Minimum Stay is 2 weeks.
We are a couple from czech+uk lived here for 20+ years and have 110 acre almost self sufficient farm set in the jungle with nearly 1 mile of jungle riverside, three miles from Hopkins Village a wonderful Garifuna cultural beach village and 1/4 mile from main road via farm road. We call it DQfunnyfarm because of the strange things we have and fun things we do.
20 acres are left to jungle for flora and fauna, 5 acres for livestock, 2 acres tropical fruiting trees and shrubs over 30 different types, also local root crops, vegetables and various others from time to time depending on seed availability. The rest was last used as rice farm by previous owner and is now shrubland for future development.
Livestock are dorper sheep, tame and wild muscovy, peking, buff ducks, Black bone chickens and other ancient types, guinea fowl, geese, guinea pigs, rabbits, piggywiggy's and four dogs...two live with the sheep, the other two guard around the house area.

I am a 53 year old woman, from NYC who has had a mid-life "change" at 50.
I have basically worked paycheck to paycheck my entire life, never able to save a dime. I knew after taking care of my son (18yrs and still going) and Mother for 6 years , I needed a change, a big change. After selling my small home I took a leap of faith and moved to Belize, looking for paradise to build a small "boutique" hotel out of shipping containers. I wanted to be as close to my family as possible, choosing Belize to build my dream.
I have been here for the past 17 months now, it took forever to find a good land lot, in my budget, with a water view. It hasnt been easy and living expences have brought down my building funds further. Closed on the land January 1st 2017.
I plan to make a five 40' container Guest Suites. Two are 48'x8' with ensuite Indoor/Outdoor bathrooms, sunrise over the sea and sunset over the mountain views. One is 40'x8' and one 24'x8' with the same, sans the outdoo... more inside

I am looking for a person, or up to 3 people at a time that would like to stay at this house for free from 1 to 4 weeks starting July 8th. You get the whole house to enjoy, and plenty of food and water for the pups, they are easy going and fun to take on walks and out and about. They provide great security at night. In the future, we will be an eco-sustainable home for abandoned young children with a transitional living center for young women leaving the orphanage system. This place will serve a dual purpose as a source of stable accommodation for these at-risk youth, as well as a source of livelihood and food security through sustainable organic farming. However, as of March 2017 we are still under construction and there are no children living here.

At this time we are NOT a functioning home for children. There are no children currently living here and we are only looking for volunteers for earthbag building and organic farming.

Consider coming to Belize and work on a unique earthbag building project while camping under the stars! The work site and camping area is set far back from the road, allowing for a spectacular view of the stars. The property also includes approximately 25 acres of jungle which you are welcome to explore. We often see monkeys, toucans, and other creatures. There ... more inside

We are 21 acres on a river and striving toward sustainability with many ongoing eco-projects. We have free-range chickens, ducks, and seven dogs, 3 hugelcultur gardens, lots of fruit trees and medicinal plants and we are off grid with solar energy. We are seeking help 3-5 hours per day in exchange for food and comfortable lodging in private guest house, or small trailer. We encourage helpXers to work on their own projects as long as they are within the realm of our mission toward sustainability, or participate in some of ours such as organic gardening, or some of our planned and partially completed projects such as aquaponics (started), biochar, cob oven, building simple thatched A-frame shelters. Rancho los Amigos is both a teaching and learning center. We welcome and appreciate expertise.
