Come join us to learn about raising animals, butchering, and processing meats into delicious finished products.

We are full-time farmers who are not independently wealthy so we rely on the farm for our sustenance. The projects and work we do here hopefully have a potential to create money or a savings of money, so we choose work that best creates these things. We have, and are continually, properly raising livestock with care and thought. We then process the meat into quality products to sell mostly to the increasing expat population around Cotacachi.

The farm is located 10 minutes from Cotacachi, 15 minutes from Otavalo, and 5 minutes from Quiroga. Currently we have pigs, chickens, dogs and cats. We also have bees for honey collection but that is seasonal. The dogs and cats who live in the house roam all over (possibly your bed). We have fruit trees around the farm and we do small plots of veggies from time to time. We have, and are continually reforesting our land with n... more inside

*Update: The volunteer casita is available from end of September, preferably for a one month stay or longer. Thank you!

This exchange is for help with land maintenance on a small rural homestead. Weeding and weed-whacking, permaculture/gardening projects (building trellises, raised garden beds, terracing, water-works, and open to new ideas), occasional harvesting, picking and processing coffee beans, composting, pest-control, bee-keeping, planting, mulching, watering, landscaping and some manual labor such as digging, rock-work, etc. Work is 15 hours per week in exchange for lodging only (not food, but food is very inexpensive here), with plenty of free time left to explore this beautiful region of the Andes. Temperatures are comfortable year-round. You have your own stand-alone structure, a solid, secure, cosy, dry space, 15 m2/161 square feet. This is a very simple basic one-room studio dwelling with OUTDOOR sink, shower (no hot water) and dry compost toilet. Inside is a comfo... more inside

BABYSITTING in beautiful city of Cuenca — in full, Santa Ana de los cuatro ríos de Cuenca — the capital of the Azuay Province. It is widely regarded as the most European city in the country of Ecuador due to its highly 16th and 17th century era Spanish colonial architecture resembling to cities and architecture throughout Spain. The city of Cuenca is located in the highlands of Ecuador at about 2,560 metres (8,300 feet) above sea level, with an urban population of over 600,000 rising to 700,000 inhabitants in the larger metro area. The centre of the city is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Trust site due to its many historical buildings. Cuenca is well known for its stunning architecture, tourist attractions and night activities.

Hola, we are a "quite normal", easy going family (I am a queer friendly Bi), a cosmopolitan couple with a 5 years old, rather ACTIVE daughter. We live in a comfortable house in a calm, safe suburb of Cuenca. Nearby there is a large shopping center Mall ... more inside

I fell in love with beautiful Mompiche, moved here and started to build my dream house. It is a five story bamboo house, built like a wedding cake. The top floor has a spectacular 360 degree view, with views from the shower and the toilet too!
Mompiche is a quant fishing village with a pristine 40 mile crescent moon bay. From October to April there are world-class waves, attracting surfers from around the world. It is surrounded by jungle with monkeys and tons of birds, including toucans and parrots.
I am a masseuse from Esselen, Big Sur, California with 40 years of experience. I offer messages for $15 for a half an hour and $25 for an hour.
Chocolate making is available. Tours of the jungle and yoga can be arranged.
I am charging $10 a week for all the bottled water you can drink and a bed in my dream house.
I also offer 5 breakfasts and 5 dinners for $30.
Here is an example of the menu.

San Bartolo of Uchuculin is a small rural Kichwa community, 25 minutes from the city of Tena, Napo at the edge of Llanganates National Park !

There are several projects that the families need help with right now, such as building a traditional style house in the jungle, cultivating cocoa, yuca, pineapple and maze crops.
There is no set program, volunteers can bring their own projects related to their professions and areas of interest, and according to the needs of the community. There is also the opportunity to teach English in a local rural school.

It is the hope of the community that volunteers participate in community activities and daily life. This is more of a cultural exchange and a real chance to experience Kichwa Community life from learning to speak Kichwa, cook typical food, build a knowledge about medicinal plants and to make typically jewellery from natural fibres and seeds.

During the week is when the volunteers will work. During the weekend they have an oppor... more inside

hello there! We are a small hostel in north Quito's area around la carolinas park, beautiful area, secure!. We are looking for volunteers. Most duties are related to the reception duties. You would learn the booking system and maintain the reservation list, deal with check- ins and check -outs. This type of knowledge would give you an advantage for the future volunteering jobs across South America. Some light housekeeping duties are expected. We maintain friendly atmosphere at the hostel and interaction with guests is necessary to do the job properly. Basic understanding of Spanish is OK and you would have an opportunity to improve your language skills. Longer stay is preferable.

(Versión en castellano, abajo)

This is a new eco-lodge and sustainable farming project based on 50 hectares (123.5 acres) of pristine land right at the edge of the Amazon rain forest, near the small town of Canelos in Ecuador. The project has been in development on site since September 2016.

I lived and worked in a big city with a suit and tie until the day I decided to trade the concrete jungle for a real one. After a few years of self-study about sustainable and organic farming methods, I am now putting these ideas into practice, experimenting with them, and learning through practical application. I am a biophile, a true lover of nature who can spend hours poring over such things as different kinds of fungi and insects.

We need volunteers who are experienced in the various methods of organic farming such as permaculture, hugelkultur, biodynamic farming, and vermiculture. We are equally open to volunteers who have theoretical knowledge but no prior applied experience, and ... more inside
