Thanks for looking.

We are currently looking for support in:

log splitting (with mechanical splitter)
garden work (together with Till)
maintenance around the small holding (with support from Mark)

This is what we are about in a nutshell:

Our lodge is a secluded, easily accessible guest house and retreat space offering bed and breakfast with stunning views of the Scottish countryside in the Kingdom of Fife. We offer a tranquil, relaxing space for those exploring the area, business people who want a more personal experience than a hotel or those just wanting to stay and be nourished in mind, body and soul" - Its a place where you can just "Be".

You will be supporting us in making the above guest experience possible.

We value authenticity, integrity, honesty and self-awareness.

We have put together this outline as a result of our hosting experience so far. We find that it helps to clarify what is on offer at Cherry Tree Lodge and what is expected of someone who... more inside

AN UPDATE 26 April 2015: We are full until the end of August. We may need one more person in September.

We are Michael (English) and Nolwenn (French).

As hosts, believe us, it is hard coordinating the helpers, waiting for replies, juggling dates. But we will reply to everyone, but please be patient. (And please read the note at the bottom...) Sorry, we'd like to host all of you!

We can host one person, a couple, or two friends.

Generally there is a variety of work to do based upon priority, weather, availability of materials, skills of HelpXers (have & learn!), and our time to do some jobs together.

There are a few things to be getting on with here, depending on priorities, and the weather:

• The priority is looking after a small cottage in the garden we rent out for holidays: preparing it for guests (once or twice a week), welcoming guests

• Completing the ‘lost garden’, see below

• Cleaning, cooking, and gardening

• An ever-changing list of things to d... more inside

We need help on the farm as spring is a busy time of the year. It depends on the weather what gets done and when.

I run a bed and breakfast with which I may also need help. Serving breakfast, cleaning, laundry, etc.

We may also need help with maintenance in the garden and polytunnel.

The farm is also a livery yard. No help should be needed with the horses. I have my own horses so there would be an opportunity to ride horses.

We are offering accommodation, meals and we hope also an enjoyable experience. The offer would suit someone who can be flexible and have fun.

We are situated in the beautiful Clyde Valley bordering a nature reserve and near the World Heritage Site of New Lanark.

Our farm is 3 miles from Lanark, and about 30 miles from Glasgow and Edinburgh so makes a good base for sight seeing.

Please do not respond if you want to come for the summer. I will not send a reply.

Our farm is situated 3 miles from Dufftown (the Malt Whisky Capital of The World)in the north east of Scotland we are currently converting a steading into holiday accommodation and are in the final stages of this. We need enthusiastic hard working people to help us finish off the project. Outdoor work weather permitting is picking and pointing stonework, laying decking and wall and fence building. Indoor work would be finishing plasterboarding and staining woodwork and painting ect. We can provide food and accommodation in exchange for this. Comfortable accommodation would be in one room in the steading. We would provide lifts to and from Dufftown where there is a bus service to Elgin. We could maybe find you a bike if you like cycling.
We are fairly easy going and good to get on with. We have 2 daughters who are home schooled and 2 Labradors. Ideally looking for someone for 2 weeks at a time but if we get on well it could be longer...a lot longer..as there is always plenty to do....

*** We are looking for people for June for big gardening work ***

We need help in our own large house in woodland garden, on a sloping bank with water and in need of continual maintenance. One side in wooded country, the other behind main street with Edinburgh buses day and night. Lots of community projects to get involved with -see below.

We prefer someone with enthusiasm and some experience of gardening, building or painting is a bonus. If you are interested in local culture and history and are happy to work unsupervised, you'll be needed!

We always need help in the kitchen, with sorting and cleaning as well as working in the garden planting and working the ground for the next season. Chopping wood is part of the routine.

There's a once weekly, not-for-profit shop supplying fairtrade & organic food and goods to our local community.

We still need to waterproof an outdoor kiln room.

We are about 45 minutes from Edinburgh by very frequent bus. Accommodation for 1 or... more inside
