Allens Rivulet Farm is now closed for helpers for the winter - it's been a busy summer on our mostly organic/biodynamic old mixed farm with so many great helpers coming to stay. We've had a ball. Our farm is located in the idyllic Allens Rivulet region just south of Hobart - with loads of great HelpX workers helping out and partying in our old Appleshed at night. The farm is located 30 km's southwest of Hobart and is easily accessible via the Huon Highway (we can pick you up from the bus stop along the highway). At the moment the summer jobs are complete, but we now need to do some fencing plus we have some small renovations on old sheds on the go. We also have horses (mine and others) and lots of baby chickens to look after. There is plenty of work to do to keep the farm running. Summertime help is bringing in the hay and weeding, for the rest of the year it is random jobs to suit your skill base. You will stay in a small self contained cottage. After hard days of work we have plen... more inside

Overlooking Sullivanís Cove and Hobartís city centre stands Corinda, a stately Victorian mansion.

Corindaís historic outbuildings, the gardenerís cottage, the servantsí quarters and the coach-house are now delightful self contained cottages.

Awaken to the sound of birdsong, then take a stroll across the cobbled courtyard into the extensive gardens, just a short walk from the Hobart CBD.

We are currently working inside the main house and need helpers for all sorts of things - cleaning, helping in the garden, moving furniture, helping us keep an eye on our little boy.

Give us a call if you are interested - we need a couple of people from the 27th of December.

Large, sunny two storey family home by the sea, located in a quiet, rural area. South Arm is surrounded by sea, with bays, sandy beaches and rock platforms. The area is exceptionally beautiful. We are 35 minutes' drive from central Hobart with a limited bus service into Hobart. There are many beautiful walks, bike paths, and a nearby shop / post office, cafe, gym, hairdresser, community pharmacy, fitness circuit and a hilltop labyrinth.
The house has a small garden and the family pet is a gentle, old dog called Benny. We are a working / retired couple with grown up children at University.
The main help we need is taking Benny for some little walks when we are both out, and letting him spend time in the house during the winter, but making sure he has regular visits outside, too. We can't leave him indoors all day when we are out, but we don't want him to be outdoors all day during the winter.
There could also be some jobs around the house and garden, but the main priority is a l... more inside

Come join my journey of moving my business Horse Riding Tasmania from 1 off the grid location to another. Living in the bush with the wildlife.

What you can learn from me includes, growing a garden in extreme circumstances ie lack of water and soil. Living with a very small amount of power, not relying on public transport, self sufficiency, doing your bit for closing the loop and how to dance with the universe if you have not as yet gained that skill.

In terms of animals, we have a herd of 17 horses , a cat "Puss in Boots" and 1 dog "Meeka"

Looking forward to making new friends and memories.

Inter-city homestay with friendly family who require help with young children, light domestics and over-enthusiastic garden.

Our family:
We are a busy urban family of 5:
MI (dad and general keeper of sanity) works full time from home in IT,
MA (mum and general creator of fun) works part time in HR,
GA (13 year old girl) is an avid coder and football player,
EL (3 year old girl) has an exuberant sense of creativity
RJ (almost 1 year old boy) is sweet as apple pie

Our house:
We live in a big old house (with a new kitchen/living) a short walk from the center of Hobart and with easy access to bush and bus for exploring this fabulous city. We eat extremely well (MA used to be a chef) mostly from locally grown produce, and top end meat and dairy. We are fairly active in our local community and try and get out most weekends - where appropriate you will be welcome to join us and our friends in these experiences. We are hoping to re-start our vegetable growing this spring. We ... more inside

We have a small chemical free farm raising fruit, vegetables, grapes, berries, chickens, ducks and miniature pigs.
Work is varied depending upon the season- this includes weeding, planting, garden maintenance, looking after the animals and helping around the house, cleaning and occasional cooking.

Helpers work about 4 hours per day for free accomodation, all meals and a drink after work.

Helpers have seperate accomodation behind the main house with shared bathroom facilities.
We have a hydrotherapy spa to relax in after work and enjoy the millions of stars in the sky at night.

Friday nights we make Pizzas, often in our own wood fired cob oven.

We smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol- often at the same time :) so if this offends you we are probably not the right venue for your stay.

We eat a mixed diet and have a small kitchen area so sadly are unable to help with strict vegitarian or vegan helpers.

We take our helpers out 1 day per week to show them the beautiful sight... more inside
