Hi HelpX Helpers. We are new to this process & are very much looking forward to sharing what we have learned from our farming/ranching beginnings to now, and are eager to learn about farming/ranching practices from your country.
Our home quarter was once trees and rocks & over time (approx 35 years) we've expanded our acres and developed the land into a ranching operation with approx 140 head of cows that we calve out in early spring. We live about 40 minutes from the nearest city (Meadow Lake) which has a small population of approx 5,500 people. It's a strong farming community plus we have a number of forestry operations (mills) in the area and other economic interests that keep the community continually growing.
Our house is in a quiet area & we enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Internet service and cell service are available. We have a fire pit in the yard as well as a hot tub that you are welcome to use. Trips to town are mainly for grocery shopping, picking up farm supp... more inside

Its a whole new world at Winning Ways! Visitors find there is much to see and do. If you are interested in horses, cows, ranching, equine education of any sort, or life in general, Winning Ways is the right place. Winning Ways helps folks find out more about the world and themselves. It's a gate to a whole new world - all you need to do is walk through.

We enjoy hosting visitors from around the world and across the country. We would be glad to show you rural Western Canadian hospitality and culture. We like to have our volunteers stay for 4 weeks minimum, if they are interested in working on the ranch. However, if you only have a short holiday planned, we will try to accommodate helpers who may wish to stay for less than a month.

Winning Ways is home to about 80 commercial cows, their calves and 20 head of horses. The equine venture consists of many school horses, various types of tack and equipment for lessons, trail rides and Equine Assisted Learning.

Hi, I am a 55 year old woman with a number of rental properties. At times I require workers to assist 4 or 5 hours per day with cleaning, painting , renovating and flower gardening. I can provide tasks that match your skill and interest level as there is always plenty to do. I like to laugh and joke but at first I admit I can be a bit shy !

About the Farm:
We have a ranch with approximately 50 beef cows and their calves, several horses, a miniature donkey, a goat, a sheep, two llamas and numerous cats and dogs.

In winter all our animals are in the home yard and you can help us feed and check on the animals and spring is our calving season - always a busy time but fun time.
In summer you can help us with hauling the hay bales (round bales) from the field to the home yard (using tractors and bale wagons), farmyard maintenance, vaccinate calves & do other veterinary work. Also help with the younger horses. In the fall we bale square bales and get ready for the winter.

Other jobs include making, checking and mending fences, general yard tidy up. We also would like you to help with general household duties including cooking as part of our family. If you are mechanically inclined we have a heated well equipped farm shop and we always have machinery which needs maintenance and repairs.

There are lots of opportu... more inside

Hi! Harvest is over for the year! Weaning of calves is over too! Accommodations in the winter change and you will have your own place in Ravenscrag. Saskatchewan is not all flat! Don't miss out! We are the perfect pit stop if you are traveling across Canada. We live in the province of Saskatchewan which is beside Alberta and Manitoba. We are 1-1.5 hours off the transcanada highway #1 and the same amount of time to the USA border with Montana. I am looking for help around the home and there are opportunities to help on the farm. I am substitute teacher, run a small business, active community member, keep a house, writer, take care of animals and help on the farm. My husband operates a mixed farm with 450 beef cattle and 15,000 acres and is a big Toronto Maple Leafs NHL fan. There are lots of old and new machinery and vehicles around the property. There is a shop where machines are fixed and a cleaning plant. The farm seeds canola, peas and wheat. We live in a hamlet called Ravenscr... more inside

My partner and I run an Auction Company selling horses, exotic animals, antiques, and property. We require a few extra hands on the farm and at our auction sales. We also run a fairly large cow/calf operation which in the months of May/June there is much to be done to prepare the cattle to head out to pasture for summer.

You will be working with animals almost on a daily basis including feeding, cleaning and preparing animals for sale as well as working with the animals on sale days, as well as hands-on work with calves during vaccination and branding.

A valid drivers license would be an asset.

Must speak some English!
Ideally would be here from April on.
