My tree nursery is located 120km west of Edmonton and only a 2.5 hour drive away from famous Jasper National Park in the Rocky Mountains.
We need help with stapling, tying and crimping the trees we dug, digging and planting seedlings, caring for the trees in our nursery and you might help with tree planting and landscaping jobs all over Alberta. In spring we sometimes go as far as BC to dig trees. Tree care means pruning, fertilizing, parasite and weed control. Working here also includes renovating and building projects, i.e. fencing, painting or carpentry. There are a beautifully landscaped yard and rock gardens to look after and some fruit picking in summer. One of our helpers is usually in charge of the daily horse chores. As we are all living together we share the household work. The tree business is seasonal - weather permitting we might start as early as the end of March and work until the end of November.
In winter and occasionally if there is time for it in summer we trai... more inside

We will not be looking for helpers until next spring. Due to a change in the plans of one of our helpers we are presently looking for an INTERMEDIATE or EXPERIENCED rider who can stay until at least July 15, 2017. We are located 30 minutes west of Calgary in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. We have horses and would like to find someone with horse experience who will help with daily chores and schooling horses.. We are active in combined driving and drive pairs of Welsh ponies, Morgan crosses and Shires. We also ride ( English) and are lucky to have access to miles of forestry trails. We are looking for helpers who like to work and be around horses. We plan a busy, horsey summer and need to get and keep our horses fit. Days here involve riding and training horses. It's fun for the person who loves and understands horses. As much riding as you want. You will also help us with driving our horses. Peace and quiet guaranteed. Ideally our helpers will also help with meals from time ... more inside

I live on a Ranch, 30 minutes S.W. on Calgary, with a terrific view of the Rocky Mountains.
All the wildlife that you can imagine, live in this area.
The chores here are varied. I need help with
Feeding, and maintenance of the Sheep and their pens.
The garden consists of raised garden boxes, cold frames and some ground beds. Weeding, watering, harvesting and improving the garden is one of the summer chores.
I only have a few Horses, that require some attention. Feeding and maintaining their pastures.
The small chicken house requires daily cleaning, feeding and collecting of eggs.
When the hay is ready for harvesting, there are a few longs days of collecting and stacking the bales. It is always a race with the weather, to get the bales into the barn before we get hit with a thunderstorm or rain shower.
Experience with a chainsaw is helpful.
Landscaping experience is also very welcome.
Fixing and improving fences, and corrals is an on going project.
Cleaning & cooking... more inside

I sell certified organic produce year-round at an indoor Saturday farmer's market. Also offer a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) garden during summer/fall. And sell to several Edmonton restaurants, and some wholesale to food retailers.
The Farm is only 45 minutes north of Edmonton, Alberta, on top of the Redwater River valley -- a beautiful farm!
We eat all organic, vegetarian (vegan) food -- it is excellent!
I hire workers from Mexico every year, who help me run the farm. It is an incredible amount of work. Potential apprentice(s) should be interested in organic market gardening, and be able to fit into our busy, time-sensitive work environment. I can always use another pair of motivated hands.
There is a spare bedroom in the basement, which is clean and comfortable. We share the house: bathroom, kitchen, meals, cleanup, etc. And, while I appreciate getting to know new people, I appreciate quiet time just as much. I am not looking for loud, aggressive people.
Thank you... more inside

We live on 40 acres right next to the Kananaskis Park which links to Banff National Park. We are on the edge of true wilderness ...with no neighbors, no traffic, not stores and lots of space. I run a yoga studio on the property. We have many gardens that all have some permaculture practises in place. We also have a pond for swimming. There are dogs, cats, horses, and chickens all friendly and need some lovin care. ... Right now we are putting our gardens to bed for the fall and planting some garlic. Our sites are moving inside to some renovation projects as the weather gets cooler. Firewood is a big big effort here as the fireplace in the studio and house needs feeding all winter long. I also always welcome those that love to organize and clean our home and studio...a constant battle.

Looking for animal lovers!!!

Located approx. 1 hour north of Calgary, set in the rolling hills of Kneehill county in the shadows of the Rockies. The nearest airport is Calgary and the nearest Greyhound is Olds, Airdrie, Drumheller or Red Deer.

We are looking for helpers to help develop our new (if not rather old 95yo) house, to help work and train our 4 horses and 1 foal, and to experience first hand the Canadian way of life.

Recent Horse experience is a MUST as there will be some (if not a lot of) riding involved, and we don't have the time to train beginner riders. Helmet and boots must be worn when riding.

Training and caring for our horses involves working with first time foals to advanced horses trained in both Western and English.

Experience in renovations is not required as you will learn to use a whole range of power tools and skills during your stay, but enthusiasm and motivation are.

Love of animals is a must as we have 6 cats and a dog. And all of them ... more inside
