We live in a spacious, country home in a gorgeous, quiet area of Victoria one block from the ocean. We are a 10 minute drive from downtown or a 15 minute bus ride (bus stop located one block from our home). There are several beach access points to swim, kayak or relax, all within a few minutes walk. We moved into our home about 3 years ago and are currently establishing multiple food & flower gardens, building new food-growing structures, irrigation systems and converting our garage into a professional art studio. My husband is also planning to rebuild his motorcycle sometime (it took a beating from here to Chile!) We always have plenty to do, so often you can decide for yourself from our list of projects. We don't work on a strict schedule but more day by day as projects arise. Some days are long, some are short! Our helpers should be able to go with the flow!

This winter we are looking for a helper to mostly care for our boys while I get back ... more inside

Wow, exploring right outside our backdoor along side the Campbell River is a beautiful place to experience Spring and Vancouver Island's great outdoors!!! Although we live on a one acre town lot, our back yard is situated on a cliff over looking an accessible beautiful heritage river, with a nature park setting of ferns, douglas firs, maples and alder trees. You can often see deer, raccoons, bears and the silver backs of salmon and Steelhead fish jumping in the ebb and flow of the riverís pools. We have trail access to the river below, where you can enjoy listening to the sing song of many birds, tubing down the river/swimming in the heat of the summer, and trying your hand at casting for Steelhead fish. As well, our neighborhood is the access point to many scenic nature walking and biking trails. The 1st three photos are at our home and the others are nearby nearby trails and local vista... more inside

Hello wonderful Helpx community:-) We are a family of 5 living near Victoria on beautiful Vancouver Island. In the past, we have traveled extensively, but we just moved into our dream home, and now with small children we are feeling a need to travel vicariously through others and meet some fabulous people. We have met so many wonderful people through helpx!

Our new home has spectacular views, a hot tub and absolutely amazing hiking trails near by. Sooke is 13 km away, and Victoria is 30 km away. The surrounding area is fantastic - ocean beaches and lakes within a few km, many parks, and a great trail system. We have a resident owl who routinely serenades us. Bus service is available, but limited. Crispin drives into Victoria daily for work, so carpooling could be a option.

Our lovely guest room is very comfortable, and has views across the garden and into the surrounding forest. Laundry and Wifi are available. We would be also open to hosting a family with children. We... more inside

Update Sept 16 2017

Hello

I am looking for a solo female Helpx for a one or two week stay. At the moment I need help with cleaning my house and some light gardening work.

If you are interested please respond and let me know what your availability is. Thanks

Thanks for all the responses to my Helpx profile. I really do enjoy meeting people from all around the world and it is great to get some help around my property.

Summer has almost passed and the whether has been awesome. I have already hosted a few travelers this year and completed some of my projects. We have a small mixed herd of beef cattle, and raise purebred Border Cheviot sheep
Our meat is mostly sold locally through the Comox Valley Farmers market. We grow a big vegetable patch for our own consumption and put up enough second cut hay for our own livestock and have some extra to sell. Im looking for helpers to help around the yard, bit of painting, gardening and winter cleanup. The farm is located about 8 km from Courtenay on one of the main roads up the Island. We are close to Mt. Washington Alpine Resort and We have lots of space for camping and a few spare rooms that are available in our home depending on where our kids are working or traveling at the time. We have good healthy food.....most of it grown or raised here.
We are looking for short term people for a week or two, and we expect 4 hours of work a day 5 days a week in exchange for food and lodging.
We look forward to meeting new friends from all over the world.

I live on a northern gulf is. between Vancouver Is. and the west coast of B.C. My farm is located on a ridge overlooking a wetland reserve and Baynes sound facing Hornby Is. There is hiking, biking, kayaking, skiing in season, swimming and bird watching. Mt Washington is 1 hr away. I have two border collies and a parrot. Duties include gardening maintaining my chickens, some carpentry and chopping wood. It is small and rural and friendly. My house is constructed from recycled materials and at times referred to as Hippy Gothic. This is life in the slow lane, serene and natural beauty abounds. The summers are warm and dry. When the herring spawn in the spring, hundreds of sea lions, bald eagles and occasionally Orcas, can be seen. The swimming is great in the summer in the sea and the lakes. In the spring this is one of the best on the coast to see the Herring spawn and the hundreds of Sea lions, Eagles and seabirds all feeding on the fish. I am biased but this is one of the premie... more inside
