We are a family of 5 living on an eco farm in the cloud forest region of Ecuador.

Life is pretty simple but comfy here: a wooden house, two rivers, 2 acre of banana and coffee, some acres of pasture, greenhouse and many more acres of virgin rain forest.
There is no wifi, no phone, no electricity (we do have a generator to charge phones, etc). There sure is running water (from a natural spring), a toilet and a WARM shower.

We drive to town a couple of times a week, so everyone can check their emails, etc.

There are many things to do: designing and building some new infrastructure, maintaining the place, clearing and planting, reforesting the cloud forest with local small trees, identifying interesting specimens in the forest, animal care and working with the horses or donkey or llamas, preparing food, general work; one for all and all for one.

We would very much appreciate your time and your help with this project. We request 1 week stay minimum and 6 hours work a ... more inside

ENGLISH

Would you like to get experience the Ecuadorian Amazon and not just pass through? Would you like get to experience the life style of the Kichwas?

** There are several large projects the family needs help with right now, such as building a traditional style house in the jungle on a beautiful piece of property with two small waterfalls. The family would prefer volunteers who can stay for two weeks or longer, preferably a month. To help cover the costs, volunteers pay 3 dollars a day. After two weeks, it is 2 dollars a day and after a month 1 dollar a day, as the more familiar with the work, the more volunteers are able to learn and help the family.**

Our family lives in Tena but we also have a farm in the jungle, about an hour from the city. There is plenty of work to be done throughout the year. There is no set program for volunteers, but rather you will live with us as part of the family and help with typical work such as harvesting corn, plantains or yuca and other... more inside

Escaping commercial Europe again around three years ago,... I exchanged my little houseboat in Amsterdam, the Netherlands for a small terrain with cabin on a hilltop in Montanita, Ecuador. Two years ago I build my house. An ongoing project that's been open for costumer since a year or so. Success is growing and help is needed :)!...
I build everything myself, mostly from recycle materials.

The farm is located 10 minutes from Cotacachi, 15 minutes from Otavalo, and 5 minutes from Quiroga. We have cows, pigs, chickens, cuyes, fish, dogs and cats. We also have various garden areas which include fruit trees. We are working towards a reforestation project of native Andean trees and implementing permaculture practices. The work includes caring for animals, tending to the gardens, and also construction projects. Twenty five hours of work per week is expected in exchange for room and board. Time away from the farm is encouraged. There are many attractions in the area.

Ths is a Biodynamic farm in the Andes with the idea of living in an 'earth first' manner. We are an intentional community, albeit a highly transient one! We host people from all over the world with the intent of teaching the manera antigua, the old ways of farming in Ecuador, and offer a community living experience in a sustainable and healthy environment.
We are about living young, not too many rules (2) and play for work is the norm. Work is shared by all and is usually FUN (the more the merrier), although we DO work hard, often in the sun (bring a hat and gloves if you can).

NEW VOLUNTEER INFORMATION HERE!! PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN COMING TO HERE!
We have a fairly constant stream of volunteers and students coming and going, so I have decided to ask everyone to try to drop me a line when you are coming, and if you come earlier or without notice, please bring a cheese or 2 pounds of meat or some chocolate or something, everyone loves treats! And if you mus... more inside

I am a photographer, and translator, ( Spanish to English for expats locally.) and developer. Myself and my partner have a house set in a beautiful location here in southern Ecuador. Its truly a magical place. My partner is going away for 6 months and we need some useful guys, ( Male or Female.) to maintain or house and garden and pets, 2 dogs and a cat. We have internet Wi-Fi and laundry too as well as other mod cons.

My partner is going away for 6 to 9 months and we need some useful guys, ( Male or Female.) to maintain or house and garden and pets, 2 dogs and a cat. We need someone for a period of a few weeks, so people looking for long stays very welcome, but short term too is very welcome. It would suit 1 to maximum of two people. However due to the growing cost of living, it would be great if the person interested in the position would chip in on the food costs. This would be very welcome and cheaper if split between 2 people.

A little about me… I am 24 years old and have recently found a passion for natural building and permaculture. I have a piece of land in Collaqui, which is very close to Tumbaco, Ecuador. I came to Ecuador with the dream to build a cob house and permaculture garden. The plot is 6,000 m2 and has been in my family for a long time. There has not been a lot done to the land so I have big plans for it and would love to have some of your help! The land is located in a beautiful rural area in Ecuador and has so much potential.

The first thing I want to accomplish is a little cob house for my family and I. I really got fascinated with cob when researching natural building techniques when I first got the idea to build this house in Ecuador. Then I was lucky enough to be a volunteer for a lovely couple who also had a dream to build a cob house in Ecuador and I was able to work with them for a couple months and it was a great experience. I learned so much from them on how to build my house a... more inside

The farm (1409m in altitude) is located in a cloud forest, half way (15 to 20 minutes bus) between Valladolid and Palanda, in the province of Zamora-Chinchipe. It is about a 2 1/2 hour breath taking bus ride South from Vilcabama, and then about an 1 hour walk to the farm house. It is about 3 hours from the Peruvian border.

Our goal is to create a small community that can live sustainably through organic farming, and be good stewards to the land. We want to make this farm completely sustainable, such that, most everything we, or the animals eat, comes from the farm. This will be done by using organic, permaculture, bio-dynamic, and sustainable techniques. In the future we would like to offer classes/retreats in sustainability and other "surthrival" type skills.

If you e-mail me directly you will have a much faster response and can receive MUCH MORE information. Don't forget to see the web site!
