We are hobby farmers as we both have a work outside the house.
We speak english, french and flemish and if you want to improve your french, I'm a teacher of french...
A driving licence can be useful but there is a train station Not far from the house and easily accessible by bicycle.

APPLICATIONS WELCOME, especially FOR LONGER STAYS

Come live and work in back-to-basics paradise for a while!
This is a healing and inspiring place that is already serving by bringing people together in a most harmonizing way. All people that have been here, go back home a more connected person. When you are volunteering at The Oak, you become part of a small-scale project with a great impact.

Staying for at least two weeks helps to get familiar with the work that needs to be done, although shorter stays are welcomed as well. (There is no max. duration for stays, as long as it feels good to all.)
Wanted from APRIL on: cooks responsible for the kitchen; (ecological) builders and people with carpenting skills. However, anyone who is a bit handy and wants to be part of manifesting this (already) healing project is very welcome!

BACKGROUND INFO
I'm building a hobbitlike, ecological round small weekend house (mainly wood and hempcrete), called Robur at The Oak. The map doesn't... more inside

Hello!

We can offer a nice place to stay from the end of March till halfway october. The minimum period to stay is 2 weeks but we prefer longer.

In general we work with 3-6 dutch volunteers / trainees and 3-4 foreign volunteers / trainees.

In our big organic garden with a beautiful design we grow, show and conserve the biggest private collection vegetables and other eatables of the Netherlands. We grow over 100 kinds of potatoes, 80 different garlics, 300 types of beans, many different nuts, herbs, flowers, fruits etc.

In summer we organize touristic activities on the gardens. We live in the north of Holland, surrounded by a varied and beautifull countryside. Our gardens are situated in the historic prison village of Veenhuizen. Nearby is the pleasant city of Assen and the big student city Groningen.

You are very welcome to help us with sowing, weeding, harvesting and a lot of other things that have to be done. We like it very much to work with people from other coun... more inside

AT this moment we are mainly looking for helpers that can help us with building jobs as we are in the middle of constructing the retreat center! This summer one of the apartments will be finished so then we can have more helpers (and we need all the help we can get :)

We moved to Zeeland in 2014, because we wanted a different lifestyle. We want to be as self sufficient as possible. We have just build an energy neutral wooden house and last two winters we planted over 2500 trees and bushes to create a windfree garden for the nuts and fruit trees and the vegetable garden. Also we created a vegetable circle with all kinds of vegetables, a passarella for edible climbing plants and we have a green house.
Most of the work will be in the garden, planting veggies, but also digging trenches, building mounds, trimming and so forth. We wish to dig a small water to welcome frogs and other animals that have snails for dinner :)
Also some help in the Household or painting the chicken shed t... more inside

Hi, we are a family of travellers. We love to travel. When not travelling, we need travellers around us, to help us with the household chores including cleaning and washing, and bringing our 2 daughters to school and sports. When travelling, we need house- and catsitters.
We offer a private room with a shared bathroom (only shared with another volunteer) and all meals included. We normally cook together, except for the weekend (in which you can use our food, but you cook yourself).
We will ask you to work between 20 and 25 hours a week.
While being with us, you normally will be living together with 1 or 2 other volunteers.

We like volunteers to stay for at least 3 weeks.

When your interested please drop us a note.

Thank you.

Ciao Ellen

Who are we?

I am Julie, a Waldorf high school teacher and a horse trainer and my husband is a contractor. We are both almost 30 years old. After many travels and different projects we are now settling down. We bought and old farmhouse and some land, both in very bad shape. We hope to renovate the house in a sustainable way and use the land to slowly become self-sufficient. This is a long term goal and it will take many years to achieve it.

We do everything ourselves.

So we need help.

We decided to look for someone (or 2) using Help x because we used the site ourselves to travel around and we really loved it.

Are you fond of working in the garden, working on the land, working with horses or building work, or a combination of all of them?

Are you a respectful honest and kind person?

Are you willing to work hard?

Contact us!

What can you expect?

We live in de the house and renovate it at the same time, so be prepared to live on a construction site. You wi... more inside
