We are a family offering friendship, a room and meals in exchange for part-time domestic help and ad hoc childcare. Domestic help, which is to be shared with all the family, includes chipping in with everything including building fires, chopping wood, cleaning, washing, feeding and cleaning hens, pool maintenance, dog walking, cooking and shopping. We live in a large family home outside a small, friendly village in East Renfrewshire, which is 20 minutes from Glasgow. The area is beautiful and popular with cyclists, walkers and lovers of the outdoors. We can offer a friendly, thoughtful and laid back family life in exchange for some basic help. The help required is very part time leaving the person joining us free to take up other work. There are lots of farms and equestrian places in the area which might provide work. We have a large garden, animals and an indoor heated pool. (Spring to autumn only). We are trying to live sustainably and our energy is supplied by bio mass and solar ... more inside

We need help in our large house in woodland garden, on a sloping bank with water and in need of continual maintenance. One side in wooded country, the other behind main street with Edinburgh buses day and night. Lots of community projects to get involved with -see below.

We look for enthusiasm but experience of gardening, building or painting is a bonus. If you are interested in local culture and history and are happy to work unsupervised, you'll be needed!

We always need help in the kitchen, with cleaning as well as working in the garden planting and working the ground for the next season. Chopping wood is part of the routine.

There's a once weekly, not-for-profit shop supplying fairtrade & organic food and goods to our local community.

We are about 45 minutes from Edinburgh by very frequent bus. Accommodation for 1 or for 2 sharing a room for about 2 weeks. We provide meals.

We are involved in our local community, a group restoring the vast Lost Garden of Penicuik ... more inside
