We've rescued our 1889 house from the derelict building list and now live in a quite comfortable but not quite finished home. There is lots to be done still and depending on the length of time you are here and your skill set, we'll try to find something that you can enjoy or feel a sense of contribution doing.

We would enjoy help with painting the exterior of our house this summer. We've removed all lead paint and primed walls and exterior siding. Painting experience is a plus, but we also would consider someone with a steady hand, attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn. We would also like to do some landscaping and always have a big garden. Given the size of the house, there is always something that needs done, be it cleaning up after a meal, emptying the dish drain and dish washer, mopping the kitchen floor or vacuuming…

Our household includes our family of three and a housemate who is a finished carpenter. We have a dog, cat, 6 chickens and a big garden. We ... more inside

Small ranch owned by Kiwi's. We live in beautiful central California wine country and are looking for keen travellers who can help us get things up to scratch including general ranch hand work.

Come and say hello to Munns, Bentley and Fancy the horses as well as Oreo the Llama, Wilma the pig, Lady the goat and Rocky the donkey. The Texas longhorns pretty much take care of themselves.

The chickens, along with D'for (German Shepherd) and Rocket (Yorkshire Terrier) our dogs are waiting to meet new people to help them make our place look great after years of neglect before we took residence.

If you're handy with a hammer then we're a good match!

**Winter/Fall is pretty full up - but we have a few short stays available in November or December**

We are a family of 3 living in 3 bedroom house just outside Portland, Oregon and really enjoy the exchange of culture when meeting new travelers or friends.

Have started a bit of an urban homestead on our quarter-acre lot - 12 raised bed vegetable gardens, blueberry/raspberries, fig trees etc. Through a local “bee-share” we recently added a hive to our property this spring. We have taken on a new challenge of doing some “refreshing” both outside and inside the house that we would love your help with.

Someone with general handyman skills will be able to help with the house - general carpentry and finish woodworking, interior and exterior paint prep work and application or maybe you like to craft in the kitchen. If you are more of an outside person or have green thumb - help with gardening, brush clearing or landscaping would be ideal. We would be happy to develop a "work plan"... more inside

I am a Mom with a teenage son, and two sweet cats, looking for help with cooking and cleaning while I homeschool my son and work on rebuilding my health. Our whole home is a 560 square foot studio so your living space would be a futon on the floor by the couch that gets put away during the day. There is lots of outdoor space, however, so it rarely feels cramped. Southern California weather is perfect for indoor/outdoor living.

We live on top of a hill with spectacular sunrise and sunset views and ocean breezes. We are less than 6 miles in from the ocean.

We have a small new garden here producing more and more food each season :) We eat from our garden, from local natural food stores, and from the weekly farmer's markets. Food is included in your stay.

In trade for staying here and food, I ask about 22 hours a week of work keeping our indoor and outdoor space clean and neat, and cooking meals. It is a small enough space that cleaning is not too time consuming. We are... more inside

Our Ranch and Bee Business:
Our family runs a small permaculture ranch and bee business just outside of Santa Barbra. We work 7+ hours a day with a day of rest on Sunday. The kitchen is open for making your own breakfast and lunch. Dinner we eat family style with me, Nick, my Wife Rachel, young daughter Sarah, our nanny Crystal, and full time farm hand Mark. You’ll stay in our repurposed storage container, a little woofer cabin by the apiary. We installed a great grey-water shower that waters our small banana forest, and we have a portapotty. If your interested in building us a compost toilet, lets do it! Beekeeping is over 50% of our farming endeavors, including bee rescues depending on the time of year. I personally care for over 50 hives and teach beginner beekeeping classes throughout the year. You can count on working with bees for a lot of your stay. Most days will include an informal lesson on one of the following topics of self reliance: beekeeping, goats for brush and dair... more inside
