We are a Jewish am ha' aretz family on a small organic (non-certified) farmstead in the foothills of the Rocky mountains in north-central Idaho. We are near the Clearwater River and the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. We have a large vegetable garden and raise, goats, pigeons, chickens, ducks, turkeys, and our most special crop, and the reason we live the simple life we do, is our children.
Our goal is to raise our family in a healthy, country, close to the earth kind of way. Animals, gardening, baking, making cheese, herbal remedies, natural food preservation, bio-dynamic gardening methods....This takes so much time and effort, but it is so much fun. Having volunteers is wonderful for us. We love getting to know other cultures, sharing stories, experiment with new ideas and having the help has been an amazing blessing.
As of right now we are enjoying our beautiful spring time in the Rockies. We are enjoying our time in our sauna which is complete on the inside but ne...

I live in a very beautiful, quiet and rocky landscape about 40 minutes NW of Boulder, Colorado, with wonderful mountain and valley views from a huge deck and SO many stars at night. It's close to world-class hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park, mountain biking if you want to rent one, white-water kayaking and rock climbing. The Summit County world-famous Colorado ski areas are about a two-hour drive from here if you have a car.
***This is a no-fragrance house so please, no perfume, cologne, incense, hair spray, strongly-scented shampoo or make-up, etc.
UPDATE on February 21, 2013 I'm having a day of inspiration, with a vision of a month long concentrated project with one Helper. Are you the perfect person? One month with the two of us collaborating on growing Canine Campovers. MUCH of it will be work online, from Facebook to LinkedIn to SEO work for the web site. Lots of creative initiative and resourcefulness to help us find several new dog sitters and build our client ...

We have a small farm in South Central Idaho, 45 minutes from Sun Valley. Originally, an ornamental tree farm we soon realized that edibles are where it's at in these uncertain times. We are seeking helpers for our growing season between May and early November. We ask for 6 hours of work per day excluding weekends and that any volunteers be over 21 years of age. We'll provide a nice stand alone travel trailer with full kitchen as accommodation in our willow grove. The rural nature of our farm isn't conducive to children, and pets may be negotiable. We live in a beautiful canyon where the skies are dark enough at night to see the Milky Way and there are stars between the stars. In the Spring we grow garden bedding plants for our Farmers Markets and for planting into our gardens for produce. We specialize in Bee products including, hand-dipped beeswax candles, lotion bars & hand salves, honey, bee pollen, balms and chest rub. We do a fair amount of foraging for mushrooms, in se...

We are a 20 acre off-grid, solar powered, fairly remote homestead on the side of a mountain. We are at 4700 feet elevation. We specialize in raising cashmere goats in a holistic manner. We live in a very small strawbale house, cook on a wood cookstove in the winter, electric hot plates and a little propane oven in the summer. The land is very special around here, with stunning views and no houses in sight, although there are a couple of neighbors not too far away. Wildlife is everywhere, from rabbits and deer, elk and moose, to foxes, coyotes, wolves, bear and mountain lions. We have gardens, both veggie and flowers, plus fruit trees and berries. 67 cashmere goats, 12 Chickens, 1 remaining guinea hen, 3 dairy goats, and 2 dogs and one old cat round out the place. My husband is working on the East Coast for the foreseeable future, so I would like someone, preferably female, or a married couple, with no children or pets, to help me keep this place going. I need mor...

South of Spanish Fork, Utah, in a semi rural environment, we have 15 acres (5.85 hectares) upon which sit a gorgeous temple, a 6,000 sq foot residential facility with comfortable double rooms, two outdoor stages, a large covered pavilion, and amenities for parrots, peacocks, llamas and 3 small cows. There is a 200,000 gallon lake with waterfall from which we gravity feed one acre under cultivation. The acreage produces chemical free tomatoes, eggplants, varieties of chilis, squash, melons, corn, cabbage, broccoli, green peppers, potatoes and flowers for worship.
We sponsor lots of festivals and twice or thrice yearly yoga retreats. March of 2013 we hosted the 10 th annual Festival of Colors (Holi) which attracted 65,000 attendees over a 2 day period. The event was photographed by Reuters International & picked up by MSNBC, CNN International, Times of India, Hindustan Times, the Republic in Italy, as well as news outlets all over the world. The best video from 2011 by Evan Ca...

Our place is in the northern tip of Idaho close to Canada. It is located on the magnificiant 43 mile long lake Pend Oreille, surrounded by the Selkirk and Cabinet mountains and Schweitzer ski resort. Sandpoint has a thriving arts and music community. For people who enjoy the outdoors the choices are endless, hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, hunting, skiing. There are great parks and hot springs in the surrounding area. Our home is on a farm a 15 min. drive to town. We have spectacular views of Schweitzer ski resort. We grow alfalfa hay and also have wooded areas with maintained trails for hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and xc skiing. I love to garden and do my best to keep things organic. We grow a huge variety of berries, produce and flowers. Our Barn is home to our miniture horses and chickens. We also have a dog and a cat. Our house is large with 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms. Over the years we have had many fosterchildren and an exchange student. We now have only one son at home, he...

[Please note: Salida is a nearby city which is an approximate location for our host site. We are in a rural/wilderness setting.] We are a Buddhist nonprofit endeavor located in the beautiful San Luis Valley in Colorado. The valley floor is at 8000 feet surrounded by 14,000-foot peaks. We are near the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness and the Great Sand Dunes National Park. This is an agricultural area in an Alpine-desert environment. We have chickens, horses. dogs and goats who kindly give us milk, yogurt and cheese. We are currently studying Geoff and Nadia Lawton's "Greening The Desert" concepts. For the past three years we have been creating our compost to use when we begin. We are seeking volunteers who can stay at least a month at a time. We are especially interested in having long-term volunteers. People with building abilities would be very welcome. Volunteers would be asked to carry out morning chores (feed and water the horses, goats and chickens), along with other fa...

Our small patch of ground is located in the heart of south central Idaho. We are surrounded by some of the best outdoor recreation in the western U.S. Have you heard of Sun Valley, Jackson Hole, Yellowstone, City of Rocks or Redfish Lake? The list of things to do around here is very long and would take up more than this page allows.
We offer what is known as a farm box. Members buy a share in early spring and that entitles them to a portion of whatever we pull out of the ground every spring, summer, and fall. While we are not certified organic, we do not use any commercial pesticides or fertilizers. Natural is the key concept here.
In exchange for 5 hours per day(8am to 1 pm), Monday through Friday, you will receive free lodging in a 28 foot travel trailer, and 2 meals per day plus snacks. For anyone who stays with us in January and February, 4 weekend ski passes at a local resort will be a little bonus!
Your work will include taking care of chickens, goats, dogs, our gr...
