I am an artist living off the grid with my dog Lily and 3 cats. We have just installed a state of the art solar system, so now I can move forward hosting guests. I love nature, and the peacefulness of living in the forest.

Right now I'm looking for help for December/January. Tasks include completing a stream bank restoration project, forestry, gardening/landscaping, and some minor construction work.

BEFORE YOU REPLY PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE PROFILE CAREFULLY.

LOCATION
We're located in Southern Oregon near the California border, 5 miles from the town of Williams, near Grayback Mountain We're off-the-grid, so we generate our own power with a state of the art solar system. The property is in a riparian area (i.e., near water) at the base of the Siskyou Mountains where two major creeks come together (William and Bill creek). It's only a short distance to the Pacific Crest Trail, and about 2 hours to the Oregon coast and redwoods. This property is--in my opinion-- one of th... more inside

Wanted a helper to live in a warm winter wonderland as nanny/farm helper.

Why you want to come here.

Santa Barbara is one of the most beautiful locales in the world with a very moderate winter. No snow or frost. Near some of the world best surfing at Rincon Beach. Our property is a 12-acre Organic ranch with ducks, rabbits, goats, horses, dogs and we have a few ideas of animals to add this year. Also I am an expert beekeeper with plenty of my own hives and many clients that I assist. For housing we have a self-contained gypsy wagon style tiny house.

What I am looking for.

Our family, my wife and I and a 11 month old need an extra set of hands. We need help with cooking, cleaning and watching our little one. The animals need to get feed and the winter garden needs to get planted. My tree nursery has missed me. I also need a hand with the bees from inspections to rescues. Ideal candidate would have experience with babies and a desire to learn and experience perm... more inside

Doe Bay is a rustic resort and retreat center in the San Juan Islands in Washington State. Located on 35 acres of coastal property on Orcas Island, the Doe Bay community serves as the cultural and social hub of the Eastern side of the island. We operate a bourgeoning seed to table program from our on-site garden that provides many of the ingredients for the vegetarian/pescatarian menu served at the Doe Bay Cafe. The cafe garners a reputation in the region for delicious seasonal and local fare and is a unique gathering place for local islanders, folks from the Pacific Northwest, and guests from around the U.S. and the world. In addition to the garden and cafe, Doe Bay is perhaps most famously known for its hot tubs and sauna. These relaxing amenities overlook Otter Cove and provide bathers a unique view of the San Juan Islands and the Puget Sound. Doe Bay also offers on-site yoga classes, therapeutic massage, and a unique library open to staff and guests. As a Doe Bay work tra... more inside

"Resident volunteers" from HelpX and Wwoof have been a Godsend to our non-profit working ranch serving children and animals on our 15 acre ranch. When we lost our site development funding the day after 9-11, we thought the ranch would go under. But the children who had been coming to the ranch during after school programs and summer camps refused to let that happen. They gave up their fun time on the ranch riding horses and driving go-carts to work every minute they could to keep the ranch going. They hand dug fence posts, built shelters for the animals and did whatever was needed.

In as much as they loved the ranch, they missed their fun times on the ranch until we got our first "resident volunteer" from Wwoof and more followed who also came from HelpX.

Once we signed up with HelpX and Wwoof, the ranch has continually progressed forward thanks to some wonderful help from around the world.

The kids are so very grateful for all who have come and who have left them with wo... more inside

5 acres with beach access on Lopez Island next to Shark Reef Sanctuary (a park where Sea Lions frolic with many small beach coves and amazing views). I am coming from Hawaii and getting to work on this mostly raw land. I envision putting in gardens (organic / permaculture) and orchards and improving places for myself and guests/helpers/wwoofers etc. to stay (as of this writing just an outhouse, camper and camping spots), while leaving some of the land in it's natural state. Gardeners, treehouse builders, cobb / earth / pole / stick builders wanted. Someone is bringing by a zipline - so if you know how to install it - come on by. This is a beautiful area, however we will be roughing it, staying in an airstream, a camper or a tent until more stylie digs are created...think witnessing the birth or early years of this farm - here's your chance to help it grow!

Wx doesn't seem to want me to post more pics, but this is heavily wooded land (see pic of outhouse)

Since I am new ... more inside
