Immediate vacancy from January 22nd.
We're a couple who gave up the rat race and set up our smallholding from scratch seven years ago, recently completed our new build house. We have pigs, sheep, ducks, chickens, turkeys (until Christmas), three dogs (in the house) and a cat that patrols outside! Gillian is 45 and used to work in retail management, David is a very, very young 72, retired and was a qualified architect who then set up several successful businesses. Of our three dogs one is a bit annoying and looks for a lot of attention from you, but she eventually leaves you alone! We both have private pilots licences and have a huge collection of books for you to read. We live in a lovely rural setting Non-smokers only please.

We're looking for volunteers to take responsability for feeding, watering and mucking out/ bedding our animals (pigs, sheep, chickens and ducks) which takes around 2 hours (split between morning and evening) plus 2-3 hours working on other projects (garden... more inside

We run a small outdoor cafe, open from Easter to the end of September each year. We are situated on the beautiful island of Kerrera, 5 mins off the coast of Oban in the west of Scotland. The island attracts lots of walkers and we are positioned in a great location 45 mins walk from the ferry on the south of the island close to Gylen Castle. It's the perfect place to stop for some good homemade soups, cakes and a nice cup of tea!

We also have a seven bed Bunkhouse open all year round.

Tasks would include working in the kitchen (lots of dishwashing!) and serving customers. We're open 10.30am-4.30pm, so we ask helpers to be ready to start at 10am. There will occasionally be other work such as cleaning, laundry and and gardening. Working hours will be dependent on how busy we are and we ask you to be flexible. Typically, it will be about 6hrs a day. However, we do aim to give you time to relax and explore this beautiful island!

You will deal with the public, so a good level of... more inside

We’re looking for some volunteers, ideally couples or pairs of friends (individuals are welcome too) to help with our winter projects. These will be mainly site maintenance, painting and generally getting the Croft ready for the next season. Being handy with a paint brush and good at DIY would be great, a background in maintenance would be extremely helpful.

Our estate is home to a large steading, cosy farm house, barn/cow shed event space, 7 Nordic Kata’s (kind of like a tipi), meadow and woodland camping pitches and some of the best compact downhill mountain biking trails in Scotland. Also on site are a few small businesses who share our passion, Tomnah’a Market Garden, The Tea Gar... more inside
