I am an artist living off the grid with my dog Lily and 3 cats. We have just installed a state of the art solar system, so now I can move forward hosting guests. I love nature, and the peacefulness of living in the forest.

Right now I'm looking for help, starting the beginning of June. Those of you who have contacted in the past month please check in again. Please know that you will get a response as soon as I can get back to you.

The weather is mild in our area, so it is easy to work all winter.

Tasks include completing a stream bank restoration project, permaculture design, forestry, gardening/landscaping, and some minor construction work.

BEFORE YOU REPLY PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE PROFILE CAREFULLY.

LOCATION
We're located in Southern Oregon near the California border, 5 miles from the town of Williams, near Grayback Mountain We're off-the-grid, so we generate our own power with a state of the art solar system. The property is in a riparian area (i.e., near wa... more inside

"Resident volunteers" from HelpX and Wwoof have been a Godsend to our non-profit working ranch serving children and animals on our 15 acre ranch. When we lost our site development funding the day after 9-11, we thought the ranch would go under. But the children who had been coming to the ranch during after school programs and summer camps refused to let that happen. They gave up their fun time on the ranch riding horses and driving go-carts to work every minute they could to keep the ranch going. They hand dug fence posts, built shelters for the animals and did whatever was needed.

In as much as they loved the ranch, they missed their fun times on the ranch until we got our first "resident volunteer" from Wwoof and more followed who also came from HelpX.

Once we signed up with HelpX and Wwoof, the ranch has continually progressed forward thanks to some wonderful help from around the world.

The kids are so very grateful for all who have come and who have left them with wo... more inside

Good Day!

If you are interested in joining the team, READ EVERYTHING BEFORE REPLYING:

If you have worked / stayed in a good hostel, you already know it's like the best parts of college, without the responsibility & with a more international crowd.

You stay for free, and included FREE EVERY DAY: All-You-Can-Make Pancake Breakfast, WIFI, parking, coffee, tea, lockers, luggage storage, laundry, movies, book exchange & most nightly activities.

We get together every night at the outside table with drinks and music, so it is easy to make friends with staff and guests.

A solo female volunteer told us to write on here, it is safe and fun and you will love it probably more solo than if you came with a friend, like she did!

This is a fun city, with more to do than most people expect.

Our past & current staff often stay longer than ... more inside

We are an off the grid homestead. We produce much of our own food, with organic, biodynamic garden, dairy goats and chickens. We have two dogs and a cat. We are located in a redwood forest, 7 miles inland from the coast on a ridgetop. Karl works from home with some travel as a meeting consultant and Melinda is an acupuncturist with a clinic located about 20 minutes away at Sea Ranch.
Our interests are Taoist meditation and Tai Chi practices, cooking everything fresh ideally from our garden, goats, chickens and other local sources, nature, our animals. Basically, our way of life is how we spend our time.

In addition to short helpx stays, we are now also looking for individuals or couples who have farming or carpentry experience for stays of 6 months or longer. In this case there would be some wages in combination with a place to live in exchange for work. The terms of this agreement would be negotiable depending upon skills of the individuals.
