Lonely Planet Review.
Unleash your creative spirit at this funky and colourful hostel in a restored two-storey Victorian residence. Guests are encouraged to draw and paint, or create sweet soul music on the hostel's guitars, pianos, didgeridoo and African drums. With all that creative energy, there's definitely a laidback social vibe, and Chillawhile is one of NZ's best and most unique hostels.

We are full until the end of June now so thanks for your interest! After June we would love to hear from anyone with some painting, building or carpentry skills, or who is keen to help with children, animals and gardening! Cheers!!
We live on a working high country station in the Cardrona Valley between Wanaka and Queenstown NZ. The farm is run and owned by our amazing neighbours and we are renovating and living in the converted Shearers Quarters. We have a really small orchard and several outbuildings of historically significant value which we are hoping to restore. We also want to replenish the orchard and gardens and continue to upkeep the grounds and the house. There is plenty to do! We also have four children aged 14 to 6, three boys and a girl, no TV, love reading and music and travel quite a bit! I am a writer of children's fiction and a travel writer and Gray is in the commercialisation of science industry. We both love to meet people from all over the world and are loo...

I am looking for someone to help me by being with my 3 children before and after school until I get home from work Monday to Thursday and every second Sunday. Also the odd meal and bedtime routine and the odd night babysitting. Hours may change so we will need to have a reciprical relationship. Above all you need to enjoy being with little people. My children also understand Italian and love riding their bikes and getting out and about, wet and muddy etc. I can offer you a small bedroom with bunks seperate from the house which will give you more peace and quiet! All other facilities are shared. You will need to sort your own food. All three children are at school between 9 and 3. There will be a car for your use for school dropoffs and pickups and to come and go from Wanaka to have your freedom :-) You will usually need to drop the children to school, pick them up after school and stay with them until I am able to get home from work. I am looking forward to having you as a ...

Hi everyone - just wanted to say thanks to all the lovely helpers who have done so much work here over the past few months - and to say that we won't be needing anyone until September now. We have 1 acre of steep land that we are developing into a permaculture garden and orchard. We are getting there but could do with a bit of help from strong fit people whose knees can handle walking up and down a steep garden. We also have work repairing and painting garden furniture and deck etc.
We have no car but there is a bike available for helpers and there are lots of great walks around the area. There are plenty of places to explore in gorgeous Dunedin and its environs. St. Clair is a beautiful surf beach - there are always surfers in the sea from dawn till dusk - all weathers and seasons. Just walking on the beach is wonderfully relaxing. Also within easy walking distance is wonderful Tunnel Beach. The city is a 10 minute bus ride away.
We don't have internet available for ...

Currently no help required until. end of June. Helpers with car only! Please read on for type of accommodation we provide and help we need. We are a family of 6 including 4 children. We have a property of 1 acre in Hawea Flat, 15kms out of Wanaka where we grow organic vegetables and are in the process of building a straw bale house. A shed including a warm, comfortable sleepout room with kitchenette is now finshed and serves as the helpx accommodation; there is a long drop toilet. We provide food for the sleepout, some already cooked. We are renting a house in Wanaka for the family where you can come for a shower. We like outdoor activities: tramping, cycling, swimming, camping, skiing. We ask for 4 hours of help per day, times vary and can be blocked together when needed: in the vegie garden, general weeding, helping in the house and with the children, lawn mowing, building our new house. Wanaka is a centre for outdoor and adventure activities and has spectacular landscape rig...

No exchanges available at the moment thanks.
We are a couple living on our own property looking for some help around the place with cooking, gardening and work around the house in return for accommodation. Would welcome an exchange with helpers who could teach guitar! We ask for 2 hours work per person per day for accommodation. 4 hours per person per day if we provide food as well.

We are looking for someone to be an extra pair of hands around the house including childcare (two pre-school girls), meal preparation, light housework, errands, helping with vege garden, etc. During the month of January, we also need help with our small pesticide free apricot orchard. We operate a wholesale plant nursery on 4 hectares of land and manage a landscape company alongside this so a love of the outdoors and plants would be an advantage.
We are able to provide food and accommodation in return for around 4-5 hours help per day. Accommodation is by way of a caravan at our home (far more peaceful than living in!). Plenty of opportunity to be involved in family activities such as water skiing, boating, camping and mountain biking.
So if you enjoy children, have plenty of initiative with a great work ethic and like a busy, vibrant atmosphere then we'd love to hear from you!

** Hi everyone, we have no work until Spring. Email us again in September. Happy travels**
Who we are: A blended family of two adults and 3 boys 9 - 13. There is always lots going on.
