We operate a leather craft activity. We are elderly and do this craft as a past time. We started it over 40 years ago. We produce some items and sell at a few fairs each year. We enjoy teaching our craft to interested people. We are retired teachers and will help with English lessons. People will have an opportunity to work with others at the local food bank. Kamloops is a city of approx. 85000. It has a university and a wonderful athletic facility. We have many references in couch surfing. In exchange, we will teach some leather craft and English. No smoking please. My wife will teach drumming.

Disdero Ranch is in the scenic North Thompson valley 40 minutes from Kamloops, BC. I produce hay, raise Romney and Corriedale wool specialty sheep, Angora goats, Alpacas and Great Pyrenees dogs. I also have a Border Collie and a Jack Russell who thinks hes a Pyrenees.
I require help with general ranch chores, herd health, on going wool prep and processing, carpentry projects and general help in the kitchen and home.
Hoping to have some Pyrenees pups this winter....We have already started having goat kids but the majority of babies born will start mid February so if you want to learn about sheep and goats it's a great time to gain a lot of knowledge and experience.
The ranch property borders on the North Thompson River which has its own beach and fishing if you like and is 4 hours from Vancouver. I am located within an hour from Sun Peaks, the 2nd largest ski resort in Canada, one hour from Wells Gray Park and 4 hours from Jasper.

Thanks Sarah, Madeline, Laura and Florian for your help in 2017.We have help booked with lambing Feb 2018 but are open after that.

We enjoy meeting and working with helpers from different countries and we try to make your stay work for both of us. Although we are not vegetarians or other specialty diets we have no problem hosting one. One family member is gluten free.

Seasonally we need assistance with with fencing, firewood cutting, the garden, harrowing, feeding livestock, building and building maintenance and general farm labour. No experience necessary but must have a willing attitude and be comfortable around animals. Someone with Carpentry skills is always helpful. This year carpentry projects include rebuilding the well house and a new sheep lambing jug and sawdust storage.

We are located on a small farm 4 km north of Lumby and 30 minutes east of Vernon BC, with sheep, laying chickens, hay and sometimes meat birds. We also have some horses and a large organic garde... more inside
