We are always happy to welcome good helpers. Usually, our helpers stay for about 3 months, but we can certainly discuss longer or shorter stays.

We live next to the University of Virginia in Charlottesville - in the heart of Virginia's wine-producing country, surrounded by much of America's early history: four of America's first five presidents lived near here. The nearby Blue Ridge Mountains offer many beautiful walks and hiking trails for you to explore. In the city, there are wonderful concerts, theaters and cinemas, and over 400 cafes and restaurants. Charlottesville is one of the best small cities in America: in just a few minutes, you can be in the forest, by a river or on top of a mountain! We are 110 miles southwest of Washington DC. I often take our helpers to Washington and for trips to the mountains, the beach and anywhere else you might enjoy.

I run a family building and real estate business. In the gardens, we grow many kinds of fruit and vegetables. I al... more inside

Peaceful Hollow Homestead is located in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia. We live in a quiet hollow, with no neighbors in sight. There are no city lights, and you can see every star on a clear night!

Running a homestead is hard but rewarding work. Homesteading is not for the faint of heart. It requires a certain strength of character to chose such a life. We could always use an extra set of hands. We enjoy meeting new people, and developing friendships. We have a lot you can be involved in.

Some things we need your help with:
- Caring for our horse, chickens, cats and dog. If you are not allergic to honey bees, you may help us with our beekeeping.

- General landscaping upkeep.

- Caring for young fruit trees.

- Plant, cultivate, harvest fruits & vegetables; Assist with home-canning (preserving) of fruits & vegetables. Extending the herb garden.

- We have various ongoing construction and home improvement projects, such as mudding, sanding, painting d... more inside

Our Meditation Center in New York is an internationally renowned center for meditation, where everyone is welcome to enjoy a peaceful environment or join in the many programs offered throughout the year. We have a World Peace Temple situated on 82 acres of grounds, including nature trails.

Our working visit program is a great way to experience life at a Buddhist retreat Center, learn about Buddhism & meditation, and put your compassion and love for others into action. In exchange for volunteering, working visitors receive dormitory accommodation and three vegetarian buffets a day. The working visit also includes general program classes, courses, and group meditations that happen throughout the week and weekends.

Working visit opportunities last for a duration of one week, and begin and end on Sunday. Working visitors have their first Sunday free to explore the grounds and meet the community. We are a vibrant farming and handcrafting community that includes adults with developmental disabilities. Our residents, living and participating side by side, create a dynamic and caring community for people of all ages and varied abilities. Located on 432 acres of farm, gardens and woodlands in Chester County, Pennsylvania, we are also a local center for culture and a model for sound ecological living.
Coworkers are invited to live in one of our "extended family" lifesharing houses and receive all their meals there as well. Our agricultural and craft workshops include a weavery, pottery, mosaic workshop, fiber arts, bakery, cafe, or bio-dynamic gardens, orchard and dairy farm. In addition to coworker positions, we also offer 1-2 year biodynamic apprenticeships in our dairy and vegetable CSA through The Biodynamic Association's Beginning Farmer Training Program. Hello from the beautiful Brooklyn neighborhood of Park Slope. I prefer 2 helpers (a couple) with skills, experience and reviews. Available late summer, fall. Very good spoken English required.
POSSIBLE TASKS:

1. Fast, careful house cleaning & small handyman house tasks
2. Gardening - experience preferred
3. Experienced design-layout of booklet

Lovely but usually busy home. I seek very detail oriented and attentive help; super responsible, fast learner, independent, flexible, very positive attitude, mature, honest helpers. Please provide info about your skills, background, references, and your travel plans. [I have had too many negative experiences with dishonest and immature Helpers who don't show up.] Do NOT contact me unless you are honest, have references, and will be reliable.

My home is a business & your "room" is my livelihood, so my work expectations are high.
I run a small B & B, so your room will be "booked" for you, so DATES we negotiate must be 100% CERT... more inside

One thing I can advise helpers who want to get a placement with any host is to have at least one PICTURE of YOURSELF. Just as you like to "see" who and where you're coming, hosts like to see who they're opening their home to.
It is Spring now, although it's been a rough one so far, we had a blizzard on the first day of it, lol so there weren't many things to do outside in the garden but hopefully it's warming up now. I would really appreciate someone who can do handyman jobs and wants to come for a week or two. I do eBay and can also anyone who is experienced at it and/or building websites.
I have a large house and property in a diverse area of Staten Island, New York that I'm always working on.
I plant a vegetable garden in the spring using the square foot gardening method. A friend and I rebuilt the whole house on the inside including jacking it up and replacing the foundation, sills and beams so there's very little major work to be done inside except some finishing work an... more inside

My business, which currently repairs and custom modifies European and vintage American cars, is changing its focus and will begin fabricating small housing units.

The new product is a 4m X 4m X 4m structure which houses four people and has a kitchen, toilet, and shower. Hot and cold running water, as well as heat, air conditioning and lighting are all available options. The structure is designed to be shippable by pallet and can be used in the Arctic, the jungle, the desert and in driveways. It can be assembled by one person with no special tools or knowledge. it is also 100% recyclable and can be made machete-proof for volitile areas.

This product is currently in the patent process. I expect to have the final car out of my shop by May, and production of the new product to start immediately thereafter.

Ultimately, I would like to build a sustainable permaculture-based community dedicated to producing this shelter.

As for me, I am a 49 year-old, neurodiverse, divorc... more inside

Need help from End of July until End of October 2018

We are a family of three - two kids 8, 11 and myself.
We needs some help for approximately 4 hours a day. Being originally from Germany, our help also has to speak fluent GERMAN so you can help with German language practice and homework assistance.

We normally have all breakfast together and after the kids leave for school, you have off until 3 PM when school is over.
(Great for a German Exchange student who want to go in NJ to college)
Board and lodging shall be provided with Internet access. TV, AC. (Nice guest room with separate half bathroom)

We are a German/English bilingual household. Ideal for a Cultural Exchange and for someone who wants to improve their English language.

It's important that someone is in the house in the afternoon. Any general household help shall be appreciated but not essential, especially if you are a student needing time to study.

If the person applying has cooking skills you are... more inside

Hi, I'm Cole. My home is a collection of cottages on a waterfront property in Gloucester, VA. I own 2 restaurants and work 7 days a week. I need help around the place with general maintenance, weeding, minor gardening feeding the ducks and chickens I raise.Currently in need of help cleaning up around the yard and organizing storage sheds. I would only expect a few of hours work each morning. The location is somewhat remote, very quiet and peaceful. Open minded (I am gay), relaxed atmosphere. There is a kayak available for use. High speed internet is also available. I provide food, but because of the hours I work you would usually be cooking for yourself. Accommodations is your own small cottage. May through October is the best time to come, as there is much more to do outdoors and on the water, kayaking, fishing, swimming in the creek.
Thanks for looking!
