Update- We've had a great season renting various parts of the property through Hip camp and Airbnb. With a record number of visitors to Acadia NP in '17, we're anticipating a busy upcoming, spring, summer and fall '18 season! We're offering a $100/week stipend and wall tent accommodations/living amenities to a motivated and polite individual(or couple) interested in hospitality for at least of 2 months from April - October.

The tasks will amount to around 10 hours per week allowing for a part or full time job off the premises, minor cleaning of the main cottage and camp sites. There is excellent opportunity for seasonal employment with the National Park, adventure programs or dining establishments in the area.

The yurt will be rented as much as is reasonably possible while still allowing you at least 1 night per week to use its kitchen, running water, and tub. The Yurt is typically booked on the weekend.

We've established good soil for a 1/2 acre garden if you're interes... more inside

Hi! We are a small farm located in a beautiful spot in the Taconic Valley. Our land is a diverse mix of field, woods, and water. Our long range goal is to develop a business which offers many local products, create an educational camp and intentional community, and offer workshops on topics in farming and sustainable living.

We currently operate a small farm stand where we sell vegetables, pastured eggs and 100% grass-fed beef year-round. In addition, we host potlucks every other month and occasionally offer farm-based workshops.

A carpenter would be welcome to help complete the interior of an addition to the house. Great winter work!

We generally need help in all but the very coldest winter months! Some projects we will be working on in Spring and Summer 2018 include getting the garden prepared for the season, constructing a deck for our yurt, watering the greenhouse, helping take care of the chickens, washing and packing eggs, harvesting and washing vegetables, ... more inside

We are a 215 year old family farm switching over from organic soil growing to organic aquaponic greenhouse growing. We have one 3000 square ft greenhouse mostly completed and are starting construction shortly on another 5000 square ft greenhouse. We are looking for help on all fronts, from landscaping, light construction, painting, etc.
Our location is in Southern Maine, 75 miles North of Boston, 25 miles South of Portland and 10 miles from the coast and beaches.
There is a large farmhouse with spare bedrooms and bath and a rustic cottage for privacy also. We do have wi-fi.
We are striving for self-sustainability and are interested in anything that works for the planet and for those involved here.
I have lots more to say and hear from you if you are interested in an opportunity that could turn into a long term benefit for anyone involved.
We are extremely grateful people and intend to give even more than we receive.

We are a small family farm located in northern Vermont near Canada and New York. This is a brand new sustainable farm. Purchased during the winter this will be our first spring season. This would be a good opportunity for anyone interested in finding out how a small sustainable farm starts. We plan on being very diversified and raise many different plants and animal. Currently we are raising rabbits, ducks, turkey, pigs and bees. We plan on installing a greenhouse and huge garden in the spring. We can many of the items we raise which we then plan to sell in our farm market. A winery is also in the works. We have great structures but are limited in land size so we have to be very creative in order to reach our goal of becoming a sustainable farm that feed local families. As new member to helpx and also new farm owners we are open to ideas and suggestions. We will update this profile as farm progress

Mike and I live on a lovely quiet pond west of Boston - we are trying to build a small park on our land and a vegetable garden - we are in a wooded, rural area, but only 3 hours from New York, 1 hour from Boston and l/2 hour from Worcester. We have two cats - mostly outdoor - and one frisky dog who is outdoors during the day and six chickens. We are both vegetarians but still eat fish and eggs but very limited sugar and little bread. Our house is on two levels and has five bedrooms and two baths, 2 fireplaces and an outdoor firepit down by the Pond - good swimming and fishing in summer. We are five miles from the nearest store and library, but have bikes to lend out and can offer lifts. We are looking for people to help build the park, e.g. clear the brush and cut up trees and help with the gardens and general house cleaning. We have wi-fi and cable tv and a canoe and kyak and fishing poles. The fall colors are wonderful and the spring is simply beautiful. The summer is warm... more inside

We are on the North Fork of Long Island in Wine Country, about 2 hours east of Manhattan. The region has more than 40 vineyards, numerous small farms and an abundance of arts and crafts. This is also a high end resort area in the Summer, well known for its white sandy beaches, fine dining, boating and restaurants serving local farm produce, local seafood and local wine. The area is served by limited train service, but does have an express coach service to Manhattan (Google Hampton Jitney around $35 return trip), also ferries to the Hamptons (30 minutes) and Connecticut (1 hour), or you can drive to the Hamptons on the South Fork in about 35 - 60 minutes depending on time of year. Boston is 3 or 4 hours by ferry and train.

British and Brooklyn in the house :-) We need flexible help to lighten our workload - we both have multiple paid jobs plus hobbies and voluntary work - including real estate, web design, social media for emergency management, HAM Radio, and part time work for ... more inside
