I may be able to accommodate a helper in mid May to the end of June. I need a person who is used to working in a busy kitchen and is able to multi task and keep things moving smoothly.
Until mid June, two days a week off (Monday and Tuesday) and then 1 day a week off.
If you are interested, feel free to e mail me to discuss a stay. The busy season is upon us and the café can get quite busy, however there is some quiet time too, so it all balances out fairly.
There's lots of nature walks and be advised this is a rural part of the province, so it is quiet where I live. The capital city is just 40 minutes away and I can usually arrange a ride.
If this is the sort of placement you are looking for, I would love to hear from you.
Thanks. Judi

*WE ALREADY HAVE ENOUGH HELPERS FOR SUMMER 2013*
Our Hostel is located right in the middle of downtown St.John's, only 5 minutes walk to the waterfront and a 15 minute walk from George Street and all the other major amenities.
We are looking for helpers for our hostel during our high season which runs from the middle of May until the middle of September.
Main duties will be housekeeping (making beds and cleaning) and possibly a bit of work at the front desk (check in new guest, tell them everything about the hostel, our tours and possible activities in the city). We require ca. 25 hours of work per week in exchange for food and accommodation, at least one day off per week. Our helpers also get the chance to join our tours for free on their days off (whale watching, fossils of Mistaken Point e.g.)
Minimum stay: 1 month

We are a non profit organization and have been in operation since 2005. We have micro hydro and wind turbine on site. We are searching for people with 'handyman' skills including carpenters/builders who like being in nature and who like alternative community development. Tasks for helpers could include construction activities related to the main retreat centre building, a permanent bunkhouse, green house and accommodation spaces. There is need for landscaping and especially focus on the organic gardens for those with green thumb! We are flexible and helpers should work with what resonates inside them. We have lots of tools!
Accommodation For accommodations, we have wood heat, floored & tarped bunkhouse and outhouse. Water is from a nearby ground spring. The focus is on sustainable communion living in Nature. The Centre has many spiritual activities such as daily yoga and meditation which you may avail of them in exchange for working. We will provide food and accommodations. Liv...

We have a small half acre property that we are working on to make a productive organic garden for fruit, vegetables and chickens.
The site has recently been cleared of weeds and scrub. Now we are looking for some help in creating garden beds. The work will mainly involve helping us to move wood, rocks and earth.
We will provide guidance and all tools. Just bring your enthusiasm! There is not a great deal stress in doing the work (probably about 3-4 hours per day maximum) as this is a long term project.
We have a self contained studio under the house and all meals are provided.

This is basically wild land but we have two 50 acre lots pioneered from boreal forest in Labrador. One of our lots is wooded which we are working at Christmas trees and native berrys on. The other lot is burnt over and we have cleared about 20 acres. There is a colony of beavers that live in the pond on the farm, there are several porcupines in the nearby woods that visit frequently and moose cross the farm fields regularly and a groundhog has a burrow near the rootcellar. We live in town, 10 miles from our farm. We grow vegetables for sale and sell eggs from 50 laying hens. We are planning to get some sheep, bees and maybe a cow this summer so fences and a small barn are in the plans. We have a cabin at the farm(with electricity and internet)for living quarters. It needs work and has no running water but is warm and dry.

We are custodians of a truly Irish Newfoundland private museum. Some of our items have appeared as props in some great movies: Random Passage, The Shipping News, Rare Birds, Misery Harbor, Quest for the Sea, Swallowed, Above and Beyond & many more.
As you can imagine, keeping a private museum and prop storage organized is more than a two person job! We'd love strong workers who don't mind getting a little dusty for organization and labeling of items, as well as people who have some construction or farm experience to help out with outdoor projects like building a deck and barn at some point.
Allergy warning, we have pet goats, turkeys, geese, chickens and a sweet old cat wandering around and that's just for now! Only the cat lives indoors, but the other animals are very much a part of the family. We are meat and potatoes people, it would be very difficult for us to cater to a vegetarian/vegan diet, so please be aware of that before contacting us.
Separate bedroom and bathro...

My primary residence is in St. John's , Newfoundland, a city rich in history and cultural and artistic events. I live close to the downtown area. I recently purchased an old salt box house on an acre of land in New Chelsea,on the North East Avalon, nearly a two hour drive from St. John's. The land has been farmed previously, and I plan to develop that land for organic subsistence gardening. The area is open meadow with the ocean, hiking trails and surfing beach nearby. This coming spring will be my first spring on this property and I would hope to develop several raised beds and plant seed as well as raspberry and blackberry canes. Also I will need to repair the fence around an already existing chicken coop.
I am part of a group of individuals who are trying to renew interest in vegetable gardening in rural Newfoundland, particularly with a focus on organic farming.
I would be hoping for assistance in May and June for one or two weeks.
If you come for a week we would sp...
