I am the owner of a Hostel in Bucharest, Romania.
It is a family Business run by myself and my father.
We have opened the Hostel in June 2012 and it is now the best rated Hostel in the city. The property dates back to 1890 and a lot of the original artistic elements of the house have been professionally restored.
We run a very laid back business and enjoy creating a pleasant and somewhat unique experience for travelers.

Having lived here all my life and also having done a fair share of traveling , I think I can very easily help someone volunteering get in touch with everything that is Romanian Culture.(youth life, history, partying, traveling in Romania,entertainment....etc)

Hello. We're Romania's largest hostel and we need help. There is always some work that has to be done, and always some fun to be had. We will need you to entertain guests, some cleaning, some painting (street artists welcome too!), fixing things if you can, some data entry, and just about anything else. Oh yea, you keep the energy high, and entertain guests. You will get free drinks for this... we will discuss later.

Also, if you have blogging, sem, seo, web and/or graphical design, we really hope to work something out.

Depending on what you are looking for, we ask a certain amount of hours from you. Generally 20 hours of work is a free week, work more, get some drinks, and some. We will get the basics of food (pasta, bread, sauces, canned meats, etc) and you'll get a bar discount too, and free drinks on special events. This is a fine line here, but we will discuss in person.

Please only contact us if you plan on arriving within a couple of weeks. It makes it a lot easier f... more inside

WE NEED HELPERS FOR SPRING CLEAN-Up: YARD WORK, LANDSCAPING AND BASIC CONSTRUCTION. THERE IS ALSO A RIVERBED TO BE CLEARED

Old age in the Romanian countryside is a Horror! No running water, biting cold, no hot meals, being snowed in and unable to leave your home for weeks! Peasant farmers without their extended families are left to fend for themselves.

Lisa is a small town in desperate need of a helping hand.

Our team is currently establishing an organic farm to offer financial support to the needs of a pay-as-you-can centre for the elderly in Lisa, Teleorman, ROMANIA.

In addition to construction workers, we need help to pull weeds and clear about 4000m2 of farm land that has not been worked for 10 years. There is an orchard, a fish pond and a vegetable garden under all the weeds. We have set up a portion of the land with onions and garlic which will need weeding. We want to plant garden vegetables for the kitchens and canning so there is plenty of stuff to do on the g... more inside

We are a small hostel (26 beds) run by a young couple. The hostel is situated in a nice villa in a central area of Bucharest. We opened the business in May 2012 so we are still at the beginning.

We are looking for someone to work at front desk: check-in tourists, tell them about the city, make beds. Activities like socializing with tourists and doing small tours may be part of your activity. Also you can be creative and bring your ideas on how to improve our business.

The working schedule is usually 6 hours per day/ 5days per week but we are flexible. In exchange for your help we can offer accommodation and breakfast. We would want the volunteers to stay for about one month.

No specific help needed at the moment, but if you want to come to Transylvania it's worth dropping me a line.

GENERAL: Do the Timewarp in Transylvania... It's a little bubble of rural paradise, 1,000m up in the Carpathian Mountains of Romania. Horses and carts, haymaking with scythes, traditional smallholding skills and way of life.
You're hardy, self-sufficient and enjoy country life. If you're fit and healthy, love walking, know how to chop wood and light a stove, don't need urban delights, you'll do well here. If you speak some Romanian that would be great, but German or Spanish will help. Transport - if you have a 4x4 that would be perfect, but most cars are okay on the roads here if you drive carefully. No car, still viable - you can get lifts off neighbours, and/or use the local taxis (quite cheap) down to Zarnesti (the nearest town). The villagers mostly walk or take the horse & cart, and my visitors have all been happy to walk up and down.
