I am a single mother of two who lives outside the town of Wilton, Maine. I need help with childcare, housework and light yard work. My two little girls are 6 and 4. I am going to school full time to become a nurse and involved with musical theater. I am very busy and have a difficult time getting it all done! I am looking for someone who is loves kids and is looking to stay for a few weeks to a few months. I would need someone from about 4 to 6 hours a day, give or take. I will not need someone everyday so you can certainly have time off to explore! I have an extra room available and would provide plenty of food, and hopefully several home-cooked meals, I love to cook when I have the time! I am hoping to find a female willing to stay with us for comfort reasons but I am open to having a male or a couple if the situation feels right. My home is about five minutes from town, which is a quaint New England town with a college. There is plenty to do here for someone who loves the outdoor... more inside

Elizabeth and Hedley live in Willimantic which is a small x-mill town. Their three boys are off at college. Eastern Connecticut State University is local and the University of CT is 9 miles away. Boston is 2 hours to the NE and NYC three hours to the SW. The town amenities are within walking/biking distance. We have been renovating a farm house built in 1885 and working on the yard. The work involved is mostly garden work. The normal stuff of weeding, raking, pruning. In the fall we harvest organic grapes and can the juice. There are also projects like rebuilding a dry wall and taking trees down and clearing land that is over grown.

I suggest you go to our website for more complete details or contact me by email. We have an extensive organic garden, from which we feed our family and the guest that come to our Eco-Resort. I am 70 years old and have followed organic principals all my life. My father before me was one of the first organic farmers in the entire area. We have had international students stay here in the past and can provide references.
Eco-Resort looking for volunteers to assist with a variety of projects.

Volunteers needed to assist master builder and woodworker in construction of new high-end log cabins and furnishings. Volunteers will be involved with all levels of construction from cutting down trees, to working on a sawmill to cabin construction. This is very hands-on work.

Additionally, we need volunteers to assist with the daily operations and maintenance of the eco-resort. Project may include: grounds maintenance; installation of LED lighting system along our walking paths; baking p... more inside

Update: We are one of the fortunate farmers in our state, that was selected to be part of the high tunnel program. We will be installing a large high tunnel as soon as it arrives this spring and plan to hit the ground running with planting some of our vegetables in raised beds inside the tunnel. We could use additional help with installation and getting our plants started. We are very excited about this opportunity, as this 4 year research project could help other farmers and gardeners in most northern Maine extend their season, and help expand the eat local movement in this area. There is alot riding on this venture and success for our farm in collecting the data and using it to encourage others up here to the same will be rewarding. We hope some of you will read this and come join us in getting this off the ground. There will be a good deal of work to get this up and running, and your help will be greatly appreciated.

My husband and I have lived in rural Tuftonboro, NH for the past 27 years. We are small business owners. We own a micro roastery and a design business. Both businesses are located on the property so we generally do not need to travel far. We have two daughters (27 and 29) who live here part time and our German Shepard who lives here full time.
We are in the beginning stages of transforming our land into a small farm. We currently have many projects ranging from tending our garden to house repairs, setting up pallet fences to re-siding buildings.
We are looking for two people who are independent, hard working, and have basics in carpentry. We also appreciate people with a good sense of humor and an open mind. Due to liability in the US we require people to have some form of health or travel insurance.
The exchange lay out is 5 hours a day for 3 meals a day and board. We are flexible with days and hours and length of stay. For board we offer a trailer that gives you pr... more inside

Family owned and run real estate company specializing in short term weekly vacation rentals on the North Fork of Long Island, New York, only 2 hours from Manhattan, but a world apart. This is Long Island Wine Country, with more than 40 vineyards and farms. The area is well known for its white sandy beaches, fine dining, boating and fine restaurants serving local farm produce, local seafood and local wine. The area is served by a high speed bus to Manhattan (around $35 return trip), also ferries to the Hamptons (30 minutes) and Connecticut (1 hour). Boston is 3 or 4 hours by ferry and train.

We need flexible help to lighten our workload. Depending on your interests and talents, we have a range of jobs that might suit. In summer, we need help mainly with managing the practical aspects of weekly changeovers for the vacation rental homes, and we now have 4 condos at a local Resort as well. This Spring, we're planning a wildflower meadow at our beach house, as a film crew tore up th... more inside

I am a single woman living in the woods of Maine 3 miles from a lovely New England college town, near many lakes, rivers and small mountains. I love meeting people from all over the world and would feel privileged to exchange a guest room in my home for a few hours of light work each day. My mother lives in a second house on my property and I have one quiet and very respectful cat.

We are looking for help that might include light carpentry, lawn care, chopping firewood, house cleaning, light gardening, and occasional child care for my granddaughters. I am also interested in learning other languages and would be happy to exchange a place in my home for a few hours of tutoring, especially in French, Spanish, or Japanese. I would prefer guests to stay from one to four weeks, but would be open to other arrangements.

I customarily serve three meals a day, family-style, for all volunteers. A piano, internet and wireless service, laundry facilities and meditation/yoga room and a... more inside

Summer is upon us. Much transplanting in the fields and heavy maintenance for the crops. A lot of harvesting form now until October. We are also starting a new flock of chickens. This is an organic operation that maintains a small herd of dairy goats, beef cattle, and mixed vegetable and herb crops. We are a cooperative operation with twenty plus members who share in the living and management of the farm. We have open availability for volunteers, with room and board included. Inquiries please call at any time.

We are a couple in our twenties living in rural western Maine near the NH border. Cara is an art teacher and Devin is a boat builder. Also in residence are 5 goats, 9 guinea fowl, 5 cats and 2 dogs. (The cats and dogs live in the house. Please be aware if you have allergies.)

Update March 25, 2010

Last summer was great, with some serious projects finished thanks to our helpx helpers! We received our state dairy license in July and will continue to maintain our creamery status this year.

This season, we are hoping to have all four of our does milking. Kids are currently expected in mid-April, June, and early July. Late kidding this year means that helpers may experience goat birthing, newborn kids, and/or bottle feeding.

Farmer's market will start up again in May, which always takes place on Saturday mornings.

Possible major projects for this summer include:
-putting up a greenhouse over half of our garden.
-tidying up the property of fallen wood to add t... more inside
