We are a Jewish am ha' aretz family on a small organic (non-certified) farmstead in the foothills of the Rocky mountains in north-central Idaho. We are near the Clearwater River and the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. but our most special crop, and the reason we live the simple life we do, is our children.

Our goal is to raise our family in a healthy, country, close to the earth kind of way. Animals, gardening, baking, herbal remedies, natural food preservation, bio-dynamic gardening methods.... We love having volunteers, getting to know other cultures, sharing stories, and experimenting with new ideas. Plus, the help has been an amazing blessing.

Skills you could learn here, learning about fermenting breads, sourdough, baking in a cob oven, ethical poultry production and gardening, and different methods of making soils more fertile organically.

So this winter I am looking for someone with experience in house renovation to stay longer through winter. It's all inside work. The space is built so just finishing to make habitable.
( Update: Paul just stayed enroute to Australia. The plumbing and walls are done, so we now have a lot of painting, trim work and finishing to do ).
I'm trying eco-friendly ideas: never done some of them myself. Thank goodness for youtube.
Paper bag flooring, epoxy counters; that kind of thing.
I'll provide accommodation; you provide your food. Short work hours.

This is my normal summer posting: a lifestyle block (horses, goats, dogs, birds, etc). We keep the property in shape, care for the animals, continue putting up shelters, paint, and ideas towards pulling tourists for a community venture here.
Stay in a trailer unless the weather isn't suitable; in that case in the house. Wifi.
Any stay 1-21 days.

Non-smokers please (including 420 products)...seriously! Tools can be dangerous enough... more inside

My wife and I bought a big ol Queen Anne house in Deadwood, South Dakota a few years ago. The town is great, and so is the house, but it needs work. It was vacant for three years before we got ahold of it, and it was in rough shape. So far, we've replaced the roof, shored up the foundation, replaced the plumbing, rebuilt the porches and landscaped. Whew.

But there's still a lot to do. And not only can we use some help restoring and maintaining the house, we're also running the house as a bed and breakfast. That's where you come in. If you're willing to help us out with the house and help us take care of guests, we've got plenty of room for you to stay with us. Here are the kinds of tasks wed be looking for help with:

*Painting, inside and out.
*Oiling & polishing woodwork & dusting.
*Refinishing woodwork (doors, baseboards and trim) - you know, if that's in your wheelhouse.
*Landscaping our small garden beds in the spring & summer, shoveling snow in winter.
*Cleaning! Mos... more inside

Our place is in the northern tip of Idaho close to Canada. It is located on the magnificent 43 mile long lake Pend Oreille, surrounded by the Selkirk and Cabinet mountains and Schweitzer ski resort. Sandpoint has a thriving arts and music community. For people who enjoy the outdoors the choices are endless, hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, hunting, skiing. There are great parks and hot springs in the surrounding area.
Our home is on a farm a 15 min. drive to town. We have spectacular views of Schweitzer ski resort. We grow alfalfa hay and also have wooded areas with maintained trails for hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and xc skiing. I love to garden and do my best to keep things organic. We grow a large variety of berries, produce and flowers. Our Barn is home to our miniature horses and chickens. We also have two dogs and a cat. Over the years we have had many fosterchildren and exchange students. We often get visitors and have enjoyed hosting people from all over the world.

Hello potential helpers! Looking for a peaceful stay in Colorado's Rocky Mountains in exchange for some help on our property?

We would be thrilled to find someone with stone and/or brick masonry skills, irrigation/plumbing, tile setting or finish carpentry skills. Or engineers of any kind - you engineers are always amazing! By skills, that means someone who really knows what they're doing, and doesn't need to be cleaned up after! We've had "carpenters" who don't even know how to use a sander, painters who left tools everywhere, including out in the rain, etc. Sorry to complain, but we just mean to say that we would appreciate your honesty about the level and amount of experience you have.

We may be able to use your help in landscaping/general labor help shorter term, on a last minute basis only, June through October only.

We will provide very comfortable accommodation, great meals, and side sightseeing trips.

We'll be doing things like putting in an irrigation system, ... more inside

Small sheep ranch in northern Montana offers hands-on-learning experiences. We run about 100 head of ewes for wool and lamb crops. There is need for sheep herding help in the summer, lambing help during February through April in particular. Shipping is in August. But internships accepted all year. Other ranch activities include plantings for wildlife, fencing, farming, gardening and landscaping, building and repairs. Besides sheep, ranch animals include horses and goats.
UPDATE:
June through the summer and fall, Helpers who have some skills in carpentry, construction, painting, etc. would be appreciated for help with restoration of early homestead barn and shed projects. Also, an overnight campsite for bicyclists would like to be constructed. Jackleg fencing is planned for this campsite boundary.
Summer and fall are wonderful times to spend in this area as time off to see Glacier Park and rodeos, fairs, other events are more easily scheduled.
