We have an organic small farm (4 ha) with horse, 2 cows, goat, 20 sheep and rabbits. There's beautiful lakes all around for swimming, fishing and watching sunrise. Now, We are doing some permaculture gardening and need help to prepare garden beds, planting and sawing will be actual till mid July. Sheep babies have born and we feed some of them. We need to clean environment and barns after winter as well. We are also in the progress of building a strawbale house and need help to finish it :). We are a big family - with 4 children from 5 to 11 years old. There's also some household chores we need help in. The life here is simple, basic village life, hence food is prepared on a hot firestove, there's a rocket stove, clay oven and a nice sauna, but not hot shower. If you like a nature life, this is for you. There is a beautiful attic room upstairs for volunteers and Internet WIFI but with limited downloads amount. Our family owned camping is right on the outskirts of Riga, only 15km from city centre, surrounded by a countryside environment. Being post-soviet country Latvia may not seem a dream destination, but all people who have come to stay with us said they were surprised how much they liked it here. Our campsite is not a big place and we are in the seems-to-be-never-ending process of building and improving. Most of the things we build and design and construct ourselves, as well as looking after our clients, which are campsite guests, hosting private parties, children summer camps, squash. Volunteers have come to help us the last few years and it has been a lot of fun for all of us.

The range of help we ask is wide - from everyday chores,like cleaning, looking after our cute 12 bunnies and cutting grass, to construction of our new projects (mostly woodworks) - we try to make your stay here as diverse and interesting as possible. Living with and from nature, Speaking 4 languages (Latvian, German, English, Russian) . We love Kids and they are every time welcome. We have a dog, a cat and ferrets. Next spring we will have goats, pigs and rabbits too. We have 4 Ha Farmland with garden and 2,5 Ha Forest. In the house and 5 barns are every time some things to do (Renovating) The wood have to clean up and to cut some trees. Guests will have there own room or in summer can sleep in a tent.

For the restoration of one old barn we are looking at the period from 06 - 26.05.2013 for at least six volunteers with the following skills: roofers for wood shingle, carpenter, joiners.
Furthermore, we are looking for strong and technically skilled people who can build a wall with natural stones and / or wood flooring. We will be happy to include couples or families - women (and children) do the lighter work or help in the garden.

From summer 2013 we will also have our own hay hotel where you can sleep with your sleeping... more inside

We are new family. And together we are truing to make our huge house which is 300 years old. Our project starts just now so we need to be brave to start all this in nice way. There is a major building necessary now. Living stile more like hardcore no water in house. In summer we are dealing with this water thing and we hope that we will manege to make a nice toilet with shower. Now we are planing to deal with heating furnace to start living there. there is country side house 17km from ore place. there is a huge garden where we are growing ore food and cooking ore traditional bred. house is next to huge river and longest waterfall in eastern Europe. we are pretty ease going.

There with us lives Linda's grandma, young dog boy and a cat. :)
We spend summer in Latvia, autumn/winter in Uk, but in spring time going around the world...

..just lost in nature and touched its beauty...
..and ART IS EVERYWHERE...
We can find inspiration in all ways we can....
....In tall grass,....in small old town with smell of spring or big city with graphical glasses,....in sound of grasshopper,or in old old yellow newspapers list who can tell us story...

We really enjoy all what life offers to us...

If you plan to visit our beautiful city and are looking for an accommodation during your stay as well as for a nice, local society- welcome to our place!
