We are always looking for good helpers. Our helpers generally stay for up to 3 months. We can certainly discuss longer stays. We can also arrange shorter stays.

We are located next to the University of Virginia in Charlottesville - in the heart of Virginia's wine-producing country. We are surrounded by much of America's early history: four of America's first five presidents lived near here.

The nearby Blue Ridge Mountains offer many beautiful walks and hiking trails for you to explore. In the city, there are wonderful concerts, theaters and cinemas, and over 400 cafes and restaurants. Charlottesville is one of the best small cities in America: in just a few minutes, you can be in the forest, by a river or on top of a mountain!

Our city is 110 miles southwest of Washington DC. I often take our helpers there for visits as well as trips to the mountains, the beach and anywhere else you might enjoy.

I run a family building and real estate business. In the gardens... more inside

Our 100+ acre farm and cafe are a part of a worldwide network of communities, many of which also run cafes, organic farms, and cottage industries where volunteers are also welcome to stay with us in exchange for participation in our busy life. We currently have goats, ducks, chickens, cattle, and honey bees. We care for our animals to provide milk and eggs. We are now endeavoring to grow and process our own grain to provide non-GMO flour for ourselves and feed for our animals. We would love some support in establishing our granary and infrastructure surrounding it. We also run a café in the tiny town of Oak Hill, New York. We built our rustic Deli with our own hands, using old rustic barn wood and other recycled materials. We love working together to serve good, wholesome food in a warm, encouraging environment.
Help with animal care, household chores, and even some work in our cafe are much needed and very welcome.

We all work together in our houses, on the farm and at our c... more inside

Currently seeking volunteers for the following

Cumberland, MD -- November 24 onward
Baltimore, MD -- November 22 to December 10, March 1 onward
--------------------------------------------------

I have two properties, the rowhouse is in Baltimore, Maryland and the other house is in Cumberland, Maryland. Both are tastefully restored classic homes.

I am a professional in my early forties who works full time in Washington, DC and owns a home in Baltimore, MD and another in Cumberland, MD. The Baltimore home is a restored 19th century townhouse and I have four bedrooms that I rent on AirBnB and monthly. Since I work full time and spend a lot of time commuting, sometimes I need some help keeping the home clean and ready for the AirBnB guests. But I am rarely fully booked and would welcome the opportunity for assistance especially when I travel, which is frequently. I am ... more inside

We are the best of friends who live together and run a 24-hour café in Oneonta, New York. We built our rustic Deli with our own hands, using old rustic barn wood and other recycled materials. We all work together in our houses and at our café. There is a lot to do in maintaining a community. We have two large houses and a café that need constant care and attention. We enjoy having guests and volunteers who want to get to know us by living and working with us.

We are a homeschooling family of 5 people and 3 cats who live in suburban Queens in 75-year old house and we could use help with the general maintenance/repairs.
The structure is sound, but it needs lots of cosmetic work and repairs.
There is no dearth of work that needs to be done.

We do *NOT* need help with daily household assistance, child care, or cooking. We prefer HelpXers in their 30s or older or couples. If you are still in your 20s and interested, please discuss your work ethic and work knowledge/experience in your request.

WE NEED INDEPENDENT SELF-STARTERS WHO DO NOT NEED CONSTANT SUPERVISION AND ASSISTANCE FROM US AND WHO ARE WILLING TO TAKE THE INITIATIVE TO COMPLETE TASKS AND COME TO US WITH QUESTIONS OR PROBLEMS AS THEY ARISE! ALSO IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO PUT IN THE HOURS PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND AS WORK ETHIC IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US.

Our Meditation Center in New York is an internationally renowned center for meditation, where everyone is welcome to enjoy a peaceful environment or join in the many programs offered throughout the year. We have a World Peace Temple situated on 82 acres of grounds, including nature trails.

Our working visit program is a great way to experience life at a Buddhist retreat Center, learn about Buddhism & meditation, and put your compassion and love for others into action. In exchange for volunteering, working visitors receive dormitory accommodation and three vegetarian buffets a day. The working visit also includes general program classes, courses, and pujas that happen throughout the week and weekends.

Working visit opportunities last for a duration of one week, and begin and end on Sunday. Working visitors have their first Sunday free to explore the grounds and meet the community. It's hard to describe us as "empty-nesters", because our home is hardly empty, but my husband and I are the only full-time two-legged residents here. Our daughters are grown and "launched". We are animal lovers, and as of this writing, we share our home and our lives with a rather large menagerie of rescued animals: 2 small dogs; 3 cats; and 7 house rabbits, but those numbers are constantly in flux, as older four-legged family members depart this life, and new ones are adopted. Before we adopted our daughters from Russia, I was an architectural and aviation photographer, but am now in the process of starting a new jewelry/metalsmithing business. My husband is a commercial real estate developer. Our younger (27-year-old) daughter works for me, and is here for a few hours most days, and our eight-year-old granddaughter also visits regularly.

We're looking for folks to help with a variety of projects as well as general animal and household maintenance and chores. We’re offering... more inside
