Located south of Puriscal County, our small town of Mastatal borders La Cangreja National Park. Our farm, Siempre Verde, strives to build and produce necessities in harmony with the earth while helping both the local community and our visitors live in a sustainable manner.
Volunteers will participate in both construction and farming projects, and have the opportunity to help care for animals as well.
Previous building projects include composting toilets, open air showers and tool shed renovation. Presently we are designing a very large mosaic, and maintaining bridges and trails. We also intend to build new volunteer house in several months. It will be constructed out of local teak, and we are in the initial preparation stages for that project.
Farm work has included planting and harvesting corn, weeding pineapples and cutting yuca. We are currently in the process of cultivating tomatoes, cilantro, cucumbers, mustard, sweet peppers and radishes in our greenhouse. In the futu...

Our jungle hostel is a newly opened hostel near Puerto Jimenez, on the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica. Built on 25 acres of secondary forest by Kyle and Brian of San Francisco, California, Clevante is an off-grid hostel and organic farm, whose aim is to integrate the diversity of a hostel atmosphere with sustainable living/learning in the ecologically distinct environment of the Osa Peninsula. Volunteer work at the Hostel includes everything from gardening, farming, livestock care and building to administrative tasks such as bar-tending, reception and general laundry and housecleaning. Volunteers will sleep in either the hostel dorms, which are bamboo cabana's with bunk beds, or when the hostel is full, tents or hammocks are recommended. We ask volunteers to contribute $5/day for food because food prices are so high here on the Osa. Three delicious meals are provided per day, you get drinks from the bar at cost, and volunteers get one day per week free to explore the peninsula.

We are completely full for June but have some space available July and beyond! Pura Vida!
Our place which in Spanish means a seed planted by a gardener, is a 12 acre river side farm. I have 3 acres of mixed coffee and chocolate growing in the shade of wood and fruit trees. The coffee and chocolate are processed on the farm. There is always food growing in the gardens and tender greens growing under cover. We have a solar dryer for drying coffee, chocolate, fruit and power bars. There are trails winding through hardwood trees, regeneration forests and along the river front. There is also a natural spring fed swimming pool.
Your living space is in the main house where you will have a private bedroom and a shared kitchen. I keep the kitchen stocked with basic food supplies (eggs, rice, beans, lentils, flour, oats, cooking oil). In addition you will have full access to the gardens and orchards where we have a steady supply of greens, root crops and fruit. This is sufficient for a...

In exchange we provide a homestay with a local family which is free to teachers with experience who can commit to 3 months or more. If the time commitment is less, or you are lacking experience we will still consider you on a sliding scale. We are a cultural homestay company providing international visitors a chance to experience Costa Rica from the inside! Visitors stay with a local family, practice/learn Spanish and enjoy our spectacular cloudforest setting, outdoor activities and traditions.
We are looking for individuals with marketing experience to research targets for our business and make the connections. We know our market well and have many of the tools in place to get started - we just lack the background and mostly the time!
Working days will be approximately 4 hours Monday - Friday with weekends off. We are willing to host a helper anywhere between 2 weeks or 2 months - whatever you can contribute! We would like to start this project in August or shortly after.
The successful applicant will receive free homestay and all meals with one of our company's registered families. Enjoy a typical Costa Rican welcome, improve your Spanish and you'll feel like part of the family right off!
