Our homestead is 3.5 acres located in Santa Barbara County's beautiful wine country. We are in the small town of Santa Ynez which is approx. 30 miles from Santa Barbara. We have owned our property for four years. We would love to be self-sufficient one day. We have 30some chickens, 2 goats 3 turkeys, 1 tortoise, 6 geese, 3 horses, 2 miniature horses and 4 dogs. We love our fresh organic eggs and we sell some of the extras in the spring and summer when the girls are busiest. The animals are all our pets and many are rescues. They bring us so much joy and laughter.

Also looking for a strong guy that knows construction hopefully some framing. We need to repair the workshop as well as make a small insulated 10x12 barn for the miniature horses before it starts getting cold.

Update: In the spring, we had our first volunteer week and had 8 volunteers at the same time. It proved to be a wonderful experience as everyone could work together, explore the region together, and have fun together at night. We are planning a second one for September 23-September 30. If you are interested, please let us know. It should be fun and educational!

Hi, we are three families living on a small farm/ranch here near the coast in Northern California.
The property is beautiful and situated in a rural setting one block from Arcata city limits. So we get good country and ease of access to town. You can ride your bike to town in 10 minutes.
We have plenty of beautiful space to pitch a tent, and we have a kitchen and bathroom facility to use.
Be aware that there are three families with young children living on the property, this is not a party ranch.
We love good community but we also love our good sleep.

At our farm here in the Coachella Valley we grow 5 varieties of dates; Medjool, Barhi, Khadrawi, Halawi & Zahidi....and we also have young plantings of mango, temple orange, moringa, Peruvian apple cactus and navel orange.

Tasks include: irrigation, pruning, picking, fertilizing, pollination, clean-up, trenching, house cleaning, road repair. Tile setters & concrete workers are appreciated here, and so are nomadic carpenters or anyone with experience using ropes and equipment for rock climbing since I need to adapt this skill on my tall palm trees. We clean our soaking pools regularly. We could use someone who knows how to run a sewing machine, because our date bags need repairing.
My hot springs is located in a very remote setting in the Coachella Valley of the southern California desert about 2 hours and 30 minutes from Los Angeles, or 50 miles southeast of Palm Springs, just off highway 111, in the morning shadow of the Chocolate Mountains, overlooking the middle of the Salto... more inside

Currently we need help gardening, and clearing out an old garden and preparing it to extend the orchard. We also need some help building a small goat barn and a cob cabin. We are an older couple, who also have my mother as a family member, grandma is awesome ;) we need light farm work preformed. We only have work and accommodations for a few days and no long term helpers. We have a Small travel trailer for accommodation, and in summer you may pitch a tent if you like sleeping under the stars. Our farm also consists of several food plots, cross fenced and we have dairy and angora goats, a small herd and we milk and make cheese and such from the milk, so help with milking and cleaning the barn would also be appreciated. We have two Anatolian Shepherd/Pyrenees mix livestock guardian dogs and a 23year old barn cat. We have an alaska mill and also want to mill wood and build, help with that would be fabulous. We also have a small orchard that needs tending, apple trees, pear, nectar... more inside

Belgian/American family with 13 year old bilingual [Dutch/English] daughter. Interested in offering lodging, food, a US SIM card for your phone with data, text and US calling. You can stay from as little as four weeks up to a maximum of 12 weeks as part of your American experience. The next time period we are considering is end of October to end of January or some portion of that.
You must be a native Dutch speaker or speak French well. No smokers (even occasionally smokers). What are we looking for? Other than one or both of the language requirements, we are looking for someone who enjoys learning about different cultures and perspectives [open minded], who is optimistic [looking forward to the future], and has a sense of gratitude for the opportunities they have and have had and for life in general. We also interview people who are already in Southern California for openings, particularly closer to our time of need. We have a 50 acre farm, mostly organic. We have horses, cows, kunekune pigs, rabbits, chickens, turkeys, ducks and geese. In addition to breeding horses, We run a hay business and a sawmill. Our equipment is mostly vintage, no electronics. We are currently building outbuildings, using as much of our milled wood as possible, putting up fences and reconditioning our fields.
We are offering a work exchange for 1 week to 4 months, 5 hours per day, one day off a week. We are flexible with times and days. The kind of work depends on your interests, for example, working with the horses, working in the garden/ orchard, helping with the sawmill, driving a tractor, helping with equipment maintenance and repair.

RIGHT NOW I'M LOOKING FOR SOMEBODY TO START HELPING ME 2018! I'M ALSO PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME.
Vegan and vegetarian friendly!

Hi my name is Bruce.
I'm wondering if you would be interested in helping someone like myself. By the previous sentence I mean someone who is charming, wonderful, engaging, intelligent and shy. I broke my neck when I was 18 years old and have been in a wheelchair ever since. After breaking my neck I went back to school and received a couple of degrees. I'm looking for someone who is energetic, intelligent and ready to take on a challenge. It's important to me that whomever I choose has good sense humor and can understand sarcasm. I'm also a liberal and I am concerned about politics along with many other things. If you'd like to know more about me and what assisting me entails I would be happy to provide you with that information :) by the way I live 28 miles East of San Francisco in a town called Walnut Creek. The San Franci... more inside
