Hello!

We are a super friendly, well run hostel in the gorgeous location of Fort William, known as the adventure capital of the UK.

We are looking for help for MAY JUNE and SEPTEMBER onwards. You will be doing cleaning and laundry, perhaps some painting, gardening, maintenance and any other general hostel work that ensures the hostel is sparkling and the guests are made to feel welcome.

We would love to hear from any good workers out there who are happy to muck in and do whatever is needed to make this hostel a wonderful place to be.

We ask for around 2 hours per day. In return for your help you are provided with: Bed and breakfast (not cooked), laundry facilities and free wifi. You will get one day off a week. If you are two, you will get your own room. You will also have access to our self-catering kitchen. We would like a commitment of around 2 - 3 weeks or more so that you can get involved in the hostel and be a contributing member of the staff.

Feel free to emai... more inside

Comfortable, self contained, fully furnished accommodation available IMMEDIATELY, in exchange for housekeeping, cooking, driving, and gardening/general maintenance of country cottage within Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Pensioner couple [wife is very disabled following a stroke] with an active dog and a rarely visible cat, require 'granny minding',and support - Jim is 80, and Penny is 68. We easygoing, but do like a clean, tidy house and good, simple food.

We live in a beautiful rural area that has a friendly, disperse community. We would like to think of our helpers as surrogate relatives to live with us as a family, but having separate living quarters. This would suit either a single person, or possibly a couple [the accommodation has only a double bed!]. If you are able to come to us, and stay for at least a month to six weeks, we would be delighted. This placement is really what you make of it - the work is not difficult, but routine, with generally afternoons and... more inside

Update!

Well winters short days seem to be loosing there grip and the first signs of spring are showing..
we are now ready to start taking helpers and are looking for some enthusiastic people!

please read all information and reviews before applying ! look forward to hearing from you.

This is not for the fainthearted! I am a 40 year old environmental stonemason who has recently returned from working overseas to renovate my old farm steading. The hosting is not a farm, but is situated in farm land on which there are sheep and cows,(not my animals) This is a very rural location on a small, sparsely populated island just of Oban on the West Coast of Scotland. There is no public vehicular access to the island (regular foot passenger ferry during the day) and it takes about 45 minutes to get to the town of Oban.

This would suit folk who enjoy an alternative lifestyle. I am looking for people who have useful skills, or a willingness to learn, in building and carpentry ... more inside

Our House burned down on 25 02 2014

We were working on a project to make a hostel but our house burned down on February 25th 2014. We need you to help clear up and rebuild the house !

Your bed is in Jedburgh where your meals will also be. There are four beds for volunteers in a mixed dorm.

Feel free to contact us but read the information here first and look at where we are.

Our old profile below....
Looking for help with The start of a green project. Pioneers!

We are developing a camping barn youth hostel from a stable block and establishing it as a charity.

Volunteers could help with whatever tasks suited their skills. In return there is a basic flat heated by a wood burner wifi tv etc and family meals in the main house. Trips to Edinburgh by bus are possible for days out and our remote farmhouse is in great walking cycling countryside.

We have been hosting Couchsurfers for a few years and have often ended up with hitchhikers and various "travelling through"... more inside

AN UPDATE – APRIL 2014: We like to host just one person but a couple or two friends is possible. It is hard to plan too far ahead so requests for places over the next say 10 weeks are good.

We get a lot of requests but will always reply.

Generally there is a variety of work to do based upon priority, weather, availability of materials, skills of HelpXers (have & learn!), and our time to do some jobs together.

There are a few things to be getting on with here, depending on priorities, and the weather:

• The priority is looking after a small cottage in the garden we rent out for holidays: preparing it for guests (once or twice a week), welcoming guests

• Completing the ‘lost garden’, see below

• Cleaning, cooking, and gardening

• An ever-changing list of things to do on the house and garden. There is a good opportunity to learn / share skills in decorating, painting, woodwork, plumbing, electrics, gardening.......

• Enjoying Loch Lomond, boat trips, swimming,... more inside

We are Yvonne & Matthew Anderson. We run a high quality dinner, bed & breakfast business from our home Melfort House, in the Scottish Highlands. Melfort House is building a reputation for excellent food. We have a stretch of foreshore onto Loch Melfort, some native woodland and number of fields and paddocks around the house which provide grazing to livestock. We operate a 54 foot polytunnel which provides us with veg and salad crops for our business and family. We have hens, guinea pigs, a cat and 2 dogs.

We would like 2 people (a couple or friends) to help us preferably for 4 week stays from now onwards.
We need helpers who can be flexible and are prepared to help in the garden, with dog walking and housekeeping, breakfast or dinner service. In return we can offer private, spacious accommodation, all food, laundry and WIFI. We are surrounded by beautiful hills, forests & lochs and a breathtaking landscape. Hi, we're looking for help again from 28th April and there will be a lot to do!!! :o)

We are a family of Mum (Cathy, 34 who mainly works from home,) Dad (Alex, 33 who is a personal trainer,) and little boy who is 2 years old and we live in a beautiful little cottage slap bang in the middle of a nature reserve.

Our home is tiny, and so unfortunately you won't be sleeping in the house, accommodation will probably be on a (landed) boat or possibly in a small tent. However we will of course ensure you are very comfortable, dry and warm and it is only sleeping that will have to be done outside, for all other activities you will have 24 hour access to the house. (If the weather is cold we will make up a cozy room for you in the office.)

We have a big kitchen, library / office, sitting room (with X-box, Wii and internet TV) and an outside gym and big garden as well as of course plenty of amazing countryside so you are definitely not going to feel cooped up. We also have a bath wit... more inside

**We are looking for a couple of extra helpers from next week on.. email now :-)**

We are a fun, friendly hostel in Kyleakin at the base of the Isle of Skye. The hostel is open all year round and we are always in need of helping hands to keep the place clean, tidy and welcoming for our guests. Skye entices many different travellers and we have the opportunity to enjoy their company and make their accommodation a great part of their adventure.

The Isle of Skye offers hill walking, sight seeing, outdoor adventures and mystic tales to everyone who visits. Kyleakin is part of the gateway to the island and arguably the most beautiful village on Skye! Kyleakin is a fishing village, and many a local fisherman can be befriended at the local pubs

Our hostel has two houses which accommodate both independent travellers and people on tours of the island. Although we are busiest in summer (full every night!) we have guests all year round and strive to offer the best standards to e... more inside
