I'm a veterinarian and have my Vet clinic and home east of Sexsmith. In addition I have a little farm with cows, pigs, horses, emus, chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese, rabbits, pigeons, cats and zebrafinches - and most of the time we have a horse/dog/cat here as a patient as well.we also milk a few cows daily for the fresh butter
we have lots of baby rabbits right now lots, every helper gets at least one to take home
SO IF YOU LOVE ANIMALS : this is the right place for you. There are lots of animals to feed,
you can:
- learn how to milk a cow (if you don't know it already),
- bottlefeed the calves (especially in winter and spring)
- feed the poultry, collect eggs (it does not get fresher than that!)
- take care of our rabbits, they like to be cuddled and spoiled with freshly picked dandelion :-)
- cook, if you like to
- make hay with us if you come between july and September
- do some gardening, we always try to grow some veggies, salads etc - just for our own use

We are a very diversified agricultural based operation. We are looking for people who are interested in staying for an extended period of time, at least two months. Spring has sprung and we are now working on both teams and saddle horses. We train draft cross colts to ride and drive and market them to guest ranches, hunting camps and to pleasure riders. It is good fun and most of our time is spent outdoors putting miles on saddle horses and teams. If you are interested you must be willing to learn how we do things so the horses handle the way our customers want them to. You will also have a chance to learn how to weld, cut metal and do woodwork as we build sleighs and wagons on days that the weather is to bad to drive teams or ride.. We train horses from miniatures to large draft horses. We are looking forward to hearing from young people who would like to experience our lifestyle as we have had very good experiences with people from other countries.
We supply you with a place to l... more inside

We are now looking again for one more helper to be with us until the end of the season (mid to end of April).

Located 1/2 hour east of Grande Prairie.
We are currently looking for one more person to join our team to help with the training and taking care of our sled dogs. The person should be dynamic and energy driven to assist us in our daily running and care for our active 60 dog kennel, with or without experience in mushing and handling sled dogs, starting beginning of October 2016 until the end of the sled season ca. End of March-beginning of April 2017. We ask people to stay a minimum of 3 month, preferably for the whole season (6 month), because we put a lot of work into the right candidates and it takes every inexperienced helper about 6-8 weeks to understand and learn everything they need to be able to work independently.
We provide room, board, wireless internet and laundry services.
Everything that evolves around daily care and running sled dogs. The right candidate... more inside

Hello happy travellers!

We live in rural northern alberta. We have 6 children at home with us, ages 3 years to 11 years. We live on a small farm and have a garden, horses and a cow but we are not big farmers. We love young people and hosting people from other countries and the experience of making the world more real to our children.

Our children are accepting, friendly, and mischievous too. We are looking to exchange room and board for about 4 hours of help with the children, housekeeping or outdoor chores plus one additional hour in the evening helping with supper and kitchen cleanup. In the spring and summer weed picking is the main help needed.

We are a Christian family and regularly attend church on Sundays. You are welcome to join us if you wish. We have lots of space to roam. We also have a dugout for swimming and kayaks to use in the summer. Snowshoes in the winter. In the winter on clear cold nights you may be lucky enough to see the magical Northern Lights. Looking for animal lovers and responsible helpers!!!

Located approx. 1 hour north of Calgary, set in the rolling hills of Kneehill county in the shadows of the Rockies. The nearest airport is Calgary and the nearest Greyhound is Olds, Airdrie, Drumheller or Red Deer.

We are looking for helpers to help develop our new (if not rather old 95yo) house, to help work and train our 5 horses, and to experience first hand the Canadian way of life.

Recent Horse experience is a MUST as there will be some (if not a lot of) riding involved, and we don't have the time to train beginner riders. Helmet and boots must be worn when riding.

Training and caring for our horses involves working with young and/or advanced horses trained in Western and/oe English.

Experience in renovations is not required as you will learn to use a whole range of power tools and skills during your stay, but enthusiasm and motivation are.

Love of animals is a must as we have 6 cats and a dog. And all of t... more inside
