This property is 10km from Cygnet. It is great for quiet walks along the coast/unsealed road with interesting fossils, geology, birds and using a spotlight torch at night shows up many animals.

Our property is on the edge of the village of Cygnet. It is a walk of about ten minutes into the centrefrom our property. There are two buses daily that go into Hobart from Cygnet. Cygnet is a lovely village with some interesting shops including a couple of cafés. It's quite an arty little place with a great little market every other Sunday. Laurie works in Hobart during the week as a computer professional but I am retired from teaching. Our little farm is very beautiful but needs lots of work in the garden particularly and around the property generally. There are some horses in some of our paddocks and we will soon have some alpacas arriving to live with us. At the moment we have two dearly loved old dogs. We have three grown up children who all live in Hobart but who come down to visit us. Andrew(28), Thom (26) and Molly (22).
We are vegetarians and non smokers. We have had a number of HelpXers come and stay with us and we loved having them as part of our family. We prefer to ... more inside

NON SMOKERS ONLY! Vacancy available from 9th April to at least 19th April. On some of these days we will primarily be concentrating on food preparation and service. I (Yvonne) live in Launceston, Tasmania. Helpers usually assist with gardening, weeding, food preparation, cooking, cleaning, tidying and housework. Work hours depend on what I need you to do, so you must be flexible, but you will work an average of five hours a day. I can collect/deliver you to/from anywhere in Launceston, the local bus depot or Launceston airport. You will be rewarded with good food, a comfy bed and a friendly household. Helpers MUST be NON SMOKERS. Due to allergies and my work with food I WON'T accept any helpers who smoke! No drugs or excessive alcohol consumption allowed. This is NOT the place for the 'party crowd', pampered Princesses' or lazy layabouts! We have a busy, somewhat chaotic, lifestyle. My interests include writing, performance poetry, Toastmasters, travel, cooking, environmental & soci... more inside

We live on a beautiful rural property only 10 minutes from the vibrant city of Hobart. We are in the process of setting up a small hobby farm, but we have a lot of work to do before we can start to produce. Our home is very small (1 room for a family of 5!!) but we have a separate caravan for guests to use. We have three young girls, 3, 5 and 7 and a gentle old dog called Toby.

Sophie works full time in an equity project at the University, and Matt is at home full time, caring for our girls, working on the land and building our home! He is a qualified carpenter, and the renovations are being done as sustainably as possible with lots of recycled materials.

Workers would be involved in tasks such as large scale weeding and land management, some help with renovations, fencing, tree management, cooking and general house duties.

We all love having guests, but you will need to be fairly independent too, as our home is so small! The caravan is cozy and clean with a small kit... more inside

We are a family of 5 (Father, Mother and 3 teenage children) living on a creekside bush property. We are a very busy household with work, school and sporting activities including horseriding and soccer.
We have been Helpx hosts for over a year and Wwoofing hosts for 3 years, many years ago.
We need help with gardening which includes weeding, brushcutting, mowing and pruning. We also are grateful for general help in maintenence of paddocks and gardens. Occasionally there will be cleaning and housework required. Mostly you will be working independently although we try to be working with you as well.
We are located 10 mins drive from Cygnet and 40mins from Hobart. Buses are infrequent but possible if you do not have your own transport. We can offer you a ride when convenient but we prefer that you are proactive in organising your own sightseeing.
Accommodation is in a separate self contained cottage where you can prepare breakfast and snacks. Lunch and dinner are together with the... more inside

Need 2 helpers after 29th March 2015 for about a month.

Our farm is mainly a grazing property with hedge rows planted up with truffle trees, chestnuts, walnuts, hazelnuts & stone pines (pine nut trees). We also have a couple of thousand Tasmanian native trees planted in shelter belts.

We try to live as sustainably as possible which means we grow our own fruit, vegetables and meat so anyone who stays with us needs to be aware that many of our 'pets' get eaten. On our farm we have a dog, cat, ducks, chooks, turkeys, sheep, finches and fish. There are small fish in a fish tank as well as brown trout and carp which can be be fished in our dam. Our dam has many birds as inhabitants including a pair of swans and over 50 ducks. Our dam is our swimming pool and place for canoeing also.

Our farm is 25 minutes from Launceston, 45 minutes from the beach and 30 minutes from the mountains. Own car would be an advantage but is not essential.

As a commercial farm we are able to sig... more inside
