We have a vacancy from 1st October 2014.

We operate a commercial cut-flower farm in Gardners Bay, 6km south of the Cygnet township. We are able to offer a recently renovated, self-contained cabin (separate from the main house)for your accommodation in return for two hours work per person per day. The catch is that we would require you to do your own cooking.

Tasks around the farm include weeding, pruning, flower picking, mowing, whipper-snippering, painting, other maintenance, etc., etc..Having your own transport would be advantageous, however, we do travel to Hobart every day, where we have a florist shop, and there are twice-daily buses to and from Cygnet to Hobart. As a commercial farm we are able to sign for work done towards the second year visa application.

Our preference would be for non-smokers.

We have a large organic vegetable garden that we hope to grow most of our vegetables in and a large house block with many flowers, bushes (and weeds). We are a couple in our 60's who both work from home (a potter/pottery teacher and a furniture restorer/environmental consultant). Helpers may get to help at Salamanca Market and in the pottery studio as well as in the garden.
We have a large old house, 2 kms from Hobart city, with a bus stop outside the door. We are a 20 minute drive from the airport, and close to shops.
We have a friendly 13 year old poodle who loves to take us for a walk on the beach.
After a fruitful Summer there is lots to do in the garden, including the never-ending task of weeding.
We prefer helpers who have had help-x experience, and who don't mind a bit of mess within wonderful surroundings.
Recently we have acquired a large quantity of bricks and are about to embark on some paving.
(No smoking, nuts or perfumes please!!)

Hello Helpxers!

My name is Diane and I have a waterfront property 20 minutes south of Hobart. It's beautiful and rural and a great place to live. There's some small chores around the yard that need to be done like weeding but I mostly could use a hand with my upcoming Halloween Party on the 1st of November 2014. It's my 14th annual party and going to be a great night with live music, lots of dancing, food and great folks. I'd like to find a Help Xer for the week before the party to help with preparations and then on the day of the party, to help decorate and then undecorate the next day. It's going to be a lot of fun and very casual.

I'll feed you lots of good healthy food and ask that you help out 4 hours a day.

For your accommodation, you'll have a cozy and clean caravan that overlooks the beach. There's an outdoor spa too and lots of great things about this area. You'll be welcome to borrow my mountain bike and kayak too! There is also Internet access.

Our 35 acre property, is nestled amongst the farming community of Stowport, Northwest Coast of Tasmania. We have 10 acres of beautiful rhododendrons, camelias, azaleas and a large variety of exotic conifers. The other 25 acres is natural rainforest bush with a dam. We have 11 Indian runner ducks and 4 geese on the dam. We have a resident platypus, wallabies, Tasmanian Devils, possums and bandicoots. Our platypus has not been seen for some time. The Tasmanian Devils are not seen as they are very shy animals, but we know they are around. If weather permits we like to take helpers on a night walk by torch light around the property when wallabies, possums and occasionally bandicoots can be seen.

Work will include, weeding, pruning, planting, raking and assisting with wood splitting (more wood stacking than splitting). There would also be some physical work assisting Wayne around the property. Hours of work would be approximately 5-6 hours per day with a total of 30 hours per week.

Hello,

I am working full time on establishing an eco-lifestyle for myself and my 18 horses.

I aspire to being positive and spiritual. I manage a small herd of horses on a 600 acres off the grid property where I run a trail riding business, give horsemanship education and riding lessons.
All my spare time goes into writing my holistic horse solutions course (www.holistichorsesolutions.com).

To happily share my lifestyle, you should be interested in some of the followings:
- trail ride guiding
- research and writing
- ecotourism
- sustainable off the grid living
- physical odd jobs
- thinking out of the box and improving my green household
- renovating/building

The ideal helper would have one or more of the following profiles:
- an experienced horse rider (instructor level or guiding level)
- experience or an interest in research (minimum 2 months stay and you would get access to the course for free)
- a very outdoor, physical worker capable of doing some... more inside

We live on a life style property in the North West corner of Tasmania. Half the property is a beautiful ornamental garden and the rest is given over to fruit trees, vegetables, berries, bees and chickens. We are passionate about growing organic vegetables and berries and as a rule we pick our veggies in the late afternoon for that evening's meal so what you are eating is as fresh as is possible. You will immediately taste the difference between our veggies and those that are store bought. Our honey is organically harvested and not heated.
In Jan/Feb we take our hives to the Tarkine forests to feed on the leatherwoods which give us the uniquely Tasmanian leatherwood honey. If you are interested in these aspects of sustainable living, we are the hosts for you. If you do not wish to be involved with the bees, that is not a problem as there is enough to do working with the veggies so nobody will be bored. We bottle, freeze, dry and do as much as we can to preserve our produce for the w... more inside
