We have a large family home situated very close to a provincial park in Calgary but with a direct bus downtown. The Rocky Mountains and Banff are nearby. We require one helper( but sometimes two friends would be o.k.if we have enough work) to help with some repairs, painting and gardening; no special skills necessary. I always need someone for housework and maybe cooking.Around 6 hrs. a day Mon. to Fri. would be great, or you could do more hours on fewer days. Very flexible. Free accommodation and all meals. Any length of time ok ( 2 week - 2 mths.). We have homestay students and are used to having people around the house.

We are a very diversified agricultural based operation. We are looking for people who are interested in staying for an extended period of time, at least two months. They must be willing to learn. We have a horse training operation where we train both saddle horses and teams to drive for resale and for customers. We train horses from miniatures to large draft horses. In the summer we use 3 round pens to start colts and there is usually 50 plus horses on the ranch. Our horses are not kept in a stable, there are no stalls to be mucked or water to carry. We do have a barn that we work in when the weather is poor.
We also have a tire recycling company where we build water troughs for livestock and a welding shop and a saw mill for our own use. We have two cabins for people to stay in and we feed all of our helpers. As we live a distance from any major centre we would appreciate if our helpers have international licences. If they would like to stay on for a few months or more a ...

Hello potential helpers! We are a family of five, with children ages 7,6, and 2. We live on a military base, just outside Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Our home is on the edge of the city but on the bus route, and I am willing to drive occasionally and/or participate in some outings :) Local attractions include West Edmonton Mall, Muttart Conservatory, Historical parks like Fort Edmonton, as well as one of the worlds largest Fringe Theatre Festivals (summer) and several winter festivals and attractions. I have an active social life and would love to include helpers in outings and get-togethers, if they like. Our 7 year old has done 2 years of Mandarin Bilingual schooling and has just transferred to a Francophone school. We'd like to host French speakers who can help teach the kids as they start their new french school. We also have a piano and would love a guest who would like to teach piano basics to the kids. The ideal guest would be willing and able to help wi...

My tree nursery is located 120km west of Edmonton and only a 3 hour drive away from famous Jasper National Park in the Rocky Mountains. We need help with stapling, tying and crimping the trees we dug, planting seedlings, caring for the trees in our nursery and you might help with tree planting and landscaping jobs all over Alberta. In spring we sometimes go as far as BC to dig trees. Working here also includes renovating and building projects. There are a beautifully landscaped yard and rock gardens to look after, some fruit picking in summer and there is much weeding to do. As we are all living together we share the household work. The tree business is seasonal - we start in spring when the ground thawed out and work into the month of November. In winter and whenever there is time for it in summer we train our foals and brake young horses to ride or to pull a wagon. You can stay with us in a big rustic log house where we have 4 bedrooms with queen size beds or bunk beds and 2 ...

We've just launched our new website: check us out at www.earthworksfarm.ca
May is going to be a big month for us - planting 4000 tree seedlings on our new farmsite as well as getting in our garden and tending our animals. Looking for keen helpers to be rewarded with good, homegrown/cooked food and company!
2013 will be our third summer raising pastured poultry and a big year as we will be working on our the new farmstead we plan to move to in the fall. We are looking forward to sharing our experience (and our food!) with you.
We are putting in a largish garden for ourselves which we eat from in the summer and put up for our winter. Our main 'for-income' production is the tending of pastured poultry; grass-fed and finished beef; ducks and geese. This will be our first year doing pork. We are focused on raising heritage breeds appropriate for our climate and ecosystem.
We'd be looking for help with the regular chores of moving our chickens, caring for the ducks and geese...

Hi Helpers!
We are a small, busy family, looking for help at our home in rural Alberta. We are about a hour from the Rocky Mountains, and live in small community of active, creative people. We are very social and have many friends who we spend time with playing music, having dinners and helping with projects. At home we eat organic food, and in the summer, we eat a lot of food from our large garden.
If you are interested in growing food, we have many friends who are leading permaculturists (sustainable food systems). We have hosted a number of visitors, from Switzerland to Japan, From Germany to Quebec, and we all have fun!
Our home is close to Banff, Calgary, Edmonton, and lots of great sites. We love to take day trips on the weekends, and during the week we enjoy a fairly relaxed time at home or around town, with friends and family and with all that Alberta has to offer. In the area, there are opportunities in the winter to downhill ski/snowboard, cross-country ski, snows...
