- We have a small vineyard one hour South of Hobart in the small but beautiful town of Dover. Dover has everything one needs: twice daily buses to Hobart, supermarket, cafe, pharmacy, bank, bottle shop, police, doctor's surgery, high school to 10 years etc. The beach is 20 minutes walk through town, the mountain is behind us. Our property has the vineyard, natural forest, pastures, vegie garden, lakes and creeks. Our wild life and the birds come visiting right to the front door :-)
- You will need your own internet on a USB dongle (Telstra and Optus works here) if you would like to use it more then Skype-ing home, looking up your Facebook or sending the occasional email because we are limited in our data usage.
- We are flexible with work hours but farm work has to be done when needed, so some days we work all day, some days we just clean the house, cook/bake or do something in the cellar.
- We prefer people with practical ability who can work independently. Those of you who ca... more inside

NON SMOKERS ONLY! I (Yvonne) live in Launceston, Tasmania. No vacancies at the moment, but later in the year I may be able to offer placements of about a week or so at a time; please inquire about available dates. Helpers assist me with gardening, weeding, feeding the chooks, food preparation, cooking, cleaning, tidying and housework. Work hours depend on what I need you to do, so you must be flexible, but you will work an average of five hours a day. I can collect/deliver you to/from anywhere in Launceston, the local bus depot or Launceston airport. You will be rewarded with good food, a comfy bed and a friendly household. As well as English, one household member speaks Mandarin Chinese. Helpers MUST be NON SMOKERS. Due to allergies and my work with food I WON'T accept any helpers who smoke! No drugs or excessive alcohol consumption allowed. This is NOT the place for the 'party crowd', pampered Princesses' or lazy layabouts! We have a busy, somewhat chaotic, lifestyle. My interests... more inside

*** We have vacancy from 10 September ***
Historic farm homestead, circa 1840 built by convicts, currently a working beef property situated 48 km east of Hobart. In days gone by this residence was maintained by maids, servants and convicts. I live on .6 hectare in the small country town of Sheffield (pop 1000), on the island State of Tasmania, just south of mainland Australia. Sheffield has rich volcanic soil, with an excellent rainfall that grows all cool climate plants. Although the property was quite bare when I moved here about 14 years ago, I planted many fruit trees, ornamental trees and native trees. The property is entirely organic and I have a healthy vegetable patch. I have 2 dogs, a cat, 2 alpacas and free range geese and chickens. I also have a piano for you to play. Meals are vegetarian and accommodation is inside my home. No smoking on the property.

We (James - renewable energy engineer, Clare - jeweller and botanist and Mitzi (canine) - professional steak eater and wallaby chaser), have just bought 10 acres in Lenah Valley - which is 5km from the CBD of Hobart. Though it's very close to all amenities, it feels like our country house - completely away from the world! There's a donkey next door (Frank), who entertains us with his crazy noises, and wildlife galore!! You will have close encounters with pademelons, wallabies, possums and native hens!!!

Our aim in the near-term is to get the house up to scratch by October, when we're expecting our first child (Yikes, it's creeping up quickly!). Then projects will move outside where we plan to build an orchard, greenhouse, garden beds and run some sheep (if the land will accommodate this - it may need some TLC first!). We have a sustainable lifestyle in mind, and most of our projects involve recycling timbers, using our beautiful native Tasmanian timbers, organic gardening/permacu... more inside
