We have 2 mango orchards consisting of 1150 mango trees. Our home is set inside 1 of the orchards , we are close to town and the room has orchard and mountain views.

We are 15 min from the beach named Puerto Arista and close to the famous Boca de Cielo and one of the worlds largest , un developed estuaries with all kinds of wild life and mangroves .

We are situated in a very hot and humid part of southern chiapas. There are lots of bugs depending the time of year and the sun can be intense at times , but we love it and everyone who has volunteered with us , loves it too. almost too beautiful and peaceful for words.

Work is year round. There is all kinds of ranch work and maintenance and the like . We have the occasional green building projects as well .

Not much in the way of nitelife . Its a fairly rural , very typical all mexican agricultural town. Mainly mangos , cattle and fishing . But , as I have said , it IS very beautiful and un spoiled , laid back and peacefu... more inside

My name is Victor and I have been teaching English to young people from my community for 8 years. I have a small school in downtown Tehuantepec near the market, banks, restaurants, and the tropical forest full of coconuts, bananas, and mangoes. Tehuantepec is located 20 minutes from the ocean beach community, Salina Cruz. I am located only a five minutes taxi ride from the local bus station.

I am looking for one person at a time to come and work with my students, which includes conversing with my students and teaching if you are able to. My students need more practice talking to people who speak fluent and clear english. I ask for five or six hours a day working with my students and in return I offer a place for you to sleep and one meal a day and a tour around the city to show you my local culture. You can stay for a minimum one week and a maximum of two weeks, but we can make a deal if it works out and you want to stay longer.

I have an organic garden on a 20 hectare property in the state of Yucatan by the Gulf of Mexico near the beautiful fishing village of San Felipe. I have a degree in electrical engineering and I developed many ways to be self-sufficient. From highly efficient 12 volt electrical devices to a cheap and simple but super efficient wood burning cooking stove that seems to amaze everyone. The house is engineered so that it only needs a single 100 watt solar panel and just one lead acid car battery which means my cost for electricity is less than $1 a month. I also cook electrically with an insulated rice cooker. At "Hacienda Santa Maria" you can learn how to live in a civilized way on just a few dollars a day. I will show you how to mostly live off the Sun and how I build a concrete house for about the price of a car using my invention "Horsy". Learn how to control weeds without chemicals, naturally fertilize the irrigation water and make any crop use 5 times less water while also eliminat... more inside
