We are situated on 22 acres with spectacular views of the countryside-just one hour north of Toronto and accessible by GO train or GO bus to Orangeville where I can pick you up. There are three available bedrooms with two single beds in each and great views. Each room has indoor and outdoor access. There is an indoor salt water pool(available May to October), pool table, exercise equipment, many kilometres to walk, healthy food prepared for you, no TV service but DVD and videos are available for movie watching and free internet/skype are at the library. Outdoor work is required such as tree pruning with a chain saw, weed wacking with a gas powered wacker, gardening, trimming, weeding, simple construction, window washing, building a walkway, digging, painting, etc. Last year's helpers proved to be a great experience for me and them (see comments). Please see my website for Savannah Wellness Retreat. Personally, I have travelled over most of the world and would not trade the ex...

Please note: we won't respond to anything that looks to us like a bulk request. We want to see good references, and failing that, we need to read interesting and detailed profiles, especially in cases where prospective helpers are new to Helpx and have few or no references. We always wrote references for our hosts when our impressions were positive, and we will write them for our helpers, which is a benefit for newcomers to Helpx.
We're open to hosting foreign visitors exploring Canada. We've been Helpx helpers ourselves with six hosts in Australia, New Zealand, Ecuador and Peru. We believe in the "cultural exchange" philosophy stated on the Helpx home page.
This is a private home, a residential property within the city of Toronto. It is a small cottage in a suburb close to the lake, about half an hour by the bus/subway system from the downtown centre. There is driveway parking if someone arrives in a rental car, and the bus stop is only a short walk to the end of our str...

My 18 year old daughter, Cock-a-Poo dog and I live in a house in Parry Sound. There is a sunny guest room with a double bed. The house is on a 1/2 acre wooded lot and is a short walk to the fitness trails and 3 beaches on Big Sound. We are 2 hours north of Toronto. We also have a cottage called Waverley House, located on the Byng Inlet on Georgian Bay and another house in the village of McKellar, that we are preparing for sale in the fall. We need help at these locations with cleaning, painting, landscaping, planting and harvesting veggies, maintaining the yards and buildings. While Helpers work 35 hours/week the schedule can be can be flexible. Helpers who have construction skills or are willing to learn new skills are a real asset. We can teach you. You need not bring tools but having your own work gloves, ear plugs and eye protection is advisable. You will also need your own sun screen, bug repellent and first aide supply's.
Helpers will have access to nearby lakes ...

We are two long time friends who share common goals and desires for a simpler life, living on a fifty acre farmstead located between Ottawa and Montreal. We are in the process of restoring an old farm, reviving pastures and fields, and working towards self sufficiency. We grow fruit & vegetables, and raise Shetland sheep for wool and meat. We also raise chickens for eggs and meat as well as a few geese. We use the wool from the sheep to make some of our products that we sell, such as felt hats, toques, mittens, sweaters, and more.
We have been welcoming Canadian and international travelers through various programs for over 15 years, and have had some wonderful times, and developped lasting friendships along the way. We truly enjoy sharing our lives and our love for the homesteading arts and are grateful for the benefits these opportunities bring as well as committed to working through some of the challenges that crop up as strangers become friends. Skills and experience are not a...

We, Rob and Leyla, met overseas where we traveled together and wwoofed along the way. We have a passion for traveling and people as well as the farming life. We hope to learn as much from you as you can from us. We're laid back and hard working and would love to host some like minded people for weeks at a time. We are looking for people that love to work and laugh and have some experience/passion in gardening and general outdoor farming work as well as carpentry. Strength, both physically and mentally and a get up and go attitude for life is necessary. We also have an adorable three year old little boy that could always use a friend though having children is not a must but liking children definitely is. We are looking for people beginning in March and straight through the season. We are hoping to have a few wwoofers at a time this season. Rob is also fluent in german, dutch and italian if this is of interest to anyone, practice a language while fencing perhaps ;) If you are looking ...

We currently live on our campground resort property with a farming component as well. Our farm is located right off the Trans Canada highway in Northern Ontario which makes it an ideal place for anybody looking for helpx stops working their way across Canada (either to or from the West). On our farm there are horses, bunnies, alpacas, chickens, cats and dogs. We are adding ducks, goats and pigs this summer. I am disabled and unable to do anything around the farm (except enjoy the love of the animals), so my husband does all the farm and house chores himself. We purchased this 230 acre (93 hectares) waterfront property called Puddingstone Harbour Resort in 2012 so there is still a lot of work to be done. The property contains cabin rentals, a small campground and a working farm. There will be a lot of building run-ins, painting, cleaning, etc. to be done. Other day-to-day chores and additional projects (ie. piling wood, moving hay pile, building run-ins, fixing fencing, etc.)...

Be part of the behind the scenes action at a small environmentally sensible cabin and campground resort with an international clientele. Successful applicants would be willing to paint, cut grass, spring clean buildings, enjoy the remote surroundings, garden, help with various construction projects... Broad scope of work and leisure time activities. Great dinner conversations, possible ESL instruction. Any electricians out there looking for a stay in a place like this? I have a list of fixture and switch swaps to be done. Also, I always have carpentry work on the to do list. Minimum stay is 2 weeks. Please, no arrivals or departures on long holiday weekends! More bunks available spring and fall, only 2 will be accepted for July/August.
