Our farm is also a horse riding centre. It has many horses, cattle and a few sheep. The business focuses on horse trekking and riding instruction to all ages. Young horses are bred and prepared for hunting and competition.

The farm is located 50 minutes from Christchurch and 40 minutes from Hanmer Springs. It is located on the main road, right beside Waikari village.

The helper must be a competent horse person with at least a few years riding experience. General help around the property, stables, household and garden will be required. Good communication skills with the customers would be a plus. There is your own warm bedroom with television and its own bathroom attached. Preferably a friendly outgoing personality.

This is a small dairy farm with a herd of lovely pedigree Jersey cows. Come and learn about all of the activities associated with dairying in a warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere (no stress here). Jobs are varied - from painting fences to feeding calves, from gathering firewood to helping in the milking shed. There are activities to suit all types of skills and physical abilities but you must be prepared to get grubby and to get up close to the farm animals. The farm is a day trip away from the ski fields and 40 minutes from the centre of Christchurch. You will need to have your own transport to get here (and having a pair of gumboots would be good as the dairy shed can be very wet). I would like you to stay for six days please. Day 1 Friday - arrive after 3pm (dinner). Day 2 Saturday - work 9am to 5pm (breakfast/morning tea/lunch/afternoon tea/dinner). Day 3 Sunday - free day to go sightseeing (breakfast/packed lunch/arrive home in time for dinner). Day 4 Monday - same as da... more inside

Great food and friendly hosts in the heart of the Southern Alps. In fact we are even on the Te Araroa Trail yet are less than 2 hours from Christchurch, Greymouth or Hokitika.

Geoff and Renee welcome you to share their home in the village of Arthur's Pass surrounded by the forest and peaks of Arthur's Pass National Park. Arthur's Pass is a good location for walking, mountaineering, skiing, snowboarding and enjoying nature. Our homestay website is shown above.

Amongst other things, we bake our own bread, chocolate puddings and make our own pizza.

We are doing a spring clean and sorting out the garden so if you feeling like giving us a hand we would love to hear from you.

There will be plenty of time for walks and adventures in Arthur's Pass National Park.

Geoff is an environmental campaigner currently works as a strategic advisor to Forest & Bird (a New Zeaand NGO) and has also been involved in Search and Rescue. Renee works locally and has a background in the Union... more inside
