Greetings from our organic farming community, located forty five minutes north of Albany in the fertile Battenkill Valley. My family warmly invites you to experience our unique life of friends and togetherness. We are situated on over one hundred acres of gently rolling hills and lush river bottom land. Growing a wide assortment of vegetables and herbs for a CSA and our own community use, heritage breed chickens, milking a small herd of dairy goats, raising sheep, maintaining the beautiful grounds of the estate, operating a cottage industry, and running a small deli in town keep us busy and open for new friends year round. In addition to the normal farm crew and volunteers, we also have a great time doing the "community night" in the field, with everyone coming out for one evening a week to join in the work and reward of getting our hands in the soil. Guests are frequent all year round and we would love to have you join us. Whether you come for a day or come to stay, our hearts and ... more inside

We are a small raspberry, orchard, mixed green and vegetable farm in Kennebec County, East Vassalboro Maine. We have a 22 year old son, 19 year old daughter and 17 year old daughter. Our land backs up to the outlet stream of China Lake. We are within walking distance of store, library, church (Quaker, Methodist or Baptist), China Lake boat landing, sports fields and Grange Hall. The bicycling and fishing in the area are well known. We are 30 miles(42km) from the ocean. Our farm has been in and out of our family since 1906. Our farm house has a large kitchen living area with an available bedroom bathroom in the winter and a larger living quarters from April to October. We operate a small farmers market on Saturday at the farm and sell most berries to health food stores locally and on the coast. We also maintain a local CSA that distributes food Saturdays off the farm. Colby College, Thomas College, UMA and the Maine State Capital are 9 miles away for broader entertainment. My husband and I own a 6 acre farm in a rural community outside of Concord NH. We have a small organic herb and vegetable garden and sell our produce at a stand in front our house and at the local Farmers Market. We also have a small prepared food business selling organic baked beans at the markets and other venues in New Hampshire.
Our property is located along a river where you can swim and explore by canoe. We have a hot tub on site and a fire pit for cool evenings. Our town is rural but the capital of New Hampshire, Concord is 15 minutes away where you would have access to shopping and cultural events. The White Mountains, seacoast and Boston are all within 1.5 hours by car or bus.
We would require 20-30 hours of work in exchange for room and board. We have 2 vacant bedrooms upstairs in our 1790 farmhouse. We also have a bedroom reserved for Airbnb guests which we generally have once or twice a month.
We would like a commitment of 2-4 weeks or more but are willing to be fl... more inside

We (my parents and I) have a beautiful turn of the century Italiante villa in a coastal town north of Boston. It is currently just our residence. We bought it several years ago and have not made as much progress working on the grounds and restoration as we had hoped.

I currently live here with one roommate, but am looking to add two more, as well as hosting people for the warm months in exchange for work on the ground/gardens and on the house if they have artistic/fix-it leanings or serious carpentry skills.

Having just taken responsibility for this big old property I will not be able to travel any time soon, so I am inviting the world to my home instead.

I am new to helpx and to its concept, but I know our place is worth sharing and in a great location for travelers who would like to get to know coastal New England. We are near many great beaches, historic sites and quaint old towns.

The property is across the street/walking distance to a nice beach, the commuter rai... more inside

We live on beautiful land on top of a hill with great views. I am looking for help with any of the following - rides for my son and me (we can use my car), some finish construction work in house and in newly being converted studio, help with planting and caring for food and herb gardens and herbal harvests (no knowledge necessary), housecleaning, and cooking of some meals. Even if only one of these appeals, please do write.

Our property has a beautiful spring fed pond for swimming and fishing, fruit trees and herb and veggie gardens. The house is in process, but cozy and welcoming. We heat with a woodstove, cook with propane, draw water from a spring fed well, and have an indoor composting toilet. We have an earthen sauna for bathing. In warmer weather, you are welcome to bring a tent if you need more private space.

I am an herbalist, gardener, mother, and woman passionate about enjoying life and being present. Dealing with my own health challenge, I welcome help around... more inside

We are members of Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association, National Silver Fox Rabbit Association, American Rabbit Breeders Association and others.
We have been having a great time with our helpers; But we are getting a lot of people saying they are going to show up and then never show or respond. We find this behavior to be very immature and irresponsible.
We have openings now that our most recent helpers have moved on. We also request a minimum stay of 2 weeks please.
We raise Heritage breeds of rabbits (Silver Fox and both Blue and White Americans)for breeding stock, pets and also for meat, we have bees, chickens for eggs, a small greenhouse, and large (a couple of acres) gardens where we grow fresh vegetables for sale. We have both perennial crops like rhubarb, asparagus and grapes as well as many heirloom varieties of veggies (such as 15 kinds of tomatoes and 7 kinds of potatoes). We also grow perennials and tree seedlings for sale. We are trying to be as organic a... more inside

We are a new organic, holistic family farm. We have a herd of Dexter cattle for milk and meat, along with a personality-filled herd of goats, also for milk and meat. We have a garden with a high-tunnel greenhouse (erected with the help of our first helpxer).

We are committed to caring for our animals in a way that satisfies their innate instincts and provides a happy, respect-filled life. We do intensive rotational grazing to improve the health of our pasture and to make the most of what is available to the animals.

We are looking for people who can help with gardening, animal care (though there really isn't much to do when the animals are on pasture), light carpentry, landscaping, mechanical repair, masonry, book-keeping, etc. You name it, we probably need it. We will also accept helpers who prefer to do routine housework, which would then free us up for more rigorous farm work. Our biggest project coming up this spring and summer will be lots of fence-building.

We are in Upstate New York exactly 100 miles form GW Bridge. We are not a farm as such but do try to grow as much or our own vegetables, and some soft fruits as possible. We raise broiler chickens free range for the freezer and have hens for their eggs. This year 2013 we are expanding the veggie garden and putting in raised veggie beds hoping to start planting out before the first week of June. We need help with various aspects of the garden and land. A truck of compost and is to be delivered and a hand to wheelbarrow it to the beds and shovel it would be much appreciated Nobody needs to break sweat working at out pace is fine. Our other plans for the year are to clear some more of our four acre woodland and perhaps raise a couple of piglets to slaughter size. Also Geese and Rabbits are on the agenda destined for the freezer and making use of their droppings for manure. We compost in a big way going to the raceway weekly for manure and collecting grass cuttings to add to the forest... more inside

We are looking for help to look after our pets (2 large older dogs and 2 cats) and help me out a bit around the house. We need help from May - November. We have a boat and so we need help caring for them Friday - Sunday through the summer. I also need help sometimes during the weekdays if I have to go into the city. Very light house work, probably a total of about 1 - 2 hours per day during the week (including doggy walks), same on the weekend, but on the weekend we would need you to be around (I don't like the boys to be left alone for periods longer than 3 hours ... they're getting old) and be there during the night on the weekends. We live on the North shore of Long Island, which is just 50 miles east of NYC, our house is 2 blocks from the sea and there are a ton of things to see and do in the area. Must be a non-smoker (I really, really hate anything to do with smoking) and must have a drivers license. Use of the 'dog car' when not needed for pet walking etc.
