Cool, characterful, wooden house with lovely sea views available on the small and beautiful island of Mayreau, Southern Grenadines, St Vincent, West Indies.

This is a great opportunity to live in self-contained free accommodation and sample the "old time Caribbean" on a very friendly, unspoilt island (population 270), in return for looking after our own 5 rescue dogs and rescue kitty, including beach walks on a daily basis for dogs belonging to a neighbouring family, who are otherwise chained 24/7. We also ask our helpers to look out for and assist in the welfare of the other island animals. We are the proud owners of an Eco-focused Hostel combined with Bed & Breakfast facilities located in The Keys a quiet suburban village of Philipsburg, the Capital City of Sint Maarten. Set into the Sint Maarten country hillsides, we are just across the Great Pond and from sweeping ocean sands, and a 7 minute scenic drive to the quaint streets of Philipsburg.

Here we are working on being Eco minded with everything we do and love. With the renovations yet happening, we apply the Eco aspect in our Hostel. You will find lots of recycled material applied with regards to the interior and exterior of our humble little place.

If you are Eco minded then come help us become the Eco-Hostel for which we have set our goals for. You will be able to use your creativity and even help with Eco workshops where we will be teaching our guests and neighbour local residents how to apply self-sufficient living in their lives. Besides this if you are looking to be among the locals and away from the ... more inside

Our very modest family home is comfortable and warm, where you will have your own private room and shared bathroom. You will have access to the kitchen and common areas. If you are a smoker, smoking is done in the garden. We are inviting someone who can teach us Forex Trading and FaceBook advertising from the comfort of our home. Hurricane Maria on Sept. 18 devastated Dominica with its Category 5++ winds. Our farm, along with almost all island agriculture (and infrastructure) was almost totally destroyed -- mature fruit trees ripped out of the ground, more. We are cleaning, rebuilding, replanting. Huge job ahead and conditions more difficult (no electricity, fresh food shortages, etc.) Help would be a huge blessing.
Following is our pre-hurricane description, still what we're shooting for.

***************************************

We again have openings starting anytime now for work exchange on our farm in luscious, tropical Dominica.

Not certified but using organic standards, Roots Farm grows diverse fruits, roots, vegetables and herbs at two lovely mountainside locations in Cochrane, Dominica for predominantly retail sales within Dominica. Located in a rain forested area approximately 1600-1700’ up, we enjoy a breezy, cooler climate than the coastal lands below, Our past specialty h... more inside

You'll find us centrally located near the top of the island, in a little house in the mountains. From our home, you see the sea and neighboring Caribbean islands. For the past six years, we have been running a small home business growing micro greens, herbs, cut flowers and some specialty crops. Now, myself and my daughter, are working to rebuild what was lost in the recent devastating Hurricane Irma. We are passionate hard workers, who love to be outside, to cook and have a good laugh. And we're desperately in need of some hardworking help and a sense of humor!

There are many renovations that need doing in order to get our lives and business back up and running again. If you are a hardworking, enthusiastic person with skills in carpentry and home renovations, we would LOVE your help! There is also painting, rock masonry and garden/farm maintenance to be done. SKILLS IN CARPENTRY ARE ESSENTIAL DURING THIS TIME.

Accomodation is a private, fully furnished apartment downstairs ... more inside

We started our farm in Martinique six years ago.

US :

Tommaso is agronomist, he grew up in Italy and worked in several African countries before arriving on this little island. Celine, an agriculture historian, grew up in Martinique and came back to make her dream of an organic farm come true.
We both had the opportunity to take a Permaculture Design Course (PDC) in Pai, Thailand, that inspired us a lot.
Macabou, Celine's parents land, offered us the opportunity to start this adventure.
The land is quite steep and is surrounded by a beautiful forest. In the middle of the forest a lake and beyond, the sea.

THE PROJECT :

The project takes shape. Many ideas are floating in our minds and step by step find their way on the land. At the same time we learn how to realize dreams.

A hudge orchard is growing and expanding presenting a high diversity of tropical fruits. Diversity and catastrophe resilience are our main goals. We expect to build a tropical food forest, here... more inside

I am looking for honest fun people who like to work 18-20 hours a week in exchange for private bedroom, bath, use of kitchen, and two bikes. I would also share my 20+ years of knowledge of where the best beaches, reefs, caves, fishing, ect.. are at. The work I need help with is painting, light wood work, carpentary, finishing work, cooking, and tending to the small farm. I have no problem sharing in the cooking and cleaning but do not want to cook and clean up after guests. I believe in the team effort concept and am looking for self reliant guests. I also am open to sharing my fishing and other equipment if I see you respect the gear. It is very difficult and expensive to get these items to the Island
I am in an incredible out island of the Bahamas called Eleuthera. There is 100 miles of uninhabited beaches with pristine reef systems, caves, and beaches. The people and the culture here are amazing. If you have any other skill sets that may help out please let me know!
