Hello Everyone,

After a too long time away, my son, Joseph, and I, Nancy...are pleased to offer our home stay here in Southern California.

What we offer is...your own room, all food, great conversation, close proximity to the beaches, mountains and Los Angeles.

What we need in return is light housekeeping, gardening, cooking (my recipes or your own specialties), and dog walking.

Nancy just had knee surgery, so to see these duties fulfilled will garner you effusive praise and a grin from ear to ear.

As always, this is not the place to come if you wish to learn a new skill or do heavy labor...we are more of a cultural exchange opportunity.

We look forward to hearing from you and will reply promptly to all inquiries.

Sincerely,
Nancy, Joseph, and the doggies...(Raleigh, Poppy and Peter Lorre)

House & projects

We bought our house last year needing a lot of work: painting, carpentry, landscaping, etc. At present, five house-mates share the house. We are a little "family of friends" ranging in age from 22 to 60...it's a fun group.

We also have 5 chickens, a rooster and a spoiled-rotten border collie.

We had a great experience this summer with several HelpXers working on many exterior projects. Right now, I'm looking for one person who would like to help in the month of October doing some interior cleaning and painting. Anyone with special skills (such as plumbing or carpentry) will be especially appreciated.

We're a lively bunch of easy-going people who laugh a lot...and we're happy to host enthusiastic workers regardless of your levels of expertise!

Food, accommodation and locale

The city of Seattle is reachable by bus and in the North Bend area, there are many outdoor activities - hiking, kayaking, biking, etc. During the winter, there are also skiing a... more inside

Mountainside farm close to Yosemite National Park with 100 mile views. It's complete solitude here that hundreds of millions of people have seen.
I have Queensland Heeler dogs, raise chickens for eggs, grow fruit trees, veggies, herbs, spices and medicinal plants. I take volunteers year round.
I have lived in the Yosemite area since 1985, I married into the Yosemite Indian Tribe and have Yosemite Indian children. Yosemite is a big part of my life and my farm. We have a living culture that is year round and I regularly take my volunteers to the ceremonies.

PLEASE! Click on all 3 website links and read my Couchsurfing profile and binding references.

To see my list of YouTube video references from some of my farm and volunteers click on my 1st YouTube link.
The 2nd YouTube link is my whole channel.

Autumn is here on Orcas Island, Washington State, in the San Juan Island Archipelago, with foggy dew and golden light. I need helpers as the house is finished, and we are painting and cleaning up construction. Please come and enjoy this place, convenient to town and beach. The plumbing is complete, new windows are going in and the basement is available to sleep on mattresses - no camping necessary.
My cabin was joined by a big house floated by barge from Seattle. Then the foundation and first floor were built under it. We need helpers for one to six weeks to help us finish sheetrock and trim inside the house, scrape, prime, and paint the old cedar shingle siding, set up organic gardens. Work is five hours from 8:30-1:30pm. Afternoons are free. Town is a 15 minute walk. Biking, kayaking, swimming, hiking, or camping in Moran State Park are all good possibilities. We are one block from the public beach, and have beautiful sunset views. We are 1 mile from Eastsound. Look forward t... more inside

This is a 6.75 acre farm of all sorts of exotic tropical fruit trees and ordinary fruit trees and many vegetables and exotic flowers and macadamia nuts and bamboos and special grasses. We grow white sapotes, cherimoyas, avocados, tropical guavas, oranges, apples, peaches, nectarines, loquats and mulberries, etc. We are raising chickens and worms. We are always building new things for the farm and making new gardens and doing maintenance on the farm. The building of things often involves welding.

It is warm and sunny all year around, with what little rain we get coming usually between November and March. The farm is always frost free. It is pretty hot in the middle of the day in the summer (can have days in 80's and 90's at anytime of the year), so working then is better in the mornings or late afternoons. The farm is steep in places so one must be a bit careful and wear work shoes and we do not take obese volunteers.

Our minimum stay is a month. We are looking for som... more inside

At our farm here in the Coachella Valley we grow 5 varieties of dates; Medjool, Barhi, Khadrawi, Halawi & Zahidi.....and we also have young plantings of mango, jujube, sapodilla, guava, mulberry, temple orange, lemon, kei apple, etc.

Tasks include: irrigation, pruning, picking, fertilizing, pollination, clean-up, trenching, house cleaning, road repair. Tile setters & concrete workers are appreciated here, and so are nomadic carpenters. We clean our soaking pools regularly.
My hot springs is located in a very remote setting in the Coachella Valley of the southern California desert about 2 hours and 30 minutes from Los Angeles, or 50 miles southeast of Palm Springs, just off highway 111, in the morning shadow of the Chocolate Mountains, overlooking the middle of the Salton Sea, with the warmest winter climate in the western U.S.A.

No pets but plenty of wild creatures about; deer, bighorn sheep, owls, hawks, bobcats, coyotes, fox, turtles and fish in the canals, lizards, rabb... more inside

Doe Bay is a rustic resort and retreat center in the San Juan Islands in Washington State. Located on 35 acres of coastal property on Orcas Island, the Doe Bay community serves as the cultural and social hub of the Eastern side of the island. We operate a bourgeoning seed to table program from our on-site garden that provides many of the ingredients for the vegetarian/pescatarian menu served at the Doe Bay Cafe. The cafe garners a reputation in the region for delicious seasonal and local fare and is a unique gathering place for local islanders, folks from the Pacific Northwest, and guests from around the U.S. and the world. In addition to the garden and cafe, Doe Bay is perhaps most famously known for its hot tubs and sauna. These relaxing amenities overlook Otter Cove and provide bathers a unique view of the San Juan Islands and the Puget Sound. Doe Bay also offers on-site yoga classes, therapeutic massage, and a unique library open to staff and guests. As a Doe Bay work tra... more inside
