Openings for 2017 start June and go through the summer and perhaps into fall!

We live on beautiful land on top of a hill with great views.

What I am most looking for is help care-taking the house (cooking and cleaning) and land (mowing), as well as rides for my son and me in my car. This means independent workers with an eye for neatness to bring the grounds and home to order and maintain that order. Some tend to prefer indoor or outdoor work, and that is fine. Simply let me know where your passions lie.

In addition to basic house maintenance it is always lovely to meet up with people passionate about natural building as we flesh out and remodel the house:

This summer's projects will focus on:
* finishing putting up the cedar shingle siding on the addition
* finishing framing out the interior of the addition for a few walls and for the kitchen and bathroom cabinetry
* building a more luxurious composting toilet setup inside
* framing out the wall for the soon-to-... more inside

I have been a couchsurfing host for many years and thought I would try helpx to see if I can get some help with my projects!

We are now looking for helpers for the summer 2018.We start our growing season in May and go till the end of October. We are looking for people that are willing to learn how to grow nutrient dense organic vegetables. We re mineralize the soil to do this with trace minerals. Cover cropping is also one of the ways that we use to accomplish this. You will be taught from the ground up. Starting with the removal of the trees. You will learn how to operate hand tools and farm machinery. If long term stay we offer a pay rate over 25 hours of work per week.

We are a 215 year old family farm switching over from organic soil growing to organic aquaponic greenhouse growing. We have one 3000 square ft greenhouse mostly completed and are starting construction shortly on another 5000 square ft greenhouse. We are looking for help on all fronts, from landscaping, light construction, painting, etc.
Our location is in Southern Maine, 75 miles North of Boston, 25 miles South of Portland and 10 miles from the coast and beaches.
There is a large farmhouse with spare bedrooms and bath and a rustic cottage for privacy also. We do have wi-fi.
We are striving for self-sustainability and are interested in anything that works for the planet and for those involved here.
I have lots more to say and hear from you if you are interested in an opportunity that could turn into a long term benefit for anyone involved.
We are extremely grateful people and intend to give even more than we receive.
Thank you for your consideration.

Greetings from our organic farming community, located forty five minutes north of Albany in the fertile Battenkill Valley. Our family warmly invites you to experience our unique life of friends and togetherness. We are situated on over one hundred acres of gently rolling hills and lush river bottom land. Growing a wide assortment of vegetables and medicinal herbs for a farm stand and our own community use, heritage breed poultry, milking a small herd of dairy goats and cows, raising sheep and donkeys, maintaining the beautiful grounds of the estate, and operating a cottage industry keep us busy and open for new friends year round. In addition to the normal farm crew and volunteers, we also have a great time doing the "community night" in the field, with everyone coming out for one evening a week to join in the work and reward of getting our hands in the soil.
Guests are frequent all year round and we would love to have you join us. Whether you come for a day or come to stay, our h... more inside

I live on the family farm and run a B&B. I also bake pies and quiches for farmers markets throughout Central Vermont. The house was built in 1840 and the property has been in the family since the late 1700's. There is also an old barn and outbuildings. As such, there are always dozens of projects that need to be done with no time to do them. I have chickens and ducks and a cat.

From jacking up buildings to cleaning, replacing broken window panes to website design, if you would like to come to Vermont and help out, I can always find a project for you to do.

If you have a car or at least a US or International Driver's license there are lots of fun things to do in the area such as skiing, hiking, fishing, swimming, antiques, theater, festivals and farmers markets.

Update- We've had a great season renting various parts of the property through Hip camp and Airbnb. With a record number of visitors to Acadia NP in '17, we're anticipating a busy upcoming, spring, summer and fall season! We're offering a 90/week stipend and free accommodations/living amenities to a motivated and polite individual(or couple) interested in hospitality for at least of 2 months from April - October.

The tasks will amount to around 10 hours per week allowing for a part or full time job off the premises, minor cleaning of the main cottage and camp sites. There is excellent opportunity for seasonal employment with the National Park, adventure programs or dining establishments in area.

The cottage will be rented as much as is reasonably possible while still allowing you at least 1 night per week to use it. The Yurt is typically booked on the weekend (that may change depending on demand so you'll need to be able to communicate fairly regularly with us while we're bus... more inside

Hello!

Priorities right now

Garden care basically prepping for next season so clean up and spreading of fall leaves and compost.
Prepping a new area for garden, berries, and trees. Here that basically means mowing any grass very short and covering it with leaves and whatever organic material can be found for free.
Painting the trim on the house in some places that have been redone.
Cooking and cleaning are always welcome.
Stacking wood.
If you are good with a chain saw, cutting wood.

About this property and me

My name is Bonnie Farrell. I have been on my property for 14 years and farming it for 10. I own 40 acres with wonderful views and a couple of very small ponds. I am open to different kinds of help and levels of experience. I have a three bedroom, three bathroom house. One spare room has a queen bed and the other has a full bed. So would allow two singles or two couples to stay at one time. Future help would be staying in the hous... more inside
