We are an off grid, eco-sustainable organic farmstead, that incorporates organic sustainable agroecology, permaculture, agroforestry, and regenerative agriculture in order to live within the means/carrying capacity of the land and within the earth fair share ecofootprint, so that we can responsibly co- create/steward a more fair, peaceful, sustainable, and healthy planet. We have to live a fair, sustainable and healthy lifestyle if we want to see the changes we wish to see in the world. We can't use destructive means to create construction ends; such ends can't be some distant goal that we rhetorically strive for, but the means by which we arrive. We live more simply so others (human and non human species) can simply live. Unless we fairly share the Earth (25 billion productive acres/7 billion people=3.5 acres, to provide all of our needs (food, fiber, fertilizer, fodder, fuel, fencing, fineries, farm house, pharmacy, fun . . .) , there can never be, like our holiday cards say, "Pea...

*****WE ARE FULL THROUGH THE SUMMER****
Aloha!
Currently we do not host single/individuals. We host couples sharing a room and queen size bed. Living space is a shared 2 bedroom house and a private studio. The house has living & dining area, kitchen with fridge and stove. The studio has a small kitchen with fridge & stove (both mini) and a semi enclosed living space.
We are a couple in our 40's that love our farm and the Big Island. We enjoy meeting new people and learning about different cultures.
The farm is 3 acres of macadamia nuts, 1 acre of coffee, a mid-size aquaponic system (still in progress) various fruit and some chickens. Ongoing needs are pruning, weed-whacking, beautifying, planting, weeding and keeping the jungle at bay. Daily equipment use of chain saw, back pack blower, weed wacker. There are various construction projects to take on so basic framing/plumbing/electrical are great. No drugs/smoking. 15 hrs/wk. You will need to provide your own food. When...

In Hawaii we have a word, "Ohana". Now the literal meaning of Ohana is family. The way it is often used is to describe a guest house or spare bedroom, because that is where your Ohana would stay. So at The Terraces we try to provide both. A place to rest your head and a place where you feel at home. The Terraces is a place where you are treated as Ohana. We are glad to have you on the island, and believe that most businesses try to color your Hawaii experience one way or another. The point of our farm, is that we don't. Hawaii is a beautiful place. Where you can have fun all day, and always come back to our Ohana and yours.
This is a educational and sustainable farm. Located on the south side of Hawaii's Big Island. We specialize in every thing from fresh food, to the Hawaii experience. But every thing we do here we do with love, a smile, and the Aloha spirit.
This is where small things matter, so we choose wisely.
We are a new and developing two acre, non-certified organic...

Bed and Breakfast on 3.24 hectares. Beautiful tropical setting. We are looking for someone who will volunteer 6 hours per day, 5 days per week and we will volunteer a place to stay and food. Someone who is willing to help and learn the day to day workings of a bed and breakfast: help maintain a clean kitchen, preparing breakfast, cleaning, making up rooms, washing and drying beddings/towels, keeping the outside swept, washing off sidewalks and watering outside plants. Suggested length of stay is 3 months or longer with mutual agreement. We have a private room with private entry open for use with a shared bath. We would need the cooperation of anyone staying in this room to keep all levels of noise to a minimum for the respect to the other guests in rooms nearby, and to be very courteous and well mannered when a guest might be encountered. Gentle World's year-round headquarters is on The Big Island of Hawaii, where we welcome guests as well as WWOOFers. North Kohala is a beautiful area, with clean air and lovely surrounding countryside. We have a large vegan-organic garden where we grow much of our own food, teach others how to do the same, and offer free cooking classes, consultations and meals to those interested in transitioning to a healthier, more peaceful way of living.
We also own 450 acres of magnificent New Zealand countryside, which we call Shangri-La, where we have been hosting wwoofers for the past 6-7 years. The land is situated in a private valley, with two pristine rivers. Each summer season (from November to May) we welcome WWOOFers who are willing to help us lift Shangri-la up to its name, which includes the planting and maintainance of hundreds of fruit trees, lots of flower gardens and several veganic vegetable gardens.
In 1979, Gentle World became incorporated as a nonprofit educational organ...

*Aloha*
We have found helpers for early summer. Thank you for your interest!
Details: We would ask you to put approximately 20 hrs/week of work.
In return, we will provide one vegan meal for every 4hrs you worked, roomy tent (10'x12') on a platform with an outdoor kitchenette, shared hot outdoor shower, and an outhouse.
We live on the off-grid, 3-acre jungle in Kapoho on the eastern tip of the Big Island of Hawaii. We just moved to this land last year and are building our sustainable & Permaculture homestead. We are close to lava tide pools, volcano-heated natural warm ponds, snorkeling, surfing, lava hikes, and much more! The closest town is Pahoa, which is a 15-min drive.
If you love nature, outdoors, rural, simple/sustainable living, and a healthy lifestyle, this area is perfect for you!
We have a facebook page, so please check it out for more pictures (link above).
Please email us if you're interested and/or for more information.
*Thank you*...
