Hi, we're looking for help again from 28th April and there will be a lot to do!!! :o)

We are a family of Mum (Cathy, 34 who mainly works from home,) Dad (Alex, 33 who is a personal trainer,) and little boy who is 2 years old and we live in a beautiful little cottage slap bang in the middle of a nature reserve.

Our home is tiny, and so unfortunately you won't be sleeping in the house, accommodation will probably be on a (landed) boat or possibly in a small tent. However we will of course ensure you are very comfortable, dry and warm and it is only sleeping that will have to be done outside, for all other activities you will have 24 hour access to the house. (If the weather is cold we will make up a cozy room for you in the office.)

We have a big kitchen, library / office, sitting room (with X-box, Wii and internet TV) and an outside gym and big garden as well as of course plenty of amazing countryside so you are definitely not going to feel cooped up. We also have a bath wit... more inside

There will also be opportunities to work with the community projects and from May to September I will also be needing assistance with preparing evening meals for Sea Kayaking tours.

Barra is a wonderful place to live with great beaches, sea kayaking, walking, kiting and a host of wildlife. Great for photographers and painters. There is plenty to do on the island throughout the year. I have recently taking up outdoor swimming in the sea so if you would like to join in then bring a wetsuit or not if you are brave!!!.

We run our own hill farm beside the sea, 6 and a half miles south of Oban. We have about 500 sheep, blackface and cheviots and crosses and 18 Aberdeen Angus cows with calves. We also run a bed and breakfast business.
We have both travelled quite a bit and we can provide a homely and welcoming atmosphere for someone to be part of the family and help on the farm ( marking lambs, shearing ) or with the B&B. We have 3 children who are 27, 26 and 20 who are all mostly away from home these days.
We have a spare bedroom for the helpx people and bathroom.
Good sense of humour a good thing.
We are rural but only 15 minutes drive from Oban, our local town, limited bus service.
This would suit someone who enjoys farming life and has some experience of animals, or is willing to learn. 4 to 5 hours work a day in exchange for board and keep. Preferably minimum of one week, and up to 2/3 weeks. Manual driving license useful.
It is now mid February, and we are looking for help during lambing in... more inside
