We have a beautiful farm overlooking Kootenay Lake and the Purcell Mountains in the Kootenay area of south-eastern B.C. We are a husband and wife team who raise horses, grow hay, have a small orchard with mainly apple trees and some pears, plums, cherries, and peaches. we want to grow some of our food and are starting a large vegetable garden plus some berry bushes.

There is always help needed to take care of the horses. Other typical projects involve maintaining the fences, gardening, and painting. Depending on the season we may also be harvesting fruit and preserving it. If you are interested in 'food security' you can gain experience with us.

We enjoy meeting people from around the world and making new friends. English is our first language, so if you want to practice your English we would be happy to help you.

If you love horses and being outdoors, you will enjoy staying with us. Our horses are trained for Western style riding using natural horsemanship methods. ... more inside

We are mainly a Cattle Ranch and are at the initial stages of developing our full fledged farm raising pastured poultry, hens and pasture raised heritage pigs. We have 3 horses including large Clydesdales and Quarter Horses.

We are located minutes from Pinantan Lake. A small community located about 20 minutes out of Kamloops, BC. It is home to a general store, a resort, a small school and about 500 residents.
Our 600 acre farm is surrounded by crownland with a multitude of hiking and horseback riding trails. It is a beautiful area, with lake views, beautiful sunrises and sunsets. There is internet access and a 20 min drive from shops, theatre, beaches, malls, cafes, etc.
We are also located near 2 ski hills, Harper Mountain is 5 minutes away and Sun Peaks is approx 20 min away.

Currently it is my husband and I tending to the farm development. He has been farming for well over 20 years and is an expert in animal husbandry.

We are a gay male couple living on an almost 90 acre, off-grid land co-operative.
We have cellular / mobile service, and intermittent internet.
We produce our own power using a micro-hydro system which is currently generating 8 KW and is shared by us and the five other households on the land.
This land co-operative works together and plays together but is not a commune. We cultivate lifestyles of low-impact modern living in intentional community while living independently. We aim toward a lifestyle of voluntary simplicity.

We have a large community garden which is not certified organic, but we follow organic gardening principles and beliefs.

We focus on organic growing methods such as hugelculture and permaculture although we are always interested in learning about new ways to grow. We strive toward total food self-sufficiency, however - we are still a long way from that being a reality but close enough to see that it's nearly within our grasp!

If you like mountains, wildlife and exercise and you are interested in a true country experience this is the place to be. We would welcome any help and would love people to share their organic knowledge with us. No experience is necessary just enthusiasm and a love of the outdoors. Throughout the year we have a wide variety of tasks to do.
In March and April the cows are calving and we often complete some small building projects. In May we are preparing the fields for planting; there is ploughing, discing, seeding, picking rocks and setting up the irrigation system. We also plant the large vegetable garden in May and June. For the rest of the summer we are haying, moving irrigation pipes twice daily, building and fixing fences, gardening, hand pulling invasive weed species, and on checking the cattle, harvesting garlic, sometimes traveling to the Farmer's Market on saturdays
There are tasks for all skill levels and strengths so don't be afraid to join us.

Nice, clean accommodation in large house, food included in exchange for 25 hours per week work. Free WIFI, own set of rooms and bathroom.
Work consists of helping lambing (in spring) feeding and watering livestock, moving electric fencing, painting (inside if weather bad), misc. tidying in house and organizing barn yard, chicken coop, workshop, harvesting and weeding garden, etc.

We are looking for someone (female) who can help us a little bit in everything, is lively and outgoing. But the main work would be to look after our little Siyam.

We are very outgoing people, love to socialize and are multicultural.

You will have free accommodation and all meals for a couple of hours work a day.

Our proprerty with its views is super unique and the outdoor activities in and around Golden are endless in summers as well in winters.

Welcome to a beautiful pastoral acreage and home in the West Kootenays. surrounded by the Purcell and Selkirk mountains. adjacent to Kootenay Lake. The acreage is half treed and the remaining is home front, orchard, pasture and gardens. I only have a few chickens at this point. I farmed intensely for years and am now taking it easier. I actually would like to have some sheep. just don't feel like taking on more responsibilities without some added support. Ideally I would love to connect with a gentleman who would like to live here on a year round basis for the position of assistant and caretaker. He must speak English and be prepared to consent to a criminal record check. SO- work description is gardening, fencing, light carpentry, lawns, flower beds, pruning trees, harvesting food. non-smokers, only. only light or non alcohol consumption no drugs please. I ask for a responsible, sincere, joyful and conscientious person. any relevant skills is definitely preferred. I thin... more inside
