening and lawn mowing.
I also have a horse drawn wagon seen in the photo's which is needing a keen horseperson to drive and keep working.
There is plenty to do in the area including fishing on many of the nearby high country lakes (1.6 km to Lake Sarah) day walks/ tramping in Arthurs Pass National Park and Craigieburn forest Park, skiing on one of the 5 local ski fields, four wheel driving, Scree jumping (down Sugar Loaf). A short drive to Cave stream scenic reserve (one of the south Islands best free activities) and Castle Hill natural rock climbing park (where scenes from Lord of the Rings and Narnia were filmed). Other nearby facilities are The Bealy Hotel (10mins) and Arthurs Pass 20mins. In exchange I would like four hours work... more inside

We are looking for international travellers who would like to experience a special part of the South Island. This is a sheep and beef property in the Canterbury Highcountry, 50km inland near the township of Methven. Beside farming we are operating a small conference and accommodation venue and in the winter this place is the base for a heliski operation. We enjoy having travellers and welcome always a helping hand. A modern self contained unit with all facilities and all meals of the day will be provided as an exchange. It would suit an outdoor person who enjoys walking, mountain biking. Pick up from Methven (1 hour drive) or Christchurch (2 hours) is possible.Beside English our household is able to communicate in German and "Schoolfrench". Have a look on our website.

My Husband is a shift worker and I work from home so it is always very busy, so one of our main criteria is that you have great initiative and will be able to complete the required hours from a list, after being shown what to do if necessary. We are looking for a helper to do mainly housework, cooking and childcare but there are also never ending general chores around our property including lawn mowing, painting and gardening (the work is not hard just things we run out of time for). This is a small dairy farm with a herd of lovely pedigree Jersey cows. Come and learn about all of the activities associated with dairying in a warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere (no stress here). Jobs are varied - from painting fences to feeding calves, from gathering firewood to helping in the milking shed. There are activities to suit all types of skills and physical abilities. The farm is a day trip away from the ski fields and 40 minutes from the centre of Christchurch. You will need to have your own transport to get here (and having a pair of gumboots would be good as the dairy shed can be very wet). I would like you to stay for six days please. Day 1 - arrive after lunch (afternoon tea/dinner). Day 2 - work 9am to 5pm (breakfast/morning tea/lunch/afternoon tea/dinner). Day 3 - free day to go sightseeing (breakfast/packed lunch/arrive home in time for dinner). Day 4 - same as day 2. Day 5 - same as day 3. Day 6 - same as day 2. Next day - leave after lunch (breakfast/mo... more inside

We have helpers from February but would love to have more from March onwards :-)
We are so lucky to live on a 10 acre life style block situated in North Canterbury . We have horses which are used primarily for dressage, show jumping and eventing. We also have a lovely property with a large easy care garden!
It would be great to have some help in the garden, general weeding and spraying, but mainly we need help exercising and caring for the horses. So we would love to hear from helpers that are really experienced horse people! Especially those that have riding experience in dressage, show jumping and or eventing!!
Our horses are competition horses and young horses, so this means that they are not "school horses" so we CAN NOT have helpers that are beginner riders or inexperienced riders!!
We are looking for help from March onwards!!
We have 4 children, 2 are school age and 2 are finished with school and are studying away from home!
We are non smokers!! And would prefer helpers... more inside
