This magical, organic farm with amazing views of the Pacific Ocean Vancouver Island is incredibly inspirational. We enjoy our vegetable and herb gardens, goats, chickens, honey bees, livestock guardian dogs and many other wild creatures that visit us daily. This history here is rich: this was the location of the Saanich Peninsula's first schoolhouse and more recently is where Noël Richardson wrote her 4 famous cookbooks and contributed to CityFood Magazine for years while peering out over the spectacular gardens. Her husband, Andrew Yeomen, was also an author and amazing gardener. Together they created a very special place that at the time (1979 until 2014) required from them a significant leap of faith and subsequently plunged them into the world of organic farming. We (Brea, Todd and 2 children) couldn't be more honoured to be the guardians of this land. An adventure like theirs has been something that Brea has dreamed about since childhood, and for her the reality of living this ... more inside

Our place lies between the coast of Georgia Strait and Mt.Arrowsmith further to the west, 12 km north of Qualicum Beach. The 5.5 acres is home to 2 miniature donkeys, 2 dwarf goats, our Maremma dog, few chickens and 2 cats. We do not have any more alpacas and llamas which were mentioned in some of helpers' reviews.
It is our endeavor to be self sufficient and therefore we are developing an orchard, organic garden and we are also constantly improving pastures and landscape. There is always some light construction of farm buildings or house renovation available to handy individuals.
The work is varied and depends on the weather. Help is required approximately 28 hours/week. In winter months (November to February) approx. 50% of work will be indoor. Accommodation is in the house and meals are provided, eating with the family - our palate is variable, non-vegetarian but vegetarians are welcome. Smoking outdoor only, no indoor pets except visits by the cats. There is WiFi, DVDs, CDs, ... more inside

This is a 25 acre Sustainable Living Demonstration Site and Education Centre on beautiful farm setting. We are a park, farm, school, and residential community with food services and accommodation services available and hosting to almost 10K people per year. The space is created as a 'Commons' and is run mostly by volunteerism.

Personal ability to work in a team and group dynamic is essential. Emotional maturity to be part of a residential live/work situation a must. Incredible opportunity to meet and work with folks of every walk and talk and meet incredible teachers!

Currently we are doing finishing work on OUR whole site and would love some major help creating new food systems spaces in OUR garden. We are also full out working on natural building projects (cob, plaster, wood work, etc) and are especially looking for some folks with really great carpentry skills. And - lots of folks who are strong and able to work on a full out 'cob' team!!

We are a community farm made up of families and single people who are doing their utmost to live life fully and honestly. In our radical life of togetherness we are being healed of the separation that is so prevalent in today’s society. Come spend some time with us on our organic farm in the lee of Mount Washington, whether it be gardening, preparing meals, caring for animals, working in our Café in Courtenay, singing, dancing, sharing meals, doing construction, processing milk into yogurt and cheese, or sharing your heart among friends (just to name a few!). Always exciting, always social. Come for a day or to stay!

We are a 66 acre farm in Qualicum Beach, specializing in sustainably and ethically raised chicken, pork and grass fed beef. We also have horses, goats and a jersey milk cow. We are still in the initial set up phase and are looking for someone to help with the farm chores as well as building projects, gardening, firewood and general farm and garden work. We are full time farmers and have 5 children. For accommodation you would have a private room in a cute little mobile home about a 10 minute walk away from the main farm. We would need someone willing to help out for 30 hours per week for full room and board. We are located in the heart of one of the most beautiful areas on Vancouver island about 10 minutes from the ocean, lakes and some great hikes.

Wow, exploring right outside our backdoor along side the Campbell River is a beautiful place to experience Fall and Vancouver Island's great outdoors!!! Although we live on a one acre town lot, our back yard is situated on a cliff over looking an accessible beautiful heritage river, with a nature park setting of ferns, douglas firs, maples and alder trees. You can often see deer, raccoons, bears and the silver backs of salmon and Steelhead fish jumping in the ebb and flow of the river’s pools. We have trail access to the river below, where you can enjoy listening to the sing song of many birds, tubing down the river/swimming in the heat of the summer, and trying your hand at casting for Steelhead fish. As well, our neighborhood is the access point to many scenic nature walking and biking trails. The 1st three photos are at our home and the others are nearby nearby trails and local v... more inside
