Our property is on the edge of the village of Cygnet. It is a walk of about ten minutes into the centre from our property. There are two buses daily that go into Hobart from Cygnet. Cygnet is a lovely village with some interesting shops including a number of cafés, a great bakery and two pubs. It is quite an arty little place with a great little market every other Sunday. Laurie works in Hobart during the week as a computer professional but I am retired from teaching. We have recently done extensive renovations to the house and it is now very comfortable. The Helpx accommodation consists of a little self contained apartment with ensuite and kitchenette. Our little farm is very beautiful but needs lots of work in the garden particularly and around the property generally. We are learning about permaculture and are hoping to try and introduce some permaculture principles into our property There are horses, donkeys, chickens, three sheep and we have two lovely, friendly dogs called ... more inside

We have a small chemical free farm raising fruit, vegetables, grapes, berries, chickens, ducks and miniature pigs.
Work is varied depending upon the season- this includes weeding, planting, garden maintenance, looking after the animals and helping around the house, cleaning and occasional cooking.

Helpers work about 4 hours per day for free accomodation, all meals and a drink after work.

Helpers have seperate accomodation behind the main house with shared bathroom facilities.
We have a hydrotherapy spa to relax in after work and enjoy the millions of stars in the sky at night.

Friday nights we make Pizzas, often in our own wood fired cob oven.

We smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol- often at the same time :) so if this offends you we are probably not the right venue for your stay.

We eat a mixed diet and have a small kitchen area so sadly are unable to help with strict vegitarian or vegan helpers.

We take our helpers out 1 day per week to show them the beautiful sight... more inside

HI HELPERS! WELCOME TO JOHN'S CRAZY FUN FACTORY!!!
I live in a beautiful isolated Tasmanian mountain valley surrounded by world heritage rain forest and some VERRY TALL Trees!(but not as big as the Hinoki trees at A-Li-Shan in Taiwan!!!)
Most of my property is a nature reserve, but I have a 2 Hectare orchard, berry garden and vegetable garden. The possums, wallabies and birds eat most of these (trees included!) so we live on ice cream and chocolate biscuits instead! Please come and help us eat the biscuits so I don't get too fat!
I have been a host with WWOOF (Willing Workers On Organic Farms) for 12 years and I have had more than 700 fabulous, lovely, wonderful woofer volunteers stay with me. Many of them have come back for second, third…or even 10th visits!!!!!
Work involves gardening, fruit picking, pruning, tree planting, reading Tolstoy's WAR AND PEACE to the chickens, weeding the nature reserves, firewood collecting wood splitting and some construction eg Bridge!!. I show... more inside

If you want to learn some simple building skills ,I'll try to show you a few things that I know. Any help is welcome. There is a variety of other general farm work to do as well. And it's not all work ,work ,work, there's plenty of playtime and fun to have as well. We all need to relax and enjoy ourselves .

Help with sustainable building in Brooks Bay, Tasmania, Australia
Build is 23 Sep - 7 Oct 2017 and Jan 2018.
We are school teachers who are experienced language teachers and love to help travellers. Our build is most unusual, being a hemp masonry structure with other recycled materials. It is situated in a most beautiful scenic location with a forest to the back and a large river to the front. It is in an area famous for tourism and is located 80kms south of Hobart, in Tasmania (Australia)

Help
Volunteers to be part of a team to build form work on an existing timber house structure. Then to fill the formwork with hempcrete mix. We will assist with training and be working alongside you. This hempcrete is part of sustainable building practices and consists of hemp herd and lime binder mix.

Accommodation

We are near Hobart..we may not have the warm weather of Darwin, Cairns and Perth at the moment but there is loads to see and do in Tasmania..great culture and beautiful natural sites!Hello Helpers! We now have a gorgeous foal born on 4th August Evangeline....and more to come! x We have phenomenal views of the mountains and Dentrecasteaux Channel , and we have a large private double bedroom with en suite bathroom and wifi available for our helpers.
We are a married couple in our early 40's, both with busy professional jobs, we have four children, dogs , cats and lots of horses! We love hosting folks from different countries and learning about different places. Our kids love it too, it's been a great experience so far. We run a Gypsy Cob stud so equestrian experience would be helpful but not necessary and working with the horses is optional..Other work offered would range from gardening, cleaning, fencing, grooming horses, dog walking, wood cutting, tractor work, possibly helping t... more inside

We are currently searching for a night manager for The Nook Backpackers. We are a non party hostel so this just entails ensuring people are quiet after 11pm. In exchange for this you will receive your own private room with your own bathroom. Perfect for someone looking for day work or already working during the day and looking to save on accommodation

Farming, fishing on the seafront in beautiful Tasmania.
Our farm uses polyculture, permaculture, organic and wholistic farming principles, our aim is to ever increase our ability to work with nature for the benefit of the land, animals and people. This is a working progress.

The location is amazing beautiful sea views, great beaches, excellent national parks with fantastic walks.

We farm free range pigs and chickens, plus we like fishing, so seafood will be on menu. We have a couple of organic vegetable gardens, so plenty of fresh food..

I look forward to hearing from you :)
