Wow, exploring right outside our backdoor along side the Campbell River is a beautiful place to experience Spring and Vancouver Island's great outdoors!!! Although we live on a one acre town lot, our back yard is situated on a cliff over looking an accessible beautiful heritage river, with a nature park setting of ferns, douglas firs, maples and alder trees. You can often see deer, raccoons, bears and the silver backs of salmon and Steelhead fish jumping in the ebb and flow of the riverís pools. We have trail access to the river below, where you can enjoy listening to the sing song of many birds, tubing down the river/swimming in the heat of the summer, and trying your hand at casting for Steelhead fish. As well, our neighborhood is the access point to many scenic nature walking and biking trails. The 1st three photos are at our home and the others are nearby nearby trails and local vistas.

Deer and neighbors walk the paths outside of my window, through tall grasses, a fringe of trees, and along the Tsolumn River, recently restored to life as a salmon-bearing stream through the diligent efforts of volunteers in Vancouver Islandís amazing Comox Valley. The natural meadow between the River and I is maintained by a small community of people who a clear invasive species, swim in the river, and celebrate one anotherís life events.

I need mature helpers with an excellent work ethic who are curious about sustainable building and living, and appreciative of technologies involved. A variety of skills would be welcome, but specific building trades are not necessary. If you are able to color the siding with a paintbrush, pull invasive weeds on the meadow, stack firewood, or perhaps use an power drill tool then I can put you to work. There may be opportunities to learn about environmental restoration, sustainable building, managing wood for responsible heating, or other land-b... more inside

We are a husband and wife team on our busy farm where we grow a lot of greens, herbs, and many vegetables, that we sell at our farm store, farmers markets, and to restaurants. We follow organic and bio-dynamic growing standards. We have 50 chickens, 10 muscovy ducks, and one cat. We have no children.
We also have a thriving sea salt business, where we actually make sea salt from the ocean water. We have a growing herb and spice business too. We work in our commercial kitchen to produce these products. We would prefer couples who could help out in the gardens, harvesting, weeding, collecting eggs, feeding and watering the birds, helping with labeling the packaging, washing produce for sale, perhaps you want to help at the farmers markets. There are city buses that go by the farm aprox. 4 times per day. You can use them to go to Courtenay or Campbell River. Welcome to our historic herb farm. This magical place is incredibly inspirational, and we (Brea and Todd and 2 young children and our fun-loving Farm Manager, Marly from Montreal) couldn't be more honoured to be the new guardians of this land. This history here is rich Ė this is after all rumoured to be the location of Saanichtonís first schoolhouse and more recently is where Noel Richardson wrote her 4 famous cookbooks and contributed to CityFood Magazine for years while peering out over the spectacular gardens. Her husband, Andrew Yeomen, was also an author and amazing gardener. Together they created a very special place that at the time (1979 until 2014) required from them a significant leap of faith and subsequently plunged them into the world of organic farming. An adventure like theirs has been something that Brea has dreamed about since childhood, and for her the reality of living this dream is much sweeter then she could ever have imagined. We are a couple that live on a beautiful property right by the Sooke Hills forests halfway between Sooke and Victoria. Easy to take off for hikes into the forest or go for a swim right from our home. Victoria is approx. 45 minutes away by bus from our house so its easy to take a bus into Victoria to see the sights. In the other direction, the old growth forests and beaches of the west coast of the island are accessible.

We are part of a farming co-operative with 4 other families. Our co-operative leases a 12 acre piece of farmland 3 km away. We all work together with the goal of growing all of our vegetables for the year. Spring and fall are the busy times at the farm with planting and harvesting.
Other work could include household and yard chores including: cleaning, weeding, splitting firewood and minor repairs.Scott is a woodworker and there are lots of wood in the yard that needs sorting etc. We ask for an average of 5 hours/day for 5 days a week of work from ea... more inside

This is a 25 acre Sustainable Living Demonstration Site and Education Centre on beautiful farm setting. We are a park, farm, school, and residential community with food services and accommodation services available and hosting to almost 10K people per year. The space is created as a 'Commons' and is run mostly by volunteerism.

Personal ability to work in a team and group dynamic is essential. Emotional maturity to be part of a residential live/work situation a must. Incredible opportunity to meet and work with folks of every walk and talk and meet incredible teachers!

Currently we are doing finishing work on OUR whole site and would love some major help creating new food systems spaces in OUR garden. We are also full out working on natural building projects (cob, plaster, wood work, etc) and are especially looking for some folks with really great carpentry skills. And - lots of folks who are strong and able to work on a full out 'cob' team!!
