We are located in Ontario Canada, on Manitoulin Island the largest fresh water Island in the world, heart of the great lakes. This large Island has 108 inland lakes and sandy beaches.
We have a 1/4 h garden that provides organic local food for our artisan bakery & events restaurant. We host a dinner event called Gourmet Garden Gig with live entertainment Wednesdays and Saturdays in July and August.
Our garden provides a space to linger and enjoy a cup of tea at lunch time. We teach our help-x about most we do. You like to learn gardening, bee-keeping, cooking, herbs, remedies and selling good food, your are a great fit for our small but very diverse little business. Farm to Table is what it is called in Canada. Since we teach various skills we prefer help-x to stay a minimum of 2 weeks, best learning experience will be 4-6 weeks with us.

In Summer 2018, from May to October, we are seeking help with cabin housekeeping, painting cottage windows and doors, stacking camp firewood, repairs, carpentry work, and general help around the lodge and cottages.

In 2010 we opened a cultural centre in little village of Yarker, Ontario. We have an art gallery, movie screenings, concerts, slide-shows, lectures and other interesting events. We also hold an art festival in September. The house needs a lot of renovation and we are working on it on our own, because we have quite low budget.
There is still a lot of things to do, like repairing walls, some other construction work, painting etc.. But mainly we need help with the garden (weeding, planting, digging) and with the cultural centre activities (like attending the gallery, hanging the exhibitions, help with workshops and other events, etc. .
In exchange for help we can offer accommodation, food, friendly atmosphere and some fun (like you can do hiking, biking and trips around, or canoeing, or swimming in the river in front of the house in the summer). We hope that you would help for 6-7 hours a day, 5 days per week.
Please, keep in mind that the place doesn't look like a five star hotel... more inside
