Hello Friend! We are two families who operate a market farming business and a music centre. The property features a yurt, gardens, greenhouses, laying chickens and an orchard. It is situated at the edge of the forest, a 10 minute walk to a river where you can swim and sunbathe and explore miles of trails through the forest. Duties will primarily focus on the small market farming business (hand tools only) based here and on another farm 1 km away. You will learn about all aspects of small scale organic farming while living in a gorgeous peaceful setting 5 minute drive from a small town and 1 hour from the city (Victoria), with plenty of recreational opportunities nearby (hiking, mountain biking, surfing, camping, fishing).

THIS SPRING 2018 we open our house and we welcome you.

This magical, organic farm with amazing views of the Pacific Ocean Vancouver Island†is incredibly inspirational.†We enjoy our vegetable and herb gardens, goats, chickens, honey bees, livestock guardian dogs and many other wild creatures that visit us daily.†This history here is rich: this was the location of the Saanich Peninsula's first schoolhouse and more recently is where NoŽl Richardson wrote her 4 famous cookbooks and contributed to CityFood Magazine for years while peering out over the spectacular gardens. Her husband, Andrew Yeomen, was also an author and amazing gardener. Together they created a very special place that at the time (1979 until 2014) required from them a significant leap of faith and subsequently plunged them into the world of organic farming. We (Brea, Todd and 2†children) couldn't be more honoured to be the guardians of this land.†An adventure like theirs has been something that Brea has dreamed about since childhood, and for her the reality of living this ... more inside

Hello and Welcome to our Farm! We are people of integrity trying to live our lives with purpose, meaning and love. We have an enchanting 14 Acre Farm that we are trying to turn into more of a Healing Haven then it already is. We are a working farm; we have chickens for eggs, goats for milk, as well as a garden and dear cows. We live with our animals and our friends in respect. We are looking for help building up more of what will help us carry out our life missions. We hope to build and improve the outbuildings we have. We also hope to expand our garden and our pastures for our animals. And one day we want to create a space or covered gazebo by our creek for quiet meditation and maybe, one fine day, we want to build a Sauna! In return for your skills we will teach you how to milk, and we would like to teach you a lot about animal care in general (we adore talking about our animals). Also, depending on the season, we can teach canning and preserving, baking, bread making, et... more inside

You can often see deer, raccoons, bears and the silver backs of salmon and Steelhead fish jumping in the ebb and flow of the riverís pools. Hi, we are looking for helpers as our Mason Bee season is rapidly approaching. Please read on!

Our location:

Located in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, we are Mason Bee Keepers and non-certified organic gardeners living on an urban lot bordering a salmon bearing creek and forest. Our shade garden has native plants that attract birds and bees. Sunnier spots grow fruit trees and berries in raised beds. We garden to create soil, shade and habitat for the critters as well as nourishment for our ourselves.

What we can offer you:
We raise Mason Bees, and sell live cocoons and Bee houses each spring at the Farmers Market. Mason Bees are peaceful, docile, don't sting and are native to their local habitat. If you are interested in learning about gardening and landscaping with wild pollinators, youíll have opportunities to ask, observe, help and learn.

We are getting ready for our farmer's market season , and there is much to do around the garden and house. Winter and s... more inside

My small farm is located on the Somass River in Port Alberni. I have a flock of 14 sheep and 24 lambs. I also raise organic produce and maintain large gardens. If you want to experience sheep husbandry and the daily care of sheep and everyday life on an farm this is a great place. The lambs are usually born in February. The work on the farm is varied, and often involves cleaning barns, helping with the animals and weeding in the garden. Work in the garden and yard starts in the spring.

There are a lot of outdoor activities in this area. Hiking, kayaking, bicycling, with the West Coast Trail,Pacific Rim National Park, Tofino & Ucluelet are only an hour and half drive away. Mt Washington for skiing, snowboarding is also close by. I am on a river so swimming and tubing in the summer is a must. Victoria is only a few hours drive.
I have a room available for a single or a couple. Meals are shared when possible. I enjoy workers who can follow directions, be self motivated and can w... more inside
