I have an organic garden on a 20 hectare property in the state of Yucatan by the Gulf of Mexico near the fishing village of San Felipe. Having received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston in 1985, I developed many ways to be self sufficient. From highly efficient 12 volt electrical devices to solectric cookers and a $3.00 super efficient wood burning stove made from a galvanized bucket. The house is engineered so that it only needs two small 50 watt solar panels and one $80.00 lead acid car battery that lasts 3 years. I often cook electrically with an insulated rice cooker or in a big stainless steel thermos bottle. At "Rancho Santa Maria" you can learn how to live in a civilized way on just a few dollars a day. I will show you how to mostly live off the Sun and how I build a concrete house for about the price of a car using my invention "Horsy". Let me also show you how to grow organic food, how to control weeds without chemicals, natural... more inside
